  1. I know, but if Sony and Microsoft steal the idea, then they're helping Nintendo convince people that the new control scheme is the way to go. That's the last thing Sony or Microsoft want to do. Sony and MS obviously have the advantage because they have the proven controller, so they have to use that advantage to their own advantage. If they copy Nintendo people are going to say to themselves, "this must be a great thing" and probably go to Nintendo since they had it first and will probably have proved it worthy of buying by then. Nintendo will have an uphill battle trying to convince the public to buy their nunchuck style controller, but if Sony and Microsoft steal it, then it's a much easier battle for Nintendo to convince the public that they want it. All they have to do is say "This idea of ours is so great even our compeditors want a part of Revolution".
  2. Guys, don't forget.. this isn't the finished product. It's probably still rough around the edges. Give it some time, I'm sure when it comes out you'll be able to sit/stand anywhere in your room and play perfectly.
  3. Yes, everything would be registered whether or not you point it at the screen or you play it on an old TV screen. The sensors indicate movement. The TV and where you point the fromt of the remote do not matter. Your not sending signals to the TV, your sending them to the sensors on top of the TV. When your using the (lazer pointer like) flash technology though (like to shoot ducks in Duckhunt) it would matter if you point it off the screen. (*note* you couldn't actually play it on an 80 year old projection screen because you'd have no way of hooking up the system, it can be played on any TV though.)
  4. I know it's up to Nintendo to convince the public that the new control system is what they want. But if Sony and Microsoft come out and copy it then they're telling the public that they want the Nintendo Revolution control scheme. What I was trying to say is Microsoft and Sony have to stand still with their control scheme to convince people that they don't want a Nintendo Revolution - because if they copy it then Sony and Microsoft are telling people that they DO want a Revolution.
  5. I know that Sony loves to steal Nintendo's ideas, but this would be a lot different than stealing the rumble feature or the analog stick. If Sony steals this idea and uses it in every game (like Nintendo will be doing) it'd be almost as them coming out and saying "we were beat by Nintendo in this Generation, they have better ideas than us." People are going to be making their decision on a PS3 and a Revo baised on the control scheme. When Sony stole the analog stick and the rumble feature it was different. People weren't going to make their counsil choice baised on the ability to rumble. Sony stole those ideas to increase gameplay. They weren't saying Nintendo's the better system by doing that. If Sony steals the Revo control idea and uses it too, I think people would be buying Revo.s instead of PS3's because they knew it was Nintendo's idea first / and Nintendo probably knows how to use it better. What Sony and Microsoft needs to do is convince people that the Revolution contorller is stupid and that video gamers of the year 2006 want normal standard control. Giving in and stealing/using Nintendo's idea would be great publicity for Nintendo imo.
  6. I disagree with that. SNES was more than a more graphically powered NES. If you compare games like Zelda and A Link to the Past, or Metroid to Super Metroid there's just soo much more. The worlds became more real (for the time). They could even pull off 3D (like Starfox and Stunt Race FX). I wouldn't say it's more like NES + New Possibility = SNES
  7. Where did EA say this? In fact on IGN there's a quote from EA saying that the sports titles will adapt well on this new concept. And they're making a shell for the wand, so there will be a "standard" type of controller.
  8. That's how I was discribing it to my friends this morning!
  9. NES SNES N64 GameCube GameBoy Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Nintendo DS Sega Gamegear Sega Gensis Sega Dreamcast Playstation Playstation 2
  10. You know, for the displays? People are going to be swinging that remote all around the place hitting everyone with it. Since it's wireless it'll have to be chained down somehow, so you probably won't get a great test in the store. I can't imagine the concept working out too well in a store.
  11. What Nintendo needs to do is convince people that this is "cool" and it's the future of video gaming. They need to convince people that the PS3 and XBox 360 are in the past, and the Revolution's control type is the future. Convince Video Gamers that they haven't played a video game until they played a Revolution. If they can do that Nintendo will be at the top of the market, if they can't, I think this could be the end of Nintendo home systems. It's do or die now, Nintendo has a new product that they have to convince a lot of people on, because at first it does look silly.
  12. Video games have always been about evolution to me. I grew up in the NES days (I can't even remember a time without video games...). Obviously I had tons of fun with my NES, but when the SNES came out I couldn't wait to get it. It was so different. Sure the basics were the same, but there was so much added. Bigger worlds, story-lines. The graphics were better, just for the backgrounds. Video games became more alive on the SNES. Then when the N64 came out, I couldn't wait to get one. Mario 64 was amazing. It was an actual world. It wasn't 2D Mario going from one end of the level to the other, it was a full 3D video game world. Mario was alive now, he lived in his own world. When PS2/Gamecube came out, I really didn't care that much. I thought it was nice looking, but it was the same thing on my N64. Now Mario has a waterpack. There was no evolution. It was like putting on glasses, sure everything looks better / but your seeing the same things you saw before. Enter the Revolution controler. Things have changed again. With the add-on shell controler things can stay the same, but with the new "magic wand" things are going to be totally new and refreshing. Video games have evolved again, and I personally cannot wait to get my hands on this thing and shoot up some Metroids. It's going to be awesome.
