No need to apologise. I understand completely that my shoddy connection was ruining the game for everyone else. I think I tried to send a message over PSN at one point for you guys to find someone else, but I'm not sure it got through. 95% of the time my connection is fine, but there have been occasions where it has just suddenly dropped off a cliff. My router is rubbish and usually resetting fixes the issues but it didn't tonight. I kept rejoining the game thinking, hoping, praying that it would work because I desperately wanted to keep playing. In the end, I realised I was just becoming a nuisance. I think ISP throttling may be the issue, and because my broadband speed isn't that great to begin with there isn't a great deal I can do. :/ I'm hoping that last night will be an uncommon occurrence - after all I've done Raids before without connection issues, but at the same time I don't want to become a burden if I suddenly drop out mid-Raid. I'm moving to London in January and will make damn sure to get super-duper-turbocharged broadband. I will be around tonight and would be happy to try the Nightfall.

I may be a tad late, depends on what time I get back from work. Will let you guys know if I'm going to be later.
  3. Destiny

No longer a 29, joined the 30 club yesterday!
  4. Destiny

Put me down for one of the slots please!

Had fun with the Hard Raid Tuesday night. There was something refreshing about actually having to figure out how to do parts of the Raid, as opposed to "just doing it" like you would on Normal mode. Thanks to the group for being a patient with me, I was very tired and it was my first time doing Hard without cheese. Thanks also to Daft for teaching me how to double jump properly! I'm available tonight, Friday night, Sunday and Monday night. Monday night would be fine for me, but Sunday would be more ideal since I won't have to worry about getting home from work in time. Hoping to get something good from Atheon since I only got Shards and Energies on Tuesday.
  6. Destiny

Sunday will work well for me. I could do tomorrow if the spot is still going.
  7. Destiny

I'd be up for Raiding with this group if possible! I'm also not part of one of the two regular groups and would be looking to Raid on a more regular basis. I'm currently a Level 29 Titan desperately in need of the last remaining bits of Raid armour. Is there a Hard Raid still happening tonight?
  8. Destiny

    I could also do Wednesday.
  9. Destiny

I would be available Tuesday night, but would have to stop around 11 at the latest.
  10. Destiny

Would be up both. I should be on this evening.
  11. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

It's not a bug per se. The c-stick has always been a macro for direction + A. The difference now is that you can now charge smash attacks with the c-stick, so if you hold the c-stick in mid air it overrides the left stick's input. This means that you can't control aerial movement with the left stick while the c-stick is being used. From what I understand, changing the c-stick controls to "tilts" instead of smashes allows you to regain regular aerial control with left stick. The downside is that you can no longer c-stick smash on the ground. I do hope they patch it back to how it was in Melee and Brawl.
  12. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

I get to play Smash a lot on my morning and evening train journeys. I honestly think that most of the single player modes are very underwhelming, with the exception of one of my all-time favourite modes, the Home Run Contest. Here's my current record with Old Manondorf:

    Yes please!
  14. Destiny

Absolutely, count me in for Thursday!

I would be up for the Raid as well if there's a space going. Alternatively I'm also free today and tomorrow if anyone fancies doing the Raid then. Also - bit of a stab in the dark - I'm currently doing the exotic bounty for the hand cannon Thorn. I'm at the last step where I need to kill Xyor the Unwed, which involves doing an Epic version of the Moon Strike. If anyone else is doing this bounty then please get in touch.
  16. Thanks for everything Haden. I credit you for bringing me into the league as I remember you sending countless PMs to get me signed up. The persistence paid off in the end! It's a shame to see you go. A few more seasons and I reckon the Legends would have got the title after many years in the wilderness. Nevertheless you'll still go down as one of the best managers in the league's history. One day I'll pass your 4 championships. You've always been the heart and soul of the league. We'll miss your season write-ups and wrestling gifs. A lot of us vets will have to step up to keep this place lively. It won't be easy filling your shoes though Haden. Hope you can still stick around the community and maybe post in the thread from time to time. Only one last thing to say... Haden... YOOOOUUUU'RRE FIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRREEEDD!
  17. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Nov 4th)

