[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
philcollins replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
again, missing the point. if zelda was created by an american team everything would fit just fine with the western voice acting. but it isnt, and there isnt a chance in hell a western voice actor is going to be able to voice a character like tingle and do a cringe worthy job of it. voice acting aint on the cards for zelda, and it shouldnt be. -
fighting enemies is better, story is alot better, dungeons are better. town and sidequests is better or on par. overall the game is longer and feels less rushed. the art style of windwaker is probably the best in the series but skyward sword is more consistant. (windwaker does not have full lighting, only in some dungeons.) wind wakers got better music. i think people look at windwaker through rose tinted glasses just because its the best looking game and has awesome music. fail to see how SS is not a patch on windwaker. its better in most areas...

people seriously think this has changed the formula to much?? .... as i was playing it i was thinking how they NEED to really change things next time around or its just going to become to boring by then. SS feels like a great step in the right direction, but the next game really needs to change things up a bit more. SS kind of felt like it was testing the waters. not a fully fledged formula change by any means. but i cant say i am surprised that people are bum-hurt over losing a big field. the whole point of the games design was to take out that part of the game. if you cant move past that why bother even playing it.

seems like it was a big misunderstanding. if he did do what he said - work with younger developers and worked on smaller projects that are more interesting to him. isnt this the best news ever? wouldnt that mean miyamoto is gonna be making games that he wants pretty much headed by him?

[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

i dont really think the point is the amount of effort put in. its just cultural differences. japanese treat voice acting as an art form, and alot of things about zelda, such as the humour, are really japanese anyway. so much charm is going to be lost. and replaced with very vanilla -but easier than reading text?- voice acting. maybe im just being picky for noticing the finer details of what makes a zelda game good? but i know that i would not be able to play through a western voice acted version of zelda. -

people who want voice acting are missing a big point. the voices in the game now(which are amazing) are done by japanese. if the whole game was voice acted, the japanese version would be great! and i wouldn just end up listening to that, with subtitles. it would basicly be similar to how it is now. the english versions voice acting would be subpar, cringeworthy, and embaressing. its a fact clear as day. -

[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
philcollins replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
alot seem to be complaining about backstorys of other games not being filled in. this is never gonna happen, this is just how nintendo do zelda games. they will have a few things link up (in ww you went down to hyrule, in tp gannon was sealed away and the temple of time) but for the most part they create the game in a timeline and then all the gameplay elements are pretty much created for the purpose of that game, not so they can fill in the blanks of later games that were made 10 years ago. that is just how nintendo have, and always will do things. besides do you really need little references to tell you stuff like 'here is where the gerudos started ' here is where the zoras started' it doesnt matter, they started somewhere, you can use your imagination. -
agree with whats being said about the fetching.. that brings the game down a notch also, one of the dungeons is weak.

just finished it.. amazing game. the whole story parts for the last section really blew me away. loved the last bosses!! cant take the review seriously after this, in one of the first parts of it. "main character on equal ground with the hero Link himself. Perhaps beyond Link even, as she’s definitely the more fleshed-out of the two." link a mute with NO character. thats always been the whole point! hes also saying nintendo live in a bubble.. well i as a nintendo fan live in a bubble to cus they are one of the only game companys who make the games i wanna play to a standard high enough. -
finished... what a game! i can go over to the spoiler thread now finally!
-
move it left to right qucikly, with the pace link walks.
-
just try to follow one of the guys arms.. i did it extremely sloppily and did it first time so i dont think it has to be very accurate.
-
i would say up to the point i am at.. you got nothin to complain about with the story. to be honest with you its blown me away in a way no other video game has, i just wanna finish it now.
