Makes sense, but still a risky tactic.
FFXV 'can't run' on Switch but a MMORPG can?...Hmm.
What's the lowest spec pc's it runs on.

LOL
Be thankful for the goons that stole it. At least we got to see the thing in action cos Nintendo ain't showing us shit.
A really good analysis of what Nintendo's strategy for the year might be. I'd recommend Arlo's videos on YouTube, he's fun to listen to and talks a lot of sense.Very good. Makes some very good points.

http://nintendoeverything.com/square-enix-considering-final-fantasy-xiv-for-switch/
During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Europe earlier today, Square Enix commented on a possible version of the game for Switch. It’s under “consideration”, the company said.In August 2015, director and producer Naoki Yoshida stated that Square Enix was open to putting Final Fantasy XIV on Switch, when it was called NX. It sounds like things are slightly more concrete, though we still don’t have a confirmation of it actually happening.

Limiting to two machines is fair. I would possibly share with a friend more than within my family, but still it would be akin to when I had a nes, I would never buy the physical game my best friend had, we'd just swap, one of his for one of mine.
I think however, from my experience with Nintendo it probably won't allow for that. My experience with mario maker, my nephew had his own Wii U and moved his NNID to the new Wii U (obviously). Simple. But now we can't comment on each others levels, we can't register as having played each other's levels... why? because his NNID, despite being "unlinked" is registered as having first been registered on my Wii U.
We both have a copy of Mario maker.. We both have a Wii U. We aren't allowed to play against each other.
That's very backward in my view, and really has weighed in quite heavily on my interest in the switch... a few months back I was getting passionate about Nintendo again.. and then they do that. My nephew loves splatoon but the net connection sometimes is weak... so splatoon isn't playable. But we still had mario maker, where we could upload a level over a longer period of time and still have contact that way... but yeah... I digress... I have very low hopes as far as consumer friendly online is concerned and I would encourage everyone going into this at launch to set their expectations at Wii U levels unless Nintendo say otherwise.
On that front, I would expect that if you have 2 NNID's on the same machine, they would be able to play each others games. But if they are on 2 separate devices, with the exception of possible gb through 3ds style download play, expect nothing of the sub account/game sharing sort...
1 step forward 2 steps back is the Nintendo way.

Taken from a Gaf thread
Although Nintendo say they "haven't made any final decisions".
Transcript of question and answer:Q: So I have a general Switch question - so I have kids and ideally I'm just gunna have one, but if I take my system with me, and my son or whatever wants to play - if I were to buy a digital game, would I have to buy it once, or would I have to buy it multiple times so they can use the games?
A: Currently, we don't have a system like that in place for Nintendo Switch. But we haven't made any final decisions on how we would approach that going forward in the future, so unfortunately I cannot provide a concrete answer.
The man asks about sharing digital games with his kids, and the answer is no.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT REDOWNLOADING YOUR OWN GAMES TO ANOTHER OF YOUR OWN SWITCHES
Time stamp is 16:08 ~
So what's the deal here? With the PS4 I have my own UK account and US account where my US account is primary.
My son has his PS4 and his account is my US account so every digital purchase from the US store can be played on my ps4 and my sons with only one purchase required.
Are Nintendo saying this isn't possible with the switch?
Are the saying sub accounts can't access digital games?
I really hope not as that would be quite ridiculous.

Given how good it looks on the other consoles/PC it makes you wonder if they'd be able to without a significant downgrade.
There would be a downgrade. The specs dictate that but if they could nail the performance I would take the downgrade for handheld gaming.

@killthenet Thats absolutely brilliant, its almost at a 'no-brainer' point to port or create games for the Switch if thats the case. Capcom though, have they ever giving a reason as to why they didn't port RE7?Finally, Capcom is looking into having the Resident Evil engine be capable for Nintendo Switch. The company also wants to develop AAA titles for Switch
Maybe it's coming?

Personally agree myself, though reassured to see the OS doesn't seem too cumbersome in its movements compared to Wii U's. Given the generally positive reaction I'm seeing to those videos here - I'm still left wondering why it is Nintendo aren't revealing these things themselves with literally just 2 weeks to go until release of the product
I don't think Nintendo are going to bother. It's crazy.

