    Another Tales game bombed!!

Decent Vita sales. Not amazing but pretty good. If they can stabalise at 30k - 40k then its moving forward.

  2. That's my concerns on this too; this appears to be retailers decisions. If it's to sell the stock(and if it still struggles to with the cut); will they bother getting any more if/when it DOES sell?

Personally I'm looking at the MH3 bundle because it comes with the supermeganewclassicretropro pad and a game, which I'd rather than Nintendoland and a game at the same price. It's really still more than I'd like to pay, but I look at it as saving £50 now or in a year and it isn't that big to me atm(because I've been saving and intending to buy since Nov). I'm worried about the Wii U's success on the high street/more mainstream market than ourselves though - judging by some of these cuts there's some possible doubts by some retailers.

That's the real key. Quite a few retailers must be have quite a lot of wii u's sitting on shelves.

  3. Edge could be wrong in their review, but either way, bit of a kick in the balls as I was hoping/expecting this to maybe be a 9/10 game.

The humour is incredible, but maybe the gameplay gets repetitive or something, or is too hand-holding/easy.

My biggest gripe with all those Lego titles was the lack of challenge. A Edge 5 generally tends to mean a 7 elsewhere but for me to get this it has to be incredible.

  4. Simple answer to the question - no they should not have stuck with the Wii Remote.

I think this is cropping up now because we are so far yet to see the game pad being properly utilised for anything other than off tv play.

A lot of people seem to be getting confused that this is the only purpose for the game pad in the first place, when in actual fact, it's simply a choice the developers make.

The game pad, in time, will open up new ways to play games whilst sitting in fornt of a TV. Zombi U did it very well I thought, with the pad being an integral part of your survival, and it really immersed the player into the whole experience. That isn't something you'd get if you were sat in front of the TV pointing the Wii remote at the screen.

The game pad is the unique and main feature of this console and so far Nintendo have shown us very little of what it can do. At E3 when the Wii U was announced the game pad was the star of the show with lots of videos showing how it would be used effectively. The situation we find ourselves in at the minute is one where we're just seeing developers lazily use the pad as a glorified handheld device.

I can't see it staying that way forever though, especially when we start to get games that are built from the ground up for the Wii U. Developers will find ways to use the pad effectively. Sometimes it just takes one game to nail it, and the rest will follow.

Nintendo will. No doubt about it, nintendo will do some amazing things with it. Not sure about everyone else though.

  5. And thus remove one of the major sell points for the console. Without it, it's just a slightly more powerful 360/PS3, and with the PS4/Durango out then, it'd be a death warrant.

The GamePad gets support because it's bundled in and everyone has it.

If sales are still sluggish this time next year I would say the gamepad isn't a major selling point or the consumers don't want it.

  6. Give me the pro controller as standard and I would of been happy.

I like the wiimote but I remember at times wishing I could just play with a standard pad.

    Wii U Basic

Console, 30gb HDD and Wii Mote, but no Wii U pad. £180.

    Wii U Premium

Console, 30gb HDD and Wii U pad. Maybe around £230.

If this time next year sales are still sluggish I would ditch the pad and have it as an optional add on for people.

  7. Wow, so it breached the 50k mark? Niiiice, hopefully it keeps it up so we can actually see some competition heat up on the dedicated video game handheld market.

Great opening for Dragon Ball Heroes.

Do Nintendo have nothing planned for the Wii U on Golden Week?

  8. Game Informer April: Thief (Square/Eidos Montreal, PC/PS4/"Other Next-Gen", 2014) #1

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eidos Montreal has been working for years to reboot the classic stealth series Thief, and the fruits of its labor will finally be revealed in issue 240 of Game Informer Magazine.

Our April cover story is a world-exclusive look at this next-generation stealth title. Series hero Garrett returns to the Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game's levels.

Square Enix plans to release Thief for PS4, PC, and other next-gen platforms sometime in 2014. Check out our coverage trailer for a taste of all the content you can look forward to absorbing over the next month.

  9. OK this is quite a surprise having read your impressions of the demo!...

    IGN Review - 4.7

Plenty other reviews score it much higher. That review doesnt seem like his judging the game on it's own merits but his just pissed that its not 'castlevania'.

