  1. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

Maybe 4 seconds of gameplay footage (understadable given the game's visuals) and we're also back to promoting the notion that the Wii U is only a gamepad add-on for the Wii.
  2. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

I find it funny how they give % review scores for the various aspects like innovation and accessibility. EDGE were right to make fun of /100 scores.
  3. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

First Layton game, there certainly is a lot of talking
  4. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

Once again, not bothering to give us original music for half the game. I wouldn't be surprised if the castle tracks are the usual stuff as well. So lazy, ffs Nintendo.
  5. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Legend of Zelda on the NES was my first, when I was very young. I remember tearing my hair out on Zelda II but loving it even more than the original, and played every game since (apart from the Four Swords games that I try and ignore). But Ocarina, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker were when my love of Zelda went to a whole new level. This is probably going to sound lame, but what I love about Zelda is that every game offers something different and they're all special in their own way. They each have highs and lows, but the highs are spectacular.
  6. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Had the intangible sense of 'magic' that Wind Waker also had in spades, and that's sorely been missing from the last couple of console Zeldas
  7. Are You Hyped?

The night before Wii was released, I couldn't sleep. And that's NEVER happened before with regards to a new console, or anything material like that. Of course it may have been the fact that it was Wii AND a new console Zelda on the same day, but regardless, I'm nowhere near as hyped this time around. I'm only buying Mario U at launch, but I'm so bored of NSMB that I'm not exactly beside myself with excitement at that either.
  8. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

I really really really hope they bring back the classic Zelda overworld tune in the next handheld Zelda. It's been far too long. Ok 2 games, but still. (though Spirit Tracks' overworld tune was pretty nice)
  9. Iron Man 3

Competition for Star Trek Into Darkness
  10. Oh wait, maybe I did shoot her down from the ceiling, but then don't you have to use Deku nuts to stun her? If you don't then then I waited for her to drop, THEN stunned. As for tutorial dungeons and how long it takes to get into the action, I think that's way down the list of priorities of gaming elements to 'fix' for the next Zelda. IMO.
  11. Agree that it didn't feel like a tutorial dungeon, and even if it did, who cares it was still action packed and you were thrown in at the deep end more or less. Oh and I've always just used Deku nuts on Gohma. Never thought to use the slingshot
  12. IMO: Fantastic game, with a huge number of flaws. As much as I loved it, I can completely understand the criticisms. Nintendo really need to up their game massively for the next Zelda. Forget making it all about the HD visuals, that's the icing on the cake. The series needs a rethink, to step outside of the box and stop rehashing (like they do for New Mario). Are Nintendo scared to make as big a leap/risk as they did from OOT to MM, and from MM to WW? I really hope not. Ditch the hand-holding, make it more open and definitely bring back that intangible magic that made Wind Waker a joy to experience. I'll despair if we get a Twilight Princess 2 in HD type of game.
  13. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

The backgrounds are fine, a couple of nice ones (and a couple of plain, simple ones that look upscaled from the DS) but there's no creativity or originality there. Unlike Rayman, DKCR etc. I would never call the level design of the NSMB games lazy, just the art style of this particular game, because it clearly is.
  14. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

It's definitely from something though. A past Mario I'm sure of it?
  15. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

Anyone recognise where the jingle at 0:24 is from? Driving me crazy
  16. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

The mountain region looks fantastic, beyond that it looks very very plain and safe IMO. I'm not going crazy, at 0:24 in the site trailer, that little jingle is from SMB2 on the NES right? I think that's the game it's from anyway. Definitely rings a nice nostalgic bell.
  17. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

Underwhelmed. Looks like the same old thing we've had in the three previous games. Graphics that would have suited the Gamecube perfectly. Just lazy and lacking any creativity. Yes they were piss easy to beat, but I LOVED seeing them return. Iconic boss from SMBW
  18. New Super Mario Bros 2

Oooh so cutting. Shame my first sentence gave neither impression.
  19. New Super Mario Bros 2

£2 is hardly going break the bank surely. Can't believe people are arguing over a few pennies. Greedy Nintendo, they didn't give us a £1 discount!! [/sarcasm]
  20. New Super Mario Bros 2

Woohoo, went from 120,000 to 1 million with that exploit. Would it have killed Nintendo to reward people with an extra level rather than the shitty 'reward' we got?
  21. Zelda II

I played it on the NES when it was first released, on the Wii Virtual Console and now on the 3DS a few months ago. Yes it's incredibly challenging, but so what, it's hugely enjoyable, satisfying when you do accomplish things and makes you approach every dangerous situation with huge care and attention. Every battle was tactical, rather than the brainless button bashing of modern Zelda (Skyward Sword apart, which was inspired by Zelda II). And anyway, even if you do start from the beginning after you die, more often than not it's very quick to get back to where you were with shortcuts (the hammer, raft etc...) IMO it was a fantastic time when Zelda wasn't all cutesy, linear and piss easy to get through like it is today, with hearts everywhere so you hardly ever die. But to say that people should avoid this game at all costs, that it's an absolute turd and barely 'deserves to be called a Zelda game', all because (boohoo) you had to be careful throughout and do a little backtracking... is a little ridiculous.
  22. Zelda II

No, don't stay away, it's an outstanding game, classic quality Zelda before it got all cutesy and colourful like we have now. But hey we can't all agree. Now, if you want games that aren't worthy of being called Zelda games, see Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures.
  23. Zelda II

I played Ice Climber when it was first released on the NES, one of my all time favourite retro games Wrecking Crew is also pretty fun once you get the hang of it
  24. NEW! Super Mario Bros. U

You've totally missed the point. Some cringeworthy statements there