Genuinely baffles me just how much people care about a consoles UI.
I just accepted and took to the PS3's, the PS4's, the 3DS'... the Wii's was somewhat annoying because of the pointer controls.
They're just menu's. And they're all pretty quickly navigable.
Considering the amount of sheer options the PS4 console has, it is any real surprise it's not the most definitive UI?... likewise at the moment the Switch's may look simple and easy because there's absolutely bugger all there.
Speed is what counts. Even if one doesn't like the look of the PS4 UI it's still rapid.
That's the most important thing to me. I don't want to have to wait extra seconds just to navigate a menu.
-
I actually don't really care about the interface to be honest. Both the Wii U and PS4 are fine to me.
I'm more interested in the features that the console may have, its online functionality and games.
Didn't you find the wii u slow. Day 1 it was shockingly bad and even after updates to me it still was slow. Not as slow but still very annoying the speed it took to get through menus.
I'm very happy it looks like the switch is light years ahead of the wii u interface.

At one point the user is scrolling through the Notifications tab, and it clearly shows he hasn't linked his Nintendo Account, maybe, probably not, but maybe by linking it, it will open up the hoped for friend list???
Good point.
-
That's a good spot on notifications in the menu - gives some hope there are some basic features.
It's extremely disappointing that it looks like no achievements also no friends list. I think the lack of a button for friends list, social or something similar is a worry.
Are we close to it being confirmed all social options really are through an app?
Forgot about friend list. Yeah that blows. The only way to communicate with friends is via a phone app? No messaging, invites, friend requests via the device?
-
Achievements can be similar to how Miitomo/Mario Run and FE:H work, with the whole MyNintendo mission thing. At least those have an actual use and give you discounts/items, unlike trophies that don't really do anything.
I would rather have Xbox achievement or PS like Trophies.
To say they have no use is ridiculous when 10's of millions seem to enjoy them just fine.
-
Achievements / trophies seem to be a love / hate thing from what I've seen online over the years.
Personally, I love them and was hoping for something similar on Switch. Sad to see it not there, unless it's tucked in the top left avatar icon that the user didn't show (highly doubtful), but it may come at a later date? Again, highly doubtful!
The beauty of them on other systems is if you don't like them they can be disabled.
Disappointed Nintendo still ain't got them implemented.

Here's the video
I'm impressed. OS looks barebones but UI very slick.
Day 1 update for eShop
No achievements

i actually just play friendlies, but I'd rather plan seasons, online, manager, literally any other mode than Ultimate team. I hate the mode.
I was an early tester for the device....
Ultimate team is the reason fifa still to this day doesn't play like a real football game. It makes EA so much money that actually trying to make the game realistic is bottom of the agenda. People love ultimate team which has a detrimental effect on the development of fifa.
-
I'm ready to order a fight stick once I know more fighters are coming.
Was hoping Tekken 7 and injustice 2 would of been confirmed by now.
-
Is it officially called Fifa 18 or is it still EA Fifa? Either way it has to have Ultimate Team right. Where is the logic in omitting a mode that generates revenue.
It's Fifa 18
-
Here's what one of the Digital Foundry team have said on the supposed FIFA 18 footage:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-02-15-heres-our-first-look-at-fifa-on-switch
I'm skeptical it's Fifa 18. Just not convinced EA will show anything prior to E3
-
Nintendo are learning. Like every other publisher they are not going to leave money on the table. Locking hard mode behind dlc is bullshit though.
-
So why not just download the game on the UK store?
Not all games are released and secondly each store has its own prices. Each region has it own sales offers. Sometimes it can work out more cost effective buying from another region digital store.
-
This is basically fine so long as you can log back into your main UK profile with a UK Nintendo account and still play the games you bought on a foreign profile and Nintendo account. The manual linking thing leaves me a bit worried that Nintendo don't want to do this (since they might be limiting how often you could link and unlink a given profile with a Nintendo account).
If not, and you need to play the foreign downloaded games on the Nintendo account you bought them, there'll be no online play (since your subscription will be on a UK account) or access to your currently logged friends/achievements while playing the game, which sucks.
This is what needs clearing up. Those leaks don't confirm that's the case.

Here's the lot:
Leaked Switch specs:

(from NeoGAF) (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1343614 <-- contains a ton of info)
But, the documents date July 15th...
Would certainly help if nintendo released some info. We shouldn't need leaks after the platform has been revealed and is being sold.
-
A new leak, which is hard to deny, indicates you can still do these things without the app.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1343614
In fact, I remember reading an interview where they said that recently too. I'll go hunting.
I wish this kinda of stuff wasn't leaked 3 weeks before release and Nintendo reveals this information. It's ridiculous.
Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!
