  1. Haha, I have my ways of making any Pokémon usable.

I said Grumpig was meh in battles. Not useless. It makes a decent special tank and no-one really expects it. Shame it hasn't got much recovery options apart from rest.

Now if you want a truly rubbish Pokemon, you go for Kecleon. That ability tends to do more harm than good.

  2. I must be a rare exception.

My Mum ADORES Mario platformers. And Mario Party, she can't say no to Mario Party. She's never gonna finish the original NES game. But she'll try for eternity! She's played that more than I have at this point.

She has finished both of the New Super Mario Bros portable games. (And the console ones, albeit with me playing at the same time)

Annoyingly enough, she holds all the top scores on Tetris...

I suck at Tetris and she's semi-decent so I'm never topping it myself...

  3. Fun fact...I'm raising a Grumpig at the moment :p

Have I entered the Twilight Zone or something? What brought this along?

As much as I like Grumpig, I won't let it blind me to the fact that it's pretty "meh" in battles.

Not that stops me, if I can't battle with my favourite Pokemon, then I don't want to battle!

It's cool. I tend to like Pokemon that are a little but underpowered. I obviously love Starmie, which is a beast, but I have a massive massive soft spot for Onix and Victreebel. Both of which are pretty lame in battle.

    Kinda like Grumpig then.

  4. Gonna spend some more time on this today hopefully. Liking the Politoed Glen!! Even if I don't care too much for the Pokemon itself! :heh:

Oh, well, be prepared for another Politoed picture, I had too much fun with this one. I want to draw it with markers now!

I'm starting to think that my favourite Pokemon are really unorthodox now. Serebii doesn't like Grumpig, you don't care for Politoed...

I like all the froggy Pokemon! I'm pretty biased when it comes to the reptiles!

  5. Jigglypuff is awesome and there's no way they'll drop the big pink ball of love.

A character that has been in every Smash to date and has a pretty unique fighting style?

Yeah, Jigglypuff is in just as much as Ness and Captain Falcon. No doubt about it.

  6. Gamespot have some footage up and it looks like it's an updated build.

-Severely reduced loading times between the end of the match and the results screen.

-Fox can now jump after his side b!

-Mario now has very little landing lag (looks like they've taken some advice for the people that played the game at E3). This means that you can now use his aerial attacks without being vulnerable for a long time afterwards. Hopefully this will apply to other characters.

-Characters seem to be dying at much lower percentages too.

Best news out of the lot!

  7. Waddaya win at the end?

    You mean the legendary cards?

Firstly, there's this piece of crap. Firegiver is the only decent thing about it, if you're lucky.

    gb_promo_2__moltres_by_ilkcmp-d4ppigl.png

    Articuno is pretty decent though.

Can't find an English version of this one...

Basically the Poke Power removes 20 damage from your active Pokemon and every Pokemon on your bench when Dragonite is put in play.

The attack is 30 times 2 coin flips. It's not bad. Possible 6 Potion usage in one turn can be very handy.

    180px-DragoniteCardGBPromo.jpg

And finally, there's the worst of the lot!

    180px-ZapdosGB1.jpg

That attack does 70 damage to a Pokemon at random, whether it's one of yours or not! The only way to guarantee you won't be hit with it is to have no Pokemon on your bench.

The Poke Power does the same thing when Zapdos is played, except it's 40 damage...

    Useless!

  8. Japan is getting Golden Sun: The Lost Age next week so confirms we should be getting it at some point, although I'm pretty sure we're behind on GBA titles, unsurprisingly.

Sweet! Been wanting to get back into that for a while after finishing Golden Sun VC.

  9. In case you needed proof that Ronald is a complete and utter dope!

    zlCfzSLDOiEFbEPUdU

He had a perfectly OK Dragonite, and yet he STILL chose to rely on that dumb Moltres to try and finish me off.

So yeah, I'm done. Courtney was a cakewalk, didn't even get a chance to use her Ninetails before my Dewgong battered her. (Why couldn't that happen with Ken?)

I do believe that makes me the second person here to post this screenshot.

  10. Just imagine if it was playable at the same time as Virbank City Gym Stadium card:

    126-virbank-city-gym.jpg

Technically it is since there's a Team Plasma Crobat:

    55-crobat.jpg

But it'd take too long to get going. It's all about "Big Basics" at the moment.

Every time you show me these cards, they seem so ridiculously overpowered that they make me feel old.

  11. -Lapras, Horsea. Good for stalling while you build Blastoise in the back (Squirtle also works, if you got nothing else).

-Pokémon Trader, Computer Search. Get Blastoise, Squirtle or whoever else you need.

-Pokémon Breeder. Less cards, same result.

-Professor Oak, Bill. It would be embarrassing to run out of energy after Rain Dance is on. Plus, they just help with everything.

-Gyarados, Articuno, Dewgong. Get them heavy hitters up and running, if you can't build Blastoise, you can still build these guys.

Also, against fire, Staryus are deadly, and worth using.

I only just got a Lapras! No kidding! I had one earlier. But I couldn't say no to that Promo.

Also, don't have an Articuno. Not one. My Water Pokemon really do suck on this run. I've spent about an hour grinding the Water club in the hope of getting more Lapras, Blastoise and Articuno.

    Water Pokemon hate me...

  12. I have to be very careful with what I say these days. Can't speculate about Smash or Pokémon because my word is seen as carved in stone often.

Couldn't you just say something along the lines of "This is just speculation on my part but..."?

Seems a pretty simple solution to that.

  13. Quadruple Poison for one energy is overkill...

    Anyway, carried on a tad.

Next up, I took on the Fire club with my "You can't wash a" deck! I struggled, to be fair. I always struggle with Ken and his bloody Arcanine! Once I finally got a Blastoise after 2 defeats, it got a lot easier!

    zlCfzSKyNbwIYSYwII

After getting the second promotional Mewtwo card, I modified my "Think about my" deck and went to the Fight Club.

However, turns out that was actually a movie...

So I went to the Fighting Club and fought Mitch.

    zlCfzSKyQjAQ8-afj9

All it took was a Gastly...

I'm never gonna use those bloody Mewtwos, am I?

After that, I made a deck called "Jimmy set fire to my" deck and challenged the Grass Club.

    zlCfzSKyS3cnrEMbTC

It seemed to be a bad start, my Eevee got paralysed on Nikki's first turn, but then I instantly drew a GB Flareon, and due to a double colourless and fire energy proceeded to grab Nikki's deck and rub it all over her stupid face in a circular motion while shouting "NEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

All that's left is to take on the Grand Masters.

  14. Yeah I remember that. I just hope that they don't reveal all the hidden characters. It's not the same when you know who the NEW CHALLENGER silhouette is already...

The funny thing about the NEW CHALLENGER silhouette is that in Brawl, most players never actually saw one. Due to the Subspace Emissary being the easiest way to unlock characters.

Now that I've taken that trailer in, I can definitely say that Robin was the best thing about yesterday.

I mean, there was no doubt Captain Falcon was making a return and characters with new mechanics will always win out for me!

  15. All the characters for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U and all stages for the 3DS one will be revealed in CoroCoro next month

Looks like they're going the Mario Kart 8 route and showing their entire hand to build the hype.

Awwww... I was hoping they would keep some secrets...

This is because everyone just looked at the Subspace Emissary cutscenes when Brawl was released in Japan, wasn't it?

This is why we can't have nice things!

Well one month for Japan :p

Just had a reminder, though, about CoroCoro promising similar with Brawl back in 2007. They didn't reveal ALL the characters back then.

Oh, maybe it's not so bad then.
