Hey guys,

I know there is a thread on wireless routers but i really need specific help here as the whole thing confuses me tenfold.

I've deducted that, because i use ADSL (Tiscali connection through BT landline), i need a new modem (the one they gave was powered through USB from my laptop).

I've also deducted that it's possible to get 2 in 1 routers that have modems built in, an that its alot easier this way.

So, i know what i need (i think), now i just need to know what will work with the Wii and 360.

I was looking at these:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=96940&doy=20m2

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=47808&doy=20m2

My questions;

1: Are they the type of thing i'm looking for?

2: Do they opperate without having to turn my laptop on? i.e. can i be online with 360 and Wii all day without turning the laptop on?

3:Are Linksys any good? From Nintendo's WiFi page, Linksys routers rated badly. But not specifically these models, though it does make me worry. Do any of you use a Linksys with Wii and 360? Any problems?

If you can help it would be greatly appreciated. What would be awesome is if there's any of you who are in the same situation (connecting through ADSL)and use something that works, that awy i can be confident in buying the same router/modem that you use and know that it will be compatible.

Thanks guys.

1. yes (you might need to change some settings in the router though)

2. yes

3. Depends, I had a linksys router a while back and it was total shite. It was an old model though so they could have improved. Now I have an SMC router which works pretty well (but not perfect...)

At home the wii and ds is connected to the internet through this: http://www.a-link.com/WL54AP2.html (didn't buy it from that site though)
