  1. Wibbley Wodwin Turns The Gweat Wirty!

Happy Birthday! Not long until your 40 now!
  2. Yo, Dunno if this has ever been done before, and if it has - don't really care! Anyway, the purpose is to copy my drawing below, and add something on to it. Then the next person comes along as adds something to that.. eventually something cool is meant to come out of it. I used to play it ages ago as a kid and I'm unsure whether it'll work on here.. but I'll give it a go anyway.. Rules.. copy the pic and play around with it in paint. Only work for 30 secs max on it as you don't want to become too complicated too quickk. Hopefully some fun shit will come out of it.. we'll see anyway! Go!
  3. PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk

This is a joke, right? Regardless, PETA are tossers. In response to this (whether it be a joke or not) I'm going to consume milk and beef tonight in the most un-Kosher feast ever.
  4. Homebrew beer

You can get a cheap kit from Wilkinson's - makes decent stuff too. You can also order it online I believe, or just pop in and get it. They sell kits for allsorts too - beers, ciders, wines. I tried wine last year and it wasn't half bad - although wine is a bit of a hassle since you have to sterilise much more stuff. I'd advise going with cider for the first time.. and everyone loves cider. Beer is a bit more hit and miss. The key thing to do is to sterilise everything with the powder/Campden tablets since bacteria = foul taste. And just follow the instructions, wait a while, then most importantly - get hammered!
  5. The University Thread 08/09

    It is an English degree...
  6. Pot Noodle Spinning Fork

    I want one.
  7. Cheap shit that betters the premium brands

Word. I always buy generics - just go into a chemist and ask specifically for generic whatever (as long as its off prescription). They should sell ityou for about a fifth of the price as you would the branded one. Its guaranteed to be the same.
  8. The University Thread 08/09

Word of warning though - the overdraft is great until you get out of uni when the banks impose their charges upon it. The student loan has interest that is linked to inflation - you don't pay any fees on top of this! If you go down the "oh I'll just use the overdraft" route then that can lead to getting a credit card,e tc = massive debt. The student loan is sensible debt - oh and you will need a maintainance grant unless your folks are paying rent and giving you an allowence.
  9. North vs South

Letters A clash of northern soul and southern arrogance * The Guardian, * Friday August 15 2008 * Article history How nice of Cameron's goons at Policy Exchange to remind us what the Tories are really like (Tory party's favourite thinktank brands northern cities failures, August 13). Move "darn sarf"? Most of them talk with that horrible estuary accent. Without the north we wouldn't have the vote: the Peterloo protesters, the Chartists and the suffragettes were all from the north. The trade unions were born in Manchester and the north gave this country the industrial revolution, which projected a small island to be a world power. The joule unit of energy, Whitworth engineering standards and Peel's police force - all northern. Manchester didn't have a seaport, so it built a canal to get to one; 5,000 Lancaster bombers which helped defeat Hitler were built at Chadderton. And the world's first modern computer was pioneered at Umist. As the late, great Tony Wilson summed it up, the only thing the south ever gave us was Chas and Dave. And what would music be without the north? The world-famous Hallé, the Beatles, Hollies, Smiths, Buzzcocks, New Order, Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays, Arctic Monkeys. In 2012 the cockneys will invite us down to have a good old knees-up at the Olympics. Sorry my old china, but you wouldn't be in a position to hold the games without Manchester's Commonwealth success in 2002, after London messed up a bid for the world athletics championships. Our thanks for this? We can have a football semi-final at Old Trafford. Between United and the scousers we have 31 league titles and eight European Cups - someone should tell Roman Abramovich that you can't buy class. So thanks, but no thanks. I'll stay up here, where people are friendly, still have the time of day for each other and don't rush to work staring at the floor. We still make proper fish and chips and we can have a pint of Joey Holt's beer for under two quid. The cockneys can be left to wallow in jellied eels and pie and mash, drinking flat beer at £5 a pint. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think my old man summed it quite well
  10. The University Thread 08/09

Not read through the rest f the thread but I started back on Friday.. been here a week. Joy. Oh, and the interest on loan reflects the interest rate. So if you buy a trolley full of shopping for £100 now, the money you owe in however many years time will be the same amount to buy the same products in that rolley.
  11. The London Underground

I love the underground - train every 2 minutes ans the all day saver fare is great as it xcuts ages off walking times. Great for getting around. Also appreciate the engineering and the 1900s style design of the tube - brilliant. Although I can appreciate it'd be rammed in the morning.
  12. Beef? We only serve Kangaroo here!

