Obviously prefer a tv series but a book series is good.

What happened?

They didn't change the age of vote for men. Contrary to popular belief not all men could vote before 1918. You had to own property and other restrictions (basically only the wealthy could vote). The 1918 act saw that all men 21 and over could vote, and that women 30 and over could vote (but women were still subject to restrictions that men previously faced, such as owning property).

I'll look forward to it.

Forum sigs used to be so important, had to get the right image to fully express who you were as a person. Anyone who had some decent photoshop skills was creative king of the boards 15 years ago.

Is this Rokhed in disguise?

Pretty off topic, but I have a question. Was America ever really like that? Was it ever actually the land of opportunity, or has there always been a massive inequality of opportunities?

I think what you got was major brownie points.

I thought one of the benefits of living in London was "having everything on your doorstop"?

From Chaperones to Modesty Wear, a Sexual Reformation is Underway
MoogleViper replied to Grazza's topic in General Chit Chat
That right there is evidence, it might not be conclusive evidence, but it's still evidence. Also the numerous studies that show how many women say they've been sexually assaulted compared to men. There is an issue with men not feeling safe or comfortable reporting it, for fear that they will be ridiculed or not taken seriously, but that's a separate issue and not one that I think you're raising. -
A fair bit of bias again by the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-41850094

Whatever happens, Cape, I hope you're OK. The police brutality a few weeks ago was horrific so I hope things don't escalate.

I assume this is more of a power move, show that they're serious and not going to just lie down, than a realistic declaration of independence? Same thing as with Brexit, get screwed over.
-
If leaving Spain meant you couldn't join the EU (and under the current system, assuming Spain would vote against your entry, it's likely you couldn't) would you still want independence?
-
A lot of the media (which started around the referendum on the 1st) was quite right wing biased (as a lot of UK media has been these days). They presented the police brutality as trying to control the police, as opposed to militia enforcement. This sums up my feelings on the coverage: http://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/if-this-was-happening-in-venezuela-or.html Not having any knowledge or involvement of the culture, it's hard to comment on the move for independence itself. However as an outside it does seem that Spain are using their powers as a dictatorship to quell any sort of movement, rather than being diplomatic; bringing in police to physically beat voters, and now (potentially) instigating absolute rule. What I find most strange is how the EU and other nations seemed to have remained largely silent on this. I'm usually for larger unionisation with decentralisation of certain powers as a general rule, so would generally expect the best outcome to be for Catalonia to remain part of Spain with increased autonomy (again, speaking generally about independence movements as I'm not in any position to understand the psyche of Catalonia). However considering how Madrid has handled the situation I can certainly see why Catalonia would want to be separate from that. @The Cape you've given some excellent background information, but may I ask your opinions? Are you Catalan? (I think I can infer from your posts but wanted to check rather than assume.)

Ok I'm going to Bulgaria in August and I will only have 5 months left on my passport. Is this ok? I've heard some countries need 6 months and some need 3. If this isn't ok then is there any way I can get a new one in time?

Interesting that your right arm is significantly larger and more muscular than your left. Do you just do curls with one arm or something?