I do understand the frustration. Some players - perhaps those used to PC gaming - have a genuine preference for aim assist to be disabled because it's what they're used to, and having it disabled puts them at a disadvantage against everyone else. Still, I don't necessarily think that you're more hardcore or leet for having it turned off. I'm pretty sure pro Halo or CoD players don't turn theirs off. Sort of reminds me of the old c-stick argument with Melee. "True players don't use the c-stick, the c-stick is for noobs" some of friends used to say back in the day.
  18. Destiny

I'll be available tonight from about 7 as well. I'm now level 28 and would be up for doing either the Nightfall Strike or the normal Raid. Don't think I'm ready for the Hard Raid just yet.
  19. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Nov 4th)

It's hardly unbalanced if everyone has the option to turn it off and on. It affects everyone equally, you can't exactly complain just because you turned it off because "it's too easy" for you. My view is that aim assist in console FPSs is a good thing as it lowers the skill barrier for getting to grips with the basic shooting controls. It means there's more of a focus on tactics, teamwork, map positioning, etc, rather than a contest on who can shoot the straightest with finicky console controls.

Would be up for it. Eddage, Map and I did two attempts at the Nightfall Strike last night. Both times, we got to the final boss room with no problems, but died on the final boss. We did not have a great strategy to be honest - we would do the usual boss strategy of sticking together on one of the top platforms, but the problems would start when enemies would start spawning there as well. The biggest threats are the Psions who have Void armour and can OHKO you with their melee. I need to search Youtube for some strategies and see if there's an effective "safe" space to hide and whittle away at the boss.

Gonna say a massive thank you to @Sheikah for dragging my sorry level 26 ass through the Raid and generally for the fun weekend of gaming. Sheikah and I, plus Sheikah's friend and some randomers (who were not very good at following instructions!) started the Raid at 11pm Saturday and gave up final boss at around 4am. Our randomers weren't very good, and we spent a long time waiting for one of them to do the platforming section - Sheikah had to track back and walk him through it, he was that bad! Finally got to Atheon and after many many attempts gave up after people started leaving. I remember saying at the time that we would do it first try the next day and after recruiting LostMario and some good randomers we managed to beat him on the 3rd attempt. Didn't quite get the rewards I wanted - I only managed to snag the Raid gauntlets and the filter. Nonetheless, it was still very fun. Why isn't the rest of the game this varied? I'm now level 27 and aiming for 28 this week. Might be able to do the Raid tomorrow if there's room for me, but won't be able to stay up late. If not, I'd love to get back in the Raid action next weekend.
  22. Destiny

Yes, I'll be on around then.
  23. Destiny

I'm getting close to level 26 now - would level 26 be high enough for doing the Raid? I'm getting very jealous of all you raiders and want in on the action.
  24. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

If you're going to play a lot online, my best advice would be to buy the one most of your friends own. You'll get pretty much the same experience playing FIFA on PS4 as you would on Xbox One - the key differentiator would be being able to play with mates in my view.
  25. Wii U General Discussion

For the second question - like Serebii said, anything will do, but there's a few things you should look for if you want to get the best out of a console: -Unless you're buying a small TV, get a 1080p set. It will allow you to play all games at their highest resolution. These are slowly starting to become the standard, but there's still a lot of 720p TVs being sold. In general, 720p TVs are marketed as "HD Ready" and 1080p TVs are marketed as "Full HD". Go Full HD for full happiness! -Digital TVs all suffer from something known as input lag or display lag. Basically, this means there's slight a delay between your button inputs and the TV display (it's noticeable if you've ever played Guitar Hero on a large TV). Most modern sets have a "Game Mode" which mitigates the input lag by turning off some of the video settings, but even in Game Mode some low-end TVs still have intolerable amounts of input lag. More info here. This isn't something you need to scientifically research, just make sure that you read reviews of whatever TV you're going to buy ensure that they are suitable for gaming. -Check out what connection ports the TV has. All current-gen consoles require HDMI. You may want to consider getting a TV with multiple HDMI ports if you're thinking of hooking up multiple devices. Or you might want to get a TV with multiple SCART or Composite ports for hooking up older systems. -Finally, a TV is not just for games. Do you watch Netflix? Think of getting a "smart" TV that you can hook up to the internet via an ethernet cable. Of course a lot of this depends on your budget. For comparison, about a year and a half ago I bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma for £500. As long as I look after it, it should last me for quite a few years at least.