  10. I'm confused by this too. What was supposed to carry the Wii U through these months? I understand that Pikmin and Wonderfull 101 slipped but they are just two games. So what else was supposed to make people want this console? Was it the gamepad? Was the Wii name supposed to do it? Nintendoland? I really don't know.

Nintendoland & Gamepad. I think Nintendo thought the Gamepad was going to be the gamechanger. Remember the focus was all on the pad and not the actual console. For now it's simply about the making sure Q2 has some titles and then try to build some momentum.

  11. I don't really know how Nintendo are going to get this thing off the ground. I posted when it was first announced that is was a bad idea to abandon the Wii so early and launch a new console.

All consoles need momentum and while there might be the occasional massive title I can't see it being enough to reach escape velocity. It took Sony three years to drag the catastrophe that was the PS3 out of the muck and it came with massive restructuring, realignment and personnel changes.

And a whole heap of money. I keep telling myself its early but the Gamecube never really got off the ground and I think the Wii U could have the same fate. I'm just not convinced 3rd parties are going to support it going forward and there is only so much nintendo can do. Once next gen hits its going to be even harder to get the system moving.

  12. The bulk wouldn't have been Japan because they know that Japan is primarily handheld

Maybe not the bulk but they would of expected Japan to still shift a fair few amount.

I am actually very happy with my Wii U and personally have enough games etc etc, but from afar it looks like Nintendo have treated Japan either with disdain or arogance as far as Wii U is concerned; launched it later than everywhere else, barely supported it with any games, and am I right in thinking Nintendoland doesn't come bundled with it?

Considering it's their home turf, they are treating Japan like they used to treat us back in the days of THE!

Wii Sports wasn’t bundled in Japan either. Thats not the problem.

I think the hope was Pikmin and Wonderful 101 would be out for Q1. I also think they had hoped they would have had more Japanese 3rd parties to help fill the gaps but for whatever reason that didn’t happen.

In every region I think they thought Nintendoland and Mario U would be enough to at least get them through Q1.

  13. I came here to post the latest Japanese sales figures and I will as they differ slightly from yours @liger05 but the order remains the same.

Nintendo 3DS Continues To Rule Japan, Wii U Overtaken By Vita

The Nintendo 3DS has once again had a good week in Japan as it easily outsold the competition. Combined sales of the Nintendo 3DS were 74.729, with its closest competitor, the PlayStation 3, selling 18.529 units. Metal Gear Rising was the best-selling game in Japan overtaking Dragon Quest VII to take the number one spot. Wii U sales continued to slide and this week saw the PlayStation Vita outsell Nintendo’s latest home console. Here’s the Japanese software and hardware charts.

    1. [PS3] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

    2. [3DS] Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden

    3. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf

    4. [3DS] Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

    5. [PSP] Toaru Majutsu no Kagaku no Gun Sou Katsugeki

    6. [Wii] Taiko Drum Master Wii Super Wonderful Edition

    7. [3DS] New Super Mario Bros. 2

    8. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

    9. [3DS] Fantasy Life

10.[3DS] Taiko Drum Master: Chibi Dragon and the Mysterious Orb

    1. Nintendo 3DS LL – 49,317 (66,139)

    2. Nintendo 3DS – 25,412 (31,832)

    3. PlayStation 3 – 18,529 (16,934)

    4. PlayStation Vita – 11,456 (8,044)

    5. Wii U – 9,633 (10,744)

    6. PSP – 8,981 (10,501)

    7. Wii – 1,317 (1,655)

    8. Xbox 360 – 473 (506)

Pretty embarrassing. Even the PSP nearly outsold the Wii U, nevermind the Vita beating it.

It’s terrible and the worst thing is they can do nothing about it. The Japanese release schedule since launch has been nothing short of a joke.

Here is what is confirmed up until May.

    02/27 Nano Assault Neo

    03/20 Need for Speed

    03/28 Game & Wario

    03/30 Dragon Quest X

    05/02 BioHazard: Revelations

March sales are going to be real bad and the Q1 financials are going to be a bloodbath. Not a chance they will hit the revised target of 4 mil consoles sold.

Number of weeks it took the following systems to drop below 10.000 units: (Famitsu)

PS2 - 402 (week 39 and 40 it sold 8.136 and 3.306 units respectively due to supply issues)

    PSP - 394

    NDS - 337

    Wii - 224
