  3. PES 2009 Pro Evolution Soccer

Cheers guys, thought that seemed a bit wrong. 2009 here i come.
  4. Wii General Discussion

I'm not too fussed about missing Resi 5, even though i loved Resi 4. Its Street Fighter IV i really want and with a distinct lacking in terms of fighting games on the Wii this surely would have been snapped up by Wii only gamers. I don't know how they'd make the controls work, but then again they released special controllers for the PS360 versions, so it would be possible. I'm just waiting for the PC version now A new Resident Evil would definately be welcomed by all Wii owners Capcom.......so crack on BITCHES
  5. PES 2009 Pro Evolution Soccer

Would people generally agree with this??? as i never had 2008, but was looking at getting 2009 pretty soonish. Should i get 08 first??
  6. Football Season 2008/2009

There wasn't much positive to take from the (England) match other than the final result and the 3 points. But then again that isn't our first eleven by any stretch of the imagination. so all in all, its job done and lets move on. The positive. Despite the pre-match talk of crouch only playing because there was no-one else, he turned out one of our best performances. so well done crouchy (personally, i don't rate him either but you've got to admire him for his effort tonight). John Terry, captain marvel. didn't really have much to do, but him and Rio kept alert and delt decisively with most of what was thrown at them (to steal alan hansen's phrase "poor defending" on their goal). But Terry also played a major part in both our goals, deservedly being awarded man of the match. Gerrard and Rooney's linking was the final positive for me. It looked pretty decent at times, and as they get used to each other its only going to get better. The negative. Half of the players didn't seem up for the game, in my opinion James, Cole (who i'm also not a fan of), Johnson, Barry, Lampard and Lennon (again someone who i'm not a fan of) were nowhere near playing to their potential. And those remaining (bar Rooney), didn't really have much impact on what was in all fairness a dull game. As Flinky said if Rooney isn't supplied with anything he'll go looking to create something himself (something which should be admired), but do we really want a quality goal scorer to persistantly have to drop deep because a midfield with the likes of lampard can't seem to thread a decent ball through to him. I was pretty dissapointed to not see carrick get introduced during the second half. Good at holding the midfield, excellent ball distibution & plays club football in the same team as our star forward (good chemistry). Why not give him a crack?? surely he couldn't do worse than lampard, who quite honestly might as well not have been there. I would also like to question Capello on picking Lennon to start. Surely SWP from the start would have been the better option?? i just don't rate Lennon. he has so much potential yet he dissapoints everytime he recieves the ball. i just hope he has the dedication to work on his final product, because he could actually be good. Finally, to save this going on too much (already has?? sorry ), i was just dissapointed with our complacency. No urge to try anything from alot of the team, defenders trying to be fancy in the wrong areas of the pitch, stray 5 yard passes. I'm sure Capello will be fuming (and relieved). I don't want to be overly harsh (most of the above is probably the WBA fan in me frustrated with football at the moment), because at the end of the day the team achieved what it set out to do in getting the 3 points. I just hope this complacent attitude doesn't arise against an opposition that is up for a scrap, because it could easily have gone tits up tonight.
  7. Football Season 2008/2009

It was on the national news (ITV) earlier this evening. dont know if that means much (they might just be reporting what sky sports news have said)
  8. Football Season 2008/2009

This Shearer thing is beginning to look pretty legit. I would wish the man good luck, but we're in direct competition with them so..... "Good luck so long as it doesn't come at our expense" :p
  9. The Conduit

I've got Madworld (yes it is brilliant ) and will also be getting The Conduit.....so thats...... 11 - The Conduit 7 - Madworld
  10. Festivals 2009

I haven't been to Reading in years now (last time was 06) i always seem to end up doing stuff bank holiday weekend. What is going on with the prices the last few years?? the first time i went to Reading it cost £85 for the weekend (i think that was in 02) its now £70 for the day??? Oh well, the lineup looks alright so far. would be pissed off if i was The Prodigy though.....playing under the arctic monkeys
  11. Football Season 2008/2009

I'm still going with april fools.....unless Shearer is stupid Hes got absolutely no managerial experience and hes gonna cut his teeth with a Premier League relegation scrap?? Just can't see it happening
  12. Happy April 1st!