Vege food can be quite nice (slightly off topic I know).. the sausages and pies are great - prefer then over the meat version since the meat in sausages and pies is shitty offcuts - so healthier and taste virtually the same!
  13. Dreams of Penguins. Oft Kinky.

I have very strange dreams where I've killed someone or done some armed robbery and been subsequently on the run.. not very nice! I love a good fun vivid dream though.. one that makes you laugh afterwards.
  14. Beijing Olymics 2008

Great day in the pool for the British girls, like Charlie said, Hoff seemed to have it in the bag. I'm guessing she burnt out too fast which allowed the Brits to catch up. Although watching the pundits after they reckon Hoff might had got it if her hand was more straight touching the sensor as it was more bent \_ compared to -- (if you get what I mean..) Still, awesome to see two Union flags hoisted up Shame about Murray... although it did seem as if the Taiwanese bloke was playing a brilliant game. Is it ust three sets in Olympic tennis?
  15. Penguin Break Season 4

Pfft.. got bored with season two and haven't watched it since. It's been added to the list of shows-that-were-awesome-but-went-crap-after-lasting-too-long: - Lost - 24 (after season 6) - Simpsons -
  16. Beef? We only serve Kangaroo here!

    They're tasty. Try em.
  17. Downloading Windows

Ok, replaced my dead laptop HDD. Now I need to install windows on it, unfortunetly I've left my backup disc in uni and the fucker won't install windows. So I was wondering if its possible to download Windows Xp from a legit source, or an illegal one? I have the serial codes so I have bought it, just don't have the CD accessable. Its either that or I'll have to install 98, or try Linux. I fucking hate computers at times.
  18. Beijing Olymics 2008

Really loving the fact this is on BBC - no breaks and quality commentators. If it was on ITV or Sky it'd be bullshit adverts all the time and gormless pundits. Hoping that the BBC will keep the rights for it in the future. Great news of our first gold! The ending to that race was quite dramatic - coming back from the loss of speed at the final corner. Great.
  19. The War/Panic Thread

They'd just whack you in military prison though. Not nice, I believe.
  20. Jury Service

I'd hate to do it - I can't afford to take the time off uni, so it'd really fuck things up, especially if it was a long case.
  21. The War/Panic Thread

There's pros and cons: Pros - good armed forces to defend the country, teaches delinquents disapline and gets them off the street and actually doing something for their country Cons - its forcing people to do what they might not want I dunno if I'd be for it, its not that I think its a bad idea - just not convinced its necessary, yet. I'd get out of it anyway, and hopefully when I qualify I'd be an automatic officer.. huzzah!
  22. The War/Panic Thread

It needed to be done, the right decisions are sometimes the hardest. Like Fish said, the Japanese population were prepared to be a last ditch Kamikaze effort to repel the Americans landing on Japan - attacking soldiers with homemade weapons, etc. Therefore the cost of two nukes is far less than the many millions who could have died fighting to try repel the Americans. From a military point of view too, many more hundreds of thousands of American men who have been killed trying to capture Japan. war is war - and its better to kill the enemy than risk your soliders. Plus it no doubt saved many British and ANZAC lives by ensuring the withdrawl of the Japanese of out the British Territories. My grandad talks of how his unit were being prepared for a drop in Burma or Singapore, but due to Japanese surrender he didn't have to fight - lucky really.
  23. Monopoly

750 million people have played it, 750 million people have gotten frutstrated at it, but mos tpeople still love it - Monopoly, the classic board game. What's everyone's tactics? Today I went on building the vastest Empire from Piccadilly to the Jail.. houses on the blues and greens and hotels on the browns.. yet I still fucking lost (I was being too lenient.. anyway). What do you all do?
  24. HOLY FUCKI GSHIT

yeah but typing can be corrected if mistakes are made, or can be done slowly to avoid mistakes; whereas driving mistakes cannot be corrected and things can't be slowed down enough to ensure correct driving! Saying that, the will to type correctly goes when I'm pissed.
