  1. People, I implore you. Listen to Longpigs. I've had one of their albums on loop for about 3 hours or something. Probably more. I don't even know.

they're amazing. Do it. Do it do it do it do it!

Yep, one hell of a band.

I only got into them through Richard Hawley's solo stuff (which is very different, but equally awesome).

Cole's Corner is definitely his best album, infact, probably one of the best albums of this decade.

  2. Little riddle for yeee;

    "A little math problem.

There are two lengths of rope.

Each one can burn in exactly one hour.

They are not necessarily of the same length or width as each other.

They also are not of uniform width (may be wider in middle than on the end), thus burning half of the rope is not necessarily 1/2 hour.

By burning the ropes, how do you measure exactly 45 minutes worth of time?"

    GOooooooooooooooooo

    I love riddles!

Took me a while to work out, but I did

If you take one rope (let's call it 1) and light both ends of of it, that will take half the time (30 minutes). As you light rope 1, also light rope 2, but only one end. When rope 1 finishes burning, rope 2 should be at the halfway mark (30 minutes) so light the other end of 2 and that should take 15 minutes for the rest of the rope to burn, totalling 45 minutes.

I think I explained that right, at least, it makes sense in my head...

  3. Possibly the only modern day cartoon show I watched and enjoyed was Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. It had a unique art style and more importantly wasn't shit.

    Back in the day, it was the likes of Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, I Am Weasel, Sonic SatAM and Sonic Underground (blergh), Catdog (Shocked that it hasn't come up before now!) and many others. Cartoon Network was like crack cocaine for me as a kid. Shame it's shit now ;_;

Hey, I loved that show and expressed my love for it, approximately 20 posts back. It was such a huge party of my childhood, how could I have missed it out

  5. [blahblahblahbigwalloftext]

And when it does happen, I'll be celebrating it like it will never happen again.

I guess I can understand that, but if a team isn't playing good football, why go to their matches? I'm sure it feels nice being surrounded by a bunch of like minded people, but surely that and the hope of winning a trophy isn't enough to justify watching a poor team play football?

Would you consider it to be acceptable to change club if you moved house to a different city?

    Thanks

  6. The Animals of Farthing Wood kicked ass. Damn Scarface, that bastard.

I also watched (far too much of):

    Cow and Chicken

Johnny Bravo (I even have a poster of him in my room, I like to pretend I got it when I was six, but I really got it two months ago...)

    Courage the Cowardly Dog

    Pokémon

    Digimon (digital monsters...)

    Catdog

And probably far more that weren't so good or memorable.

  7. In Bruges

Pretty damn funny, short and enjoyable.

    8/10

    I'm Not There

A weird and confusing film about Bob Dylan, but with excellent music, of course. As you may or may not know, Bob Dylan was portrayed by six different actors. It took me a while to work out the little black kid was Bob Dylan, except not really Bob Dylan... It was interesting and worth watching, with great music, of course.

    7/10

    Ronin

Some pretty good car chases, but nothing special. Robert De Niro and the french goodie were interesting, but the other characters were just annoying... If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have bothered watching this movie.

    4/10

    The Godfather Part II

Why haven't I seen this before, an excellent movie, nearly perfect, except in the scene in which Michael's wife confronts him and says she had an abortion, when she said "Yes, I had an abortion! Just like this marriage is an abortion!" I got really pissed off. A) Why was that line allowed in an otherwise perfect script? B) That lady can clearly act, as seen in the rest of the movie, so why was this allowed in?

    9/10

Also, people say the second movies is better, but really? I preferred the first, perhaps it was because I'd never seen anything like it before (except, perhaps, The Deer Hunter).

  8. *Sighs*

Newspapers are as bad as each other. But the Daily Mail is by far the worst.

I can't talk about this without it becoming a wall of text. So I'll just say this:

If you're not into football like I am, then you're not going to understand why I dislike glory-hunters.

I dunno, having read Ben Goldacre's book, Bad Science, I hate the media as much as anyone. It's a really excellent book that attacks all aspects of the media, even the "good" newspapers; I'd recommend everyone reads it.

Everyone (sane) hates the tabloids that feed off peoples hatred, but I'd be interested in knowing what you have against the guardian, for example.

I'm not into football like you are, but I still think it would be nice for you to attempt to explain it.

    Thanks

  9. 1. Newspapers

The Daily Mail doesn't even deserve to be used as toilet paper.

Yes, the Daily Mail is shit, but why do you hate other newspapers?

    8. Glory Hunters

"You're a Man Utd fan? But you were a Chelsea fan before, then an Arsenal fan before that, and a Man Utd fan before that! I also remember that time you supported Blackburn..."

Why is this a problem? I've never understood why football fans get so annoyed by this, surely it's good to support a team for a reason (eg, they are doing well), rather than watching a crap team because your dad watches that crap team?

  10. I just got myself a fancy Mass Effect 2 them for my iGoogle page.

I'm contemplating replaying Mass Effect for a third time, so I can have a save to use in the second game. When my 360 broke my MU didn't have enough space to hold every save I had, so some had to be lost, with Mass Effect being the one I miss most.

  11. People need to say where they went to see these bands!

Where did you see Radiohead? Anyone see them at Manchester Cricket Ground last year?

    Good gig. Shitty crowd.

I saw them at Malahide castle in Dublin, it was awesome, really really amazing.

  12. I've only ever been to two gigs, Radiohead and Tommy Emmanuel, both were fantastic.

I've also been to Tvital (a mini urban festival type thingy majig).

From what I can remember, I saw Snow Patrol, who were shit; Kaiser Chiefs, who were extremely energetic and fun, even though they're music ain't so great; Editors, who were quite good and The Raconteurs, who were pretty disappointing.
