Well, that looks like about half of what you're supposed to be getting. See, when they say 8mb they mean 8 megabits, which is 8 million bits. Bits are smaller than bytes, there are 8 bits in every byte. What this means is, basically, divide the speed of your connection (8mb) by 8 (amount of bits in a byte) to get the 'real' speed. Also, something to keep in mind: b=bits B=Bytes

If you did it fast enough, you could air-dodge and then use the grapple beam.

Right, as the title suggests, I'm going to buy a new computer pretty soon. So far, here's what I have in mind. Keep in mind I'm trying to keep the price to a mimimum. The Mobo is a Gigabyte 945PL-S3 Conroe. For the processor I'm gonna use a cheap 3.2Ghz Pentium D 2 Gigs of DDR2 160GB SATAII HDD And a 8600GT Plus a burner/case/450w Power Supply etc. Anyway, I have a few questions. 1. Whether 2G of RAM is overkill. The RAM is pretty cheap, though 2. Which would be better, DDR2-533, or 677? 3. Anything I should change with this setup?

Why wouldn't they be available? I would upgrade in about a year, maybe less. I know how the architecture differs, and I know that Core 2 is better, but I wasn't sure if getting that processor would give a significant jump in performance. If it helps. it's a Pentium D =p, but yeah, it did fail. They may be bad, but I'm sure they can handle all current games, plus I can probably have a go at some DX10 games. It also falls pretty much right in my price range. I guess I'll be using for gaming more or less. What I was looking to do was to put together a cheap system, which can be upgraded. The card and the RAM should last a while, and the processor can be upgraded whenever and adding HDDs would be no problem.

Ok, so a new power supply and a different processor..... The power supply shouldn't be a problem, but is that D 3.2ghz really that bad? It's about 50 bucks more (AU) for an E4300, so if I did switch, that's probably where I'd go. Is that jump worth it? Plus, I could upgrade anytime, since the mobo is 775/Core 2 ready.

I think graphics DO play quite an important role in games, and I think Nintendo cut back far too much on this console. But then again, there haven't been any 1st or 2nd party games for the Wii out yet, bar Sports and Play. Zelda was developed for the GC, and it looks arguably better than Red Steel. I hope Brawl, MP3 (Especially) and Galaxy have brilliant visuals. Anyway back to the first point, graphics do matter, along side with power. For example, take Final Fantasy, 13 if you will. Graphically it looks absolutely stunning. If it were made on the Wii, the graphics would have to be toned down ALOT, not to mention length of the game would have to be shortened due to space constraints. And all for in exchange for what? Innovating controls? Perhaps using the pointer to navigate menus, etc. but nothing absolutely revolutionary like sports games and such. Anyway, the above is all hypothetical, and won't ever happen, if FF was made for the Wii, it would be built ground up for the Wii ( and it would look amazing. This is Square we're talking about). It's just to prove a point, graphics do matter, along with the power of the console.

I really, really don't think Marth will be cut. Sakurai said they would have 35-45 characters in the game, so I doubt they would cut someone as popular and widely used as Marth. The team thats making Brawl are also all huge fans of melee and know it inside and out. I'm positive that Marth will be in Brawl. Of course, I'm not Biased, not one bit =p (pay no attention to my username) Also, I agree that Cel-Shaded link would look a bit out of place, but what about a cel-shaded mode, where all the characters were cel-shaded? That would work pretty well.

I hope it looks pretty good graphically..........the E3 Demo was alright, definately and improvement but....not much. But then again, that was early stages of development and we haven't had any new MP3 media since then =/

I think, instead of taunting with the d pad, it should be used to jump. With the GC controlles, X/Y was used to hop, as it was extremely difficult to do it with the control stick, and hopping is pretty important in SSBM, it probably would be important in SSBB too. Don't know where taunt would go though =/

I need a DivX to MPEG converter, I searched through google, but almost all of them you have to pay for, and the other ones dont seem to want to download. Does anyone have a converter that's free?

Well, I encoded it awhile ago, but then left it at that. It suffered quite a quality drop, though, anyway to get around that? Im burning it to a dvd as im typing, to see if the quality shows up a bit better on a tv. I got a 3.2Ghz, with HT if that matters.

I got FAVC, but its going at about 5fps. Also. should it me MPEG2 or MPEG4?

well, my friend encoded some movies for me, into DivX. I want to burn them to dvd, because then I can probably fit 2-3 movies per disc. I thought encoding to an MPEG4 using VirtualDubMod would work, but it didn't. What can I do?

yeah, I got VirtualDubMod instead, that does the job.

wow, thanks for the quick reply. I'd totally forgotten about VirtualDub. I had it installed, but I didn't get around to re-installing after I formatted. As for movie maker, Ill give it a shot. Thanks again.

wow, my EB has that too, (below PS3 ofcourse) they also have lotsof DS lite ads., however, they dont sell cube games anymore. I've seen the pre-order brochures etc.( i live in Aus) but ill be getting mine from a launch party. Another pre-order deal is from a store called Gametraders. They suck quite a bit, but they are offering to "give the best deal" and delivering the Wii on launch day.

well, I thnik if you should wait for intels core 2 cpus to launch, supposed to launch on the 27th of July, then make a desicion, btw its still 775.

wow, thats like the same copm im planing to buy. I checked out a few sites and I can get it for just under $600AU, same specs, but the mobo is probably different, and I dont have a floppy drive, but I have a 200G HDD.
