Menkor Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I have both a Wii and a DS and I need to connect them to the internet...I do not have a wireless setup and I do not have a "normal" router either, so the LAN adapter is of no use for me... I know that there are problems with the Nintendo USB-connector regarding different firewalls(Zonealarm mostly) and that it also works on XP only... Does anyone know if Datel's device works any better? Does it work with eg Zonealarm and does it support more than just XP?
Deathjam Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Wifi adaptor works with vista also. May also work with Mac, can't remember but im pretty sure linux is a no. Once installed, and not using conflicting firewalls, it works fine but the machine its inserted into needs to be on all the time. That's all I know, sorry. Never tried the Datel one.
Gizmo Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Alternatively, buy the official dongle and if it doesn't work do this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/390312 Thats my setup, it works most of the time. Occassionally when you take a USB device out the dongle confuses itself and turns off, but you just have to take it out and back in again and its fine.
MATtheHAT Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Just buy a normal wireless router. Or get a free one if you are due a contract renewal, I think AOL are giving away free PS3's with an 18 month broadband contract. I use the BT thingy and it never lets me down, both Wii and DS.
Menkor Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Is there no other way? I just cannot change my whole network setup and I really want to take the Wii online
