The fight at the end of the episode between Rick's group and the people of Terminus was absolutely horrible. I know the show's been struggling with their limited budget but this is absolutely embarrassing.^ YES.
Below: beware - there's a rare amount of swearing contained in the next spoiler tag... you know, for me....
let's get started.
...did you also notice the walkers in the background during the prison flashbacks (what the fuck was that all about?!) i don't think ANY of them were made up... i'm not sure if any of them were acting either... there's one guy in the background of the last flashback and i swear he just leans casually on the fence and watches the group farm... *sigh*
anyways - here's my impression:
1. fuck no flashbacks. FUCK!!!
this is what you get when you fire the original visionary director and slash the budget so hard it's practically an experiment to see if the new director guys can even BEGIN to pull it off.
Yeah i get it, he's being coaxed by hershall to interact with his son (and daughter) in a peaceful way, building a new tomorrow blah...
2. rape scene.
OH YEAH WHO CALLED THAT? *gives 'called it' trophy to whoever called that*
That was horribly done too. seriously - i get it's an awful topic and they don't really want to rub it TOO much in viewers faces (much like the horror with the sisters in "the grove") but you HAVE to have read the comics to know what the fuck was going on there in the dark. the ringleader (i couldnt be bothered to remember his name..) did say "we'll beat daryll to death, then we'll have the girl, then the boy, then we'll kill you" (what? you're going to kill carl? you're going to.. oh yeah that fat creepy guy i don't remember seeing in your group is totally.... oh......eeerghh) and i guess at one point you hear a HINT of a belt coming off... but it was really unclear to me as to WHY rick went SO nuts. Though, when Rick suddenly goes all "walker" on the guy....!!! wow. I didn't know how to feel about it... they're attacking Daryll, there's a gun on michonne and...well, carl..... rick acted in the desperation that i think most viewers would have been feeling along with him... they deserved it... but he'll never come back from that.
3. Terminus. you fucking smug-ass termites.
It did, and i'm glad it did. Walking dead has ruined me, I don't trust ANYONE. Especially people with SO MUCH GODDAMNED BBQ in the middle of the zambie 'pocalypse. Where's that shit coming from? I'll tell you where that shit's coming from...

The run through the terminus compound (while TOTALLY ridonk-a-donk... is everyone at terminus a stormtrooper in their spare time?? HOW COULD THEY MISS THEM? HOW? even if they were TRYING to miss them and therefore shepherd them into that random area with the train... HOW COULD THEY MISS?!)
*cough* where was i? The run through the compound was like a condensed "look at all this stuff we could've stretched out for 16 episodes but instead are going to give you some quick glimpses of weird oh my god what's that a pile of human bones yum hey look a room full of candles going to waste THAT's a really creepy fire hazard.
Oh wait... they're going to stretch all of that out for the whole of the next season....aren't they.....
4. "they're screwing with the wrong people"

I saw the trailer and thought - ooh that looks like it may have been a good book...!! Actually I bought the unabridged audiobook 'cause i've been housebound with a bad back for the past week and have been pretty much unable to do anything except stay at home and sit with a heatpad or lay on a hard floor - this is for when i'm on the floor
Because I really love the series... and I'd like to *own* them O_o
and of course...
Melt and pour suspension soap base. because who DOESN'T try their hand at soap making on their days off...?!

Me: To be honest I don't think anyone should lower themselves to the disgusting act of picketing a funeral, no matter how much they disagree with the lifestyle, or object to the evil life lead by the deceased. Let's not sink to their level
Person 1: Sinking to his level. Yes, picketing the funeral of someone who dedicated their life and funded an organization dedicated to spreading hatred and promoting violence to a minority group is totally the same as 'sinking to his level'.
Person 2: actually that's pretty much the definition of "sinking to his level"...
Me: Person 1, what i mean to say is that possibly the best way to show these people that their behaviour as a "church" is totally disgusting and immoral is to NOT do the same thing. WBC members picket weddings and funerals because they disagree with the "life choices" and "evildoing" that they think is being committed... which is completely wrong of them - as normal-minded people WE know that spreading hatred and celebrating someone's death is wrong no matter what we may think of their lives.

to be honest though, I would have been pretty happy with JUST the teaser trailer - especially when the movie is reasonably close to being released - but this trailer really ignites the ticket-buying part of my brain