That was actually a pretty good attempt as april fools usually go I salute you
  13. Football Season 2008/2009

April fools maybe??? Bit ellaborate if it is
  14. PES 2009 Pro Evolution Soccer

Your just making me want this even more darksnowman. As soon as i'm back home (after the week end) this is a pur-chase. I hope the Baggies are up to date
  15. Punch-Out!!

Cheers for that Hero, I knew (hoped) there had to be more to it than can be seen from the videos they're showing us at the moment. Thats what i wanted to hear.
  16. I think that Daft is trying to say that there would be no point in just porting the games because they were designed for a system that is too different from the Wii, and any port would end up just being sub-par. As you said though..... the Wii could definately handle both fanchises, but they would need to be designed with the Wii in mind as the host system to take advantage of the Wii's strengths. :EDIT: At least i hope thats what he was trying to say
  17. Hopefully its just trying to be itself. I really hope not. I think fully editable & motion controls will be excellent. They're keeping back details on the multiplayer (as far as i'm aware, correct me if i'm wrong someone, i'd imagine they're keeping something pretty good close to their chests), but they've said the standard stuff at least will be present and 16 player online sounds promising to start with. Having watched / read interviews, the developers seem to be rather hyped about the game themselves (but then they're gonna be aren't they) and then theres Sega behind them. Sega seem to be publishing some damn good games at the moment and hopefully this will be another.
  18. Well the controls for a start, and just through having watched videos i've kinda got a feeling about it . I havent sat down and spent ages with every single one of the Ps3/360 FPS's, but i did try and get into Halo 2 (my bro had it) and honestly... i hated it. It just bored me. Now considering Halo is meant to be some kind of bench mark, it doesn't look good for the rest of them..?? I know i maybe shouldn't generalise them all to be the same (basically stating an uninformed opinion), but as i said...rose tinted glasses. Bang on the money there.
  19. PES 2009 Pro Evolution Soccer

Cheers aenaos. I'll have to be purchasing me a classic control then
  20. Resident Evil 4 - :)

...... Must.... resist... completely.. inapropriate joke..
  21. I like the way you get your point across there Aimless. I only own a Wii and can honestly say i'm very happy with it and don't really care about "missing out" on games*. There are so many quality games available (admittedly alot aren't 3rd party) that have been made specifically for the Wii. I don't understand the constant wanting of ps3/360 ports when we are getting games like Madworld, which make brilliant use of the controls and is an original concept (something that is hard to come by in an age of sequals) Just look at the number of 1st person shooters on the HD consoles, not one of them really screams out to me. Then look at The Conduit, that actually looks awesome, in fact it is the first fps that has caught my attention since Timesplitters 2. Maybe i'm wearing rose tinted glasses (must have forgot to take them off after watching West Brom) but for all the tat (and to be fair theres alot of it) there are plenty of quality games being produced by 3rd parties, which for me, helps (along with Nintendo's gems) make the Wii the best (most fun) console. To try and steer this back on topic, the differences between the Ps3 and 360 are negligable compared to the difference between the Wii and Ps360. Therefore, whereas its fairly easy to make good ports between the Ps3/360, Wii owners will only ever recieve a sub-par watered down waggle friendly game (if that) when getting true multiplatform games. The exception to this is Pro Evo, but then could you really say that is a true multiplatform game seeing as the similarity between the Wii and other versions starts and ends with the title?? Sorry if that is hard to read, i'm pretty tired *Apart from Street Fighter IV, which i will be getting on PC
  22. PES 2009 Pro Evolution Soccer

I'm really liking the fact that you have the option to play it like regular pes when the fancy takes. Good video / nando / I never played 2008, but the impressions from aenaos make 2009 sound brilliant. To play it like regular pes will i be able to use a GC controller? or is it strictly the classic controller??....my money's on classic
  23. Punch-Out!!

I'm still sat on the fence with this one.....It looks brilliant, but is it all style and no substance? From the footage (which there isn't enough of for me to have given up on this yet) it just seems to lack depth. I never played the original though, so maybe i need to go give that a try
