  1. i'd be happy to post to Japan.

As for time scale, I cant even consider doing this till next week, as currently all my music is trapped on a corrupted hard drive and i need to wait till payday to buy a new HDD and save my music. But i'm trying to plan Cd's now. I'm considering doing one filled with awesome and one with stuff so bad its funny.

  2. i think i'll give this a bash.

i have several half started idea that I should actually get done, and this might help me get it sorted and provide a bit of an incentive.

The longest thing I have written previously was about 15,000 words (written in about 2 weeks), but that could have been easily expanded to over 20,000. This'll be a big step up though.

  3. ReZ - no damage? A friend did something similar and ended up losing four of his front teeth. And by 'similar' I mean 'hit this guy's girlfriend then threatened to kill his mother.'

Back from manchester! Met about 13 people I'd never seen/heard of before. Some were way cool, but there was one particular twat that everyone was trying really hard to ditch - and no, it wasn't me :P. Everytime he'd go to the loo we'd all scarper from the pub/bar! He ended up somehow in the club next to the one we ended up in, and was outside when we entered.

But yah! Wo'eva. Bought Rant by Palahniuk and that new shakespeare book by Bryson. Ooh! Also leveled-up as a juggler by completing a full circuit of Mill's Mess. Hells yeah. Got an email from uni that says "because you only failed one 20-credit core module, you don't have to come beg for a place. Instead we're gonna make you redo the module this year, so you'll be with a bunch of 2nd-years. Oh yeah - we don't do the module anymore so I guess we'll just stick you on another random module that you kinda practically ACED last year. That coo'?" The timetable's are available now, and it turns out shorty and I have a ridiculous amount of days off -- Shorty only has to go in two days a week next semester, and it's our final year!

Shorty's soon to go off for a few days so I get the xbox all to myself, gleeeee!

i haven't read Rant yet, I will be buying it soon though. I have just finished re-reading Choke and I'm currently rereading Survivor, which I think is my favourite after Fight Club. I love his books so much, they really open up the mind and he has a unique way of writing.

The shakespeare book is pretty good too, although IMO it lacks some of the Bryson charm of his other books.

  4. lotr does rock.

i had a disapointing night. i have eaten something thats REALLY disagreed with me. I'm feeling so sick, and whilst i know this is a weird thing to mention, it's also a pretty big record to lose: I pooed on a public loo for the first time ever! so thats a 23 year streak just wiped out due to some bug or something.

I hope i feel better soon. No idea what it is thats done this too me, although I suspect it's actually karma, as I pretented to have food poisoning to skip work for a job interview a few weeks ago, so I guess I'm owed some food poisoning.

  5. Unfortunately it's a laptop, so i dont have the option to connect it straight to the pc. However one of my other IDE drives is working fine via the adaptor, so the fact that its working fine also removes the adaptor from the equation.

I'll try that program tomorrow, thanks.

  6. I have all my music/tv shows etc on a separate IDE drive connected via a USB adaptor. This system has been working fine for ages.

Today I'm listening to my music, go to change tracks and it says the destination directory is corrupted and unreadable. So i try a different file, and then i try browsing the drive itself. It still says it's corrupted and doesnt see the drive as formatted.

So i tried the old failsafe - turn in off and on again. Still no joy.

Any idea whats up here? A hard drive cant just magically corrupt like that surely? Its cool, stationary and none of the files have been intentionally changed/added for several weeks.

If it's gone, I will be very very very upset!

  7. nice day today, although its a pity Hamilton had his win taken away. seemed a harsh decision as he let Kimi back ahead.

I went to town to try and buy some record mailers to send out my vinyl I have for sale on ebay. I reckon I should manage to get around £200, which would be ace.

still got that girl from friday stuck in my head. I'm going to have to try and see her again and hope she dumps her bf! although tbh i'm not sure that's likely. Not sure if she liked me anyway...

  8. i like this!

btw j7, i agree with you on Charlie, it was a really brave move to do what he did (plus its was self financed too and cost alot). Plus he's produced to great songs, especially Palahniuks Laughter.

anyhoo, moving on... my actual 5 people to meet:

    1) Stephen Fry. For so many reasons - witty, interesting, intelligent and seems genuinely nice.

    2) Douglas Adams. Creator of one of the great 'trilogies' of all time, but a very mulitfaceted character, with really diverse interests. Plus, like Fry, a major geek/technophile.

    3) Noel Gallagher. Awesome man. Should have some good stories, plus I can bask in his wonderfullness. TBH not sure if we'd have too much in common though - i think he'd think i'm a posh twat, but oh well.

    4) Regina Spektor. She seems lovelly! plus if the conversation starts to get dull I can just ask her to sing for me.

    5) Hmmm... I am struggling by this point. Henry VIII would be very interesting, so would Hitler. But Tina Fey is wonderfull. But then Boris Johnson and Jeremy Clarkson are sensible, interesting people. And, sorry to copy everyone, but Dave 'nicest man in rock' Grohl would be really interesting to talk to.

However, on the few ocassions when I have been able to meet famous people who I respect I have generally just mumbled things allong the lines of 'mmm... hum.. thanks... for um.. you know, all those great books/songs/etc you have done... I really umm... like them...'

  9. i handed my notice in at work today :)

i have just got home from a nught out. had a good time. I met a friend of a friend and I eally liked her. Its insanely rare (like not sine 2004) that i'll meet a girl and really like her. Unfortunately it turns out she has a bf. pretty sad really as it is so so so rare i meet a girl who i really like.

  10. Today was another pretty boring day I guess. Didn't do much. Went to the bank to get a new pin code for my visa card, as I had forgotten my old one (silly me).

Went running again tonight after not doing it for at least a month or something. I thought I would be horrible but I still did pretty well. =)

Watching tv now, first episode of Dexter just started so I'll check that out (should make Ashley happy). =P

dexter is WONDERFULL! glad more people are starting to watch it.

I just put loads of my stuff on eBay :( i checked my balance on the way home and i was about £100 less than i was expecting. And I wasn't expecting much in the first place...

  11. as with all things, the internet is our friend for telling you postage costs.

although i do like to set challenges, ill just give you the answer as i cant be bothered.. weigh the games in the envelope you want to use, note the weight, then go to the royal mail website and use the online postage thing.

  12. thanks everyone :) it's such a releif to have got the job. plus the recruitment agent said they were seriously impressed, so holpefully this'll lead to bigger and better things.

ash - glad you have found somewhere to live, pretty essential thing to have sorted. have you checked out the neighbours?
