  1. Ratcatcher

Because this was an art film, the story didn't really matter, but it was good anyway. 'Bout a Glaswegian kid living amongst rubbish during a 70s bin-men strike. Sounds pretty nasty but I thought it had some stark beauty about it. A lot of the shots were very reminiscent of stil photographs, and there's one where the boy is stood in a cornfield that I would happily give up all my other posters to put on my wall in huge print.

    Very nice. 8/10.

  2. Yeah voyeurism, love that shit.

I have a holiday memory involving the original release of the Xbox, the United States of America and a couple of R'n'B kids in a Walmart. They were talking to me as I played Gun Valkyrie on this demo unit in a way (which I can't recall accurately or humorously) that went something like this:

R'n'B guys: Yo, tis the bare blap blap mothafucka?

    Me: Yes, it is quite...

    R'n'B guys: Booooo! Blap!

    Me: I totally agree.

R'n'B guy: Shoot that mothafucka down Mr England! Boooo!

    Me: Yep.

And on it went for quite a while longer.

  3. Don't worry everyone, doctor says I'm fine, I just pulled a muscle or something.

He reckoned i'd done it doing sit ups, but I don't do those knowingly. So, bit of a mystery really. Maybe I'm some sort of sleep-exerciser.

    Still hurts though.

PS: the thread title was meant to be a bit jokey, I expected everyone to come back with the 'drug yourself silly and go nuts with a knife' suggestions. So no hard feelings.

  4. Aah all words that describe something 'negative' eventually become instulting. For instance; nigger, spastic, Paki (which is just like saying Iraqi).

Words are just words and we should all look past them and find what the person is actually trying to say instead of jumping at their throats if they say something wrong.

  5. He can do whatever to fuck he likes really. So long as it doesn't involve stopping someone else doing whatever the fuck they want, and vice vesa like.

What I was getting at before was that you are judging what his life is like against your own completely different life and mindset. So you can't really say he's neglecting his 'real life' because it seems to be the gaming world.

  6. Well if everyone he knows plays the game all the live long day, it is life isn't it? And what's wrong with escapism anyway, if you really can't find anything worthwhile somewhere, you can move somewhere else and look there. In this case it's just his video game and stuff.

I don't think sitting at a computer playing games all day is a life any less normal than the lives we all lead.

  7. Has this game been released or something. 'Cause I looked in on the boards yesterday and it appears as though people are already playing it. Is it like, early in America?

I don't wanna browse their forums any more for fear of spoilars...

  8. Monkey Dust.

That's not really funny by The Eels.

I've always been curious about their music, now I know it's good. Cheers.

Even though I can't remember how it went, the Thundercats theme was great. Anyone got an idea where I can find it?

I like the Red Dwarf one because of its comedy value and the Farscape one was pretty cool with all the Aaaaaah aaaaahyaaaaaaah or something.

  9. I've met Jeremy Beadle at a K'Nex show once, I was about eleven but I was still in awe of him. K'Nex was a bit of a let-down though.

Musician wise I've met Alex K of Franz Ferdinand, Barry, Jaff and Ross of the Futureheads, all the Killers, all the Kaiser Chiefs and Kele from Bloc Party. Which are all total sell-out bands I know, but they're famous, so down they go.

I talked to Serj from System of a Down while he was wandering around Manchester once. He was nice despite his horrific band of death-guys from hell.

  10. The Bethesda mods (not counting Tribunal and Bloodmoon) for Morrowind were good but they were nothing at all special. Small quests and extra items was all.

They might release better ones this time, but in all, I found the user-created mods to be almost half the fun of Morrowind.

  11. I'd get tickets for that Foo Fighters concert that has Angels and Airwaves supporting.

I thought the Strokes were supporting on that tour. The UK one right?

    Anyway, I'd either:

    1) do a shit in the middle of a street then try to bribe the police

    2) try to buy a homeless person

    3) just wave it in my friends' faces