Were those characters based on character from the comics?
Yup. They *were* based pretty loosely on the twin boys that are with the original group from the beginning. the boys lose their mother to walkers, their dad goes pretty bonkers then also dies... i forget how...i think in the initial prison fall-out, and the older of the two ends up doing EXACTLY what lizzie did in this episode - right down to "It's OK - (S)he'll come back, i didn't hurt his(her) brain"
while i knew it was coming, i thought it was EXCELLENTLY done.
Firstly, you know - you just KNOW - that when a character feels at-ease enough to tell a joke - something's about to go horribly wrong. Don't tell jokes, people.
The "hostage situation" created by baby Judith being at the scene was made all the more tense by the fact that we didn't know how long ago Lizzie killed Mika... she could turn any second. Also having Lizzie casually mention that "Judith can change too, [she] was just about to..." was, in some ways, even more horrifying than the fact that she greeted them with a smile while standing covered in her sisters blood.
ALSO! Can we just talk about the looks exchanged between Tyreese and Carol when she's trying to get Lizzie to go inside the house with Tyreese and the baby? Tryeese looks almost scared - he doesn't trust this little girl not to try and turn HIM, and he obviously doesn't want her anywhere near the baby - brilliant little non-verbal exchange there...
The conversation following all this between carol and Tyreese was really well scripted. First of all, Carol's dismissal of the idea that Lizzie might have killed Karen and David back at the prison - that would've been an easy ticket out of the situation for Carol, but she didn't take it. The conversation regarding what to do about lizzie now started with "She can't be around other people", they thought about ways they could split up and have one of them with Lizzie, the other taking Judith, came to the conclusion that no combination of options would work and ENDED with the phrase "She can't be around other people"... this time having a completely different meaning.
The "look at the flowers" scene was.... distressing. I think i would've felt better about the decision (from carol's point of view) if Lizzie had been more... crazy. instead Lizzie was upset and apologising for pointing her gun at carol and making her mad - not for, oh i don't know, murdering her sister.
The next scene was unexpected.
Carol pushes the gun over to tyreese and tells him (what i can now only assume is) the truth about Karen and David*
Carol gave him the gun and told him to do what he had to do - she was basically giving up and attempting suicide by murder. Predictably (well, not so much if you're basing your presumptions on Tyreese in the comic books, but predictably for AMC-show-Tyreese) he doesn't take the bait and forgives her. D'aww.
So the moral of this episode was: don't fucking tell jokes in the zambie 'pocalypse. bad stuff happens after people tell a joke.
*i had many theories, one being that lizzie did it and carol discovered them, put them down properly and burned the bodies and had been lying to protect lizzie - which would've almost made this episode MORE upsetting because carol HAD seen that lizzie was capable of killing the living in her delusion about walkers... making mika's death preventable.
Oh, also:
The opening sequence where the camera slowly pans across a working gas stove, plentiful food and the picturesque sound of a child's laughter could have been made SO. MUCH. BETTER if they didn't make it so obvious that the second person "playing" outside was a walker. If, in that opening sequence, they had omitted the "grr"s and "argh"s of the walker and kept the movement JUST a little more human-like, i really think it would've made more of an impact later on. Because there's working gas and so much food, i assumed it was a flashback scene, possibly of lizzie and Mika growing up. It would've made it more shocking when it was later reproduced with carol saving lizzie from the walker she was playing catch with... though i don't think they could've made lizzie's uncontrollable screaming fit that followed any more distressing... that was the moment i knew she (or mika) probably wouldn't survive past the end of the episode.
tl;dr: that was good.

I'm currently holding down a 4-day-a-week retail job (very easy, extremely quiet place, coworkers are nice, days are just a bit boring for lack of customers...) and am soon to start the big "delete my CV and start all over again re-writing it for a CAREER rather than a job".
just not really sure WHAT job title i need to be shooting for... I want to be in community management... or event planning... but i think i'd also make a really good company rep (hello, Nintendo...) i don't know.. and the contacts i have that could offer advice aren't being very forthcoming (i know they're busy.. but...) -

it's CRAZY that a company would use that kind of sign up then spam your entire contacts list - imagine if that HAD had that effect?! i once applied to a job while still employed and despite ticking the "do not contact" box, they called my then current boss for a reference... needless to say, that didn't go down well, so when the job i'd interviewed for called to say "thanks but no thanks" they got the earful of a lifetime from me.

UPDATE: I have a....thing.... next week. A company that I contacted are interested in possibly maybe having me in on a consultancy basis to work for them free of charge in a community management and marketing capacity... so i'm going in to talk with them (after signing an NDA so i can actually talk with them properly!) about what i'd want to get out of a work placement with them vs. what they'd get from having me there...
suggestions for what questions to ask of them during this "interview" would be VERY much appreciated.
i've also expanded/started to expand on my "portfolio" - i'm looking to set up a streetpass group for my local area and run events for this, and my manager at GAME let me do some work towards the sony pre-launch event, i'm also going to pitch another, charity fundraising event to her soon...

NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NOPE NO NO!!
That CAN'T be it. I JUST got used to the fact that "the mother" was THE mother and they KILL HER OFF?!?!?!?! They build up a character, a personality, a back story (a pretty good one - i cried my eyes out during "her episode". AND THEY KILL HER THE FUCK OFF?!

And they don't just kill her off - they do it in the SHITTIEST WAY: "oh yeah she got sick". That's cool, hollywood i was sick the other weekend bring her some soup and she'll be fine OH YOU MEAN REALLY SICK well it's a shame you don't have any brilliant writers on staff who might be able to convey that in a clever and eloquent way that isn't horrifically vague and hasn't been done a million times. She got sick. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKING HELL.

it's like the regular staff wrote the whole season UP to the last episode and then some random person got to write the ending because he won a bet or something. and they HAD to let him do whatever he wanted because it was a bet.
I've wasted eight years of my life watching this show.
