  1. Now THAT felt like a dwarf episode!

I really took issue with the previous one.

This was good because there was ONE storyline and it kept focus. The last 2 had side ones.. I'm not sure it works.

  2. Sounds like I'll need to take some earplugs when I watch Skyfall for the opening titles.

Well it does bother me a little that all of Daniel Craigs films seem to use the same chords or at least structure as each other.

I do like skyfall though, sounds like a classic bond theme. It's certainly not Madonna bad..

  3. They did try to get Norman Lovett back to play Holly, but due to the Grant-Naylor company messing him around (the final straw was "Back to Earth" when they said to him keep the slot open, then never told him that he wasn't needed). I don't know why they didn't bring Hattie back to play Holly.

I think Holly is a rather pointless character at this point anyway.

Everything after series 2 is unneeded because Kryten took his role on explaining the technical information of whats happening in the episode.

  4. wayyyy too harsh on series 7 guys. There were plenty of good moments in it.

true it wasn't as good as 6 but remember it had 8 episodes. Rimmer was in 4 of them and that's not saying the kochanski ones were bad either...

  5. I really enjoyed the episode, certainly better than series 7-9 (back to earth is classed as 9 right?)

I did wonder wear that moose joke was going at first, i thought it was a weak opening joke obviously not realising it was a set up

Kryten was odd.... i can see they have altered him to be closer to season 3 Kryten and i guess address some of they questions of why he looked so different when he became a regular, i can only guess if they address it further it will be an alternate/spare head.

but all in all very good!

I'm not seeing the problem with series 7 to be honest. i thought it was great as well:)

  6. Bit of a crossroads in my life at the moment. DOn't know whether to leave the country and give up my job or go and do a masters course where I am next year. Either way I'm saving like crazy.

I would LOVE to go back to composing properly though sigh.

  7. Nothing against spiritual people people but religion has been holding us back as a race for far too long.

I do think if religion wasn't there to control us something else just as bad would however.

  8. This was amazing. Not sure it was ALL that in 3d though. I'm never entirely sure a dark movie will ever work in 3d but nevertheless

8/10. Very fresh yet retro. Hopefully this will signal a return to violent action flicks :)

  9. OH it's that time of year again ( well.. not really)

If you take halloween as seriously as I do then it's time to start preparing your costume. Otherwise this can be a general costume thread where people post their silliest outfits.

Last year for holls I did Club orange guy:

The year before I did Scully from X-files and a friend did mulder.

Trying to think of a good idea for this. I've narrowed it down to:

1: The penny from Ghost( the movie)

    2: Misty from Pokemon

    3: Staryu from Pokemon

actually thats all I got so far.

Anyone thinking this far ahead yet?

  10. I wouldn't find it as annoying some people but some films and series are BUILT on the ending twist or what not.

The Sixth Sense is the prime example. It's a fairly average film without the ending.

  11. Speaking of NES to SNES improvements, compare Zelda 1 to A Link to the Past. Big improvements no doubt. Now compare A Link to the Past with Link's Awakening on the GB. Aside from the smaller world, and obvious graphically and button limitations, they played the same with the same ideas and same design philosophies. But the GB is no more powerful than the NES so that shouldn't be possible, right? If anything, the jump to the SNES took the shackles of gameplay ideas that they thought not previsouly possible. Once they implemented those, they could see it was more their way of thiking holding them back rather than the hardware itself. Let's face it, a lot of early NES games were pioneering the genres at the time and it's difficult to see what is and is not possible and what will and won't work when you have no previously set boundaries to base it off.

    I've often thought this too.

I'd give Donkey kong land as a good example of this.

If you look at the restrictions here it's incredible these games came out the way they did especially considering how even the country games were top of their graphics game for the SNES. The gameplay is here much like the Zelda examples above.

    Even pokemon red/blue.

Pokemon is one of the deepest RPGs ever created and shows that with great restrictions you can do a game as good as the consoles were getting.

I almost wish these days developers would push handheld games as far as their console counterparts but this doesn't happen. Super mario land 3ds is a FAR cry away from Super mario galaxy and Zelda phantom hourglass is a far cry away from OOT.

  12. some of this name and hat stuff is comedy gold!

who said they bite the skin on their fingers? i thought that was just me! I'm always getting told of for biting my nails, but i'm actually biting the skin on my fingers - which is apparently even more disgusting and it wouldn't be as bad if i bit my nails...

I do the skin too.. It has left some scarry marks on my hands which is shit.

  13. I haven't played much on the Wii just some games in the earlier days. I blame the Wii for killing what little interest I had left in console gaming.

    WarioWare Smooth Moves

Wow... This one surprised me when it came out. It wasn't that the game was bad, but it really needed to be three times as fun-packed as it was. I returned it after 1 day required for completion for single player. I mean it's not like there is a multiplayer option to save it. It's in lot of ways the shortest game I've ever played. Warioware on gamecube was one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've ever had... WHY do they keep focusing this franchise on single player gaming.

    Super Monkey ball: Banana blitz

This one annoyed me a lot at the time because it managed to get 80%-85% reviews upon it's release suggesting the game was great, but lacked that small polish that made it a classic. Jesus this was bad.

    Animal Crossing Wii

Actually the entire series I don't get. The motivation to play the gamecube version was the unlockable NES titles in my opinion and that was a good feature. It was also a fun ride but I was SHOCKED at how little had changed in this Wii release. Even graphically.

I played this game twice before.....

    Sonic and the Secret Rings

OH good god who kept saying this was good? I'll say no more..
