Well its offical...

Taken from Toms Hardware...

San Diego (CA) - AMD scored a major win against Intel during the back-to-school season. According to Current Analysis, AMD outsold Intel for the very first time in US retail over the period of a whole month. More than half of all computer systems US stores sold during September carried an AMD processor.

T3h Offers is mildly surprised that it happened now, but very happy. I mean its been on the cards for abit - purly because AMD's latest range of X2 64-Bit CPUs, whilst not being original is just so fantastically marketed and pitched. As far as prices go they are pretty fair, and the performance is mind boggling.

At the moment Intel just can't keep up - and being as Christmas is looming, prices will begin to fall and Intel and AMD will push further and harder for Chrismas sales figures - so expect some real price fun in the upcoming few months.
