Also, Sony implied with their tiny bit of Killzone footage that it'd be shown proper at E3 in.. july I think.. or june... Can't remember, but it said E3 at the end of the footage for sure.

Precisely.

Personally I think it's great that they're finally properly difficult and focused enough to be overseeable in a whole different way than S-ranks on Sonic The Hedgehog was, where you didn't even really know what stuck you with a better rank in the first place. On top of that the levels in that game were sometimes absolutely huge, and at any time in the last minute of a stage they could launch you into one of those mach speed sections where you'd get intensly raped with cars to your face enough to fall right down to B-rank. In this they have short burst like challenges that you can actually restart quickly and figure out just where things go wrong. The fact that they're nail-bitingly difficult just make them extra great to finish. Also, a bit of a challenge is much better than the likes of Sonic Rush, where you're so incredibly done with the game in such a small amount of time - even counting the *proper* ending - there's really nothing to go back to. But about the no pearl ones, no they're not like the no rings ones. You actually fail the moment you grab a pearl, so you need to setup a different Skill Ring without any of the fancy pearl grabbing thingymabobs, add lots of defensive maneauvers like the Aegis Slide or whatever it's called, and make with the hands off approach.

Any mission in particular, Jordan? No damage I can usually manage (since I'm a fucking wiz anyway ) but the no pearls ones can be extremely difficult seeing as you can't even kill enemies or anything. But yeah, out of curiosity what missions are you refering to?

If anybody answers that, please keep it spoiler tagged.

Virtual Console - All you need to know

50hz issues as in..? Worse than their PAL cart counterparts or simply the usual PAL50 assyness? -
If only it granted similar pleasures!

Ahhhhhh! My poor pumping arms!

I have to say, the last level and the boss encounter are up there with Sands of Time for awe-inspiring sights. I'm happy to the point of nervous breakdown, for Sonic and for myself.

The book thingy is actually more fun than those things usually are. They have "achievement" like rank thingies that are quite cute. Also, the artwork and comments on the design on things range from cool-to-know to downright interesting. Jet showing up in the history makes me miss him though. I hope Riders 2 is still coming.

Actually, it was once we pressed the home button that the game went bananas. Then whenever we loaded it it of course loaded the save state and thus brought up the menu thing, forever damning it to fuzzyness. -

That the fuzzy image thing? A friend of mine brought his Wii to my place (I've got broadband and he doesn't) and bought Gunstar Heroes only to find it was all fuzzy and jittery on my TV. That the problem? -

Just wanted to underline this. Best analogy I've read in ages and worthy of applause. -

That's 'cause you were playing on easy. -
Well they're prolly not sitting there waiting for green light on pursuing a revival of one of their past franchises based on a poll, so it's fairly pointless in that regard. That's why the selections just seem rather uninspired to me considering much more oft-mentioned series worthy of sequels. Space Channel isn't on there, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, Comix Zone, Panzer Dragoon Saga. If we're talking wet revival dreams they seem curiously avoided in writing that poll.

Art isn't art because somebody says so. Art just IS. If this guy truly believes videogames are art (and he should!) then a word on a website is completely and utterly without significance. -
What a hopelessly limited poll. - NiGHTS - huh? - what!? - bacon. - whoppie! I can wear a shoe as a hat! Would've been about as obvious.

While I actually agree with this sentiment, it's sort of a consistent thing with Sega to have shite explanations for how to play their games. Gunvalkyrie, Shinobi, Billy Hatcher, Sonic Riders and even to an extent Panzer Dragoon Orta and Outrun 2 all suffer from a case of "they love us enough to figure it out". Well, *they* did when they played your games on the DC, because then they were nuts about you, Sega! Now they're normal people who are gonna give up when they die or drive into the railing for the umpteenth time for no apparent reason. So yeah, while theres blame in not reading the manual, Sega could do a much better job of explaining things and integrating that explanation into the gameplay to encourage actually paying attention.

...and a mini game collection. Best clarify that.

I think Sonic is an icon elevated above his videogame efforts unlike any other videogame character. I dunno if people would stick with Mario if his games sucked, but Sonic resonates beyond that for a lot of people. Hating games like Heroes and Shadow I can understand, but hating Sonic?
-
Is the inclusion of characters beside Snake even a remote possibility? I mean they say it "would be cool", but does anyone know if there's an actual, official push for this?

You're supposed to watch the triceratops. The one that wobbles will attack you. There's nothing in front of you in that section unless you run to the extreme right or left. Give the game time, all of those things is stuff you'll figure out eventually. Unlike previous Sonic games there's nothing in here that deliberately fucks you up unfairly or without reason. The fact that Sonic does a lot of stuff on his own.. well, I agree, and that's part of why this can't be the ultimate Sonic game for me. Even with the huuugely improved camera in Sonic The Hedgehog, people had diffiiculty adjusting it properly, so this is prolly the only way to give everyone a solid chance at getting good at the game.

I gotta say, nothing clears up whether or not you like a game like sleeping on it. Not, you know.. physically sleeping on it, mind, but letting your head rest and thoughts clear up. Waking up today I couldn't wait to start playing it again, and when I did my rocket start thingy and started controlling Sonic again it's like.... you know the feeling when your internet connection is dead for a while and then you realise it's back and the pages load? There's a crack reference here but I hope that'd be lost on everybody in here and that the internet one is more accurate anyway. So yeah, the game is good. It's genuinely good, and unlike STH and a lot like Riders, it's one I can wholeheartedly recommend people take the time to get into. Because on the other side of a learning curve and slow start there's a game I don't think possibly will disappoint. It's tradition that I review Sonic games so I'll write one eventually, right now I wanna get back and.. uh.. see my web pages load.

I'm confused by that too. I tried about 10 of the mini games and while not all of them are *fun* per se, none of them are broken the way Monkey Ball's are.

No no, not sucking, it's oddly tricky to pull off. Be sure to grind to a complete halt, jump straight up and dash past it.
