  1. What The Hell?? Nintendo Wii!!??

Imagine the confusion in Scotland. "I'd like to buy a wee wii" Seriously, I thought Nintendo couldn't get any stupider, I thought they were improving but clearly not. To be honest I can't do anything but laugh. Its a joke, can you really picture yourself walking into gamestation when the release date is announced and saying "Can I put my name down for a Wii?" They must rebrand this for the West or they will die horribly at retail.
  2. What The Hell?? Nintendo Wii!!??

Its official. http://www.nintendo.com/home http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/index.html I hope to god this is all just a big wind up. They said they wouldn't announce it until E3 didn't they? Please let it be a big wind up
  3. What The Hell?? Nintendo Wii!!??

Oh. Dear. God. Why Nintendo? Wii? Thats if it is what we're all assuming it is, which I'm willing to bet it isn't. They're not that stupid. Are they?
  4. Nintendo Live?

I think having gamertags/friendcodes so you can see when your friends are online and arrange games is fine but you should be able to play against/with anybody on the wi-fi connection in most games, although the likes of Animal Crossing should use the friendcode/gamertag system in my opinion, I don't want just anyone visiting my village. However, having a universal friend code would solve any annoyance that such a system may cause.
  5. Nintendo Live?

Yeah I think with the USB slots we'll just be able to plug in any keyboard although I'm sure Nintendo will release an official one. Its basically Xbox Live combined with MySpace/Deviant Art by the looks of that which is pretty much what Nintendo should be trying to do for their online service. If they implement all those features and do it well and just have a universal friend code or 'nintentag' (gamertag) for all games then they'll have a top quality online service.
  6. Virtual Console Wish List

What would be cool is if the shell used for the virutal console looked like this mock-up, with the buttons lighting up as appropriate allowing for games to be played exactly as they were intended on all virtual console systems. Can't imagine it though, I expect it'd be expensive and power consuming, do unless it was just LED's used but I can't see how you'd be able to fit that many LED's into one button. Still, it looks pretty funky
  7. Virtual Console Wish List

A, B, X, Y - Thats enough face buttons for SNES, NES, N64, Mega Drive and PC Engine Games. A and B have their normal uses and both X and Y can be used as the C-Button. Problem solved
  8. Elebits!

Sounds promising, look forward to hearing more about it at E3.
  9. Tecmo Golf Title Going Offline

Neither online multiplayer nor golf games are particularly interesting to me so I'm not at all worried about this news, however it does worry me slightly that its been pulled - Why would they pull it, I can't see how it would be particularly difficult to implement which suggests to me that Nintendo aren't doing a good job with getting their online set-up working (for games, not downloadable content) I could well be wrong, and I hope I am because I know how big a pull online multiplayer is to people but I wouldn't bet against it. Of course it could boil down to something as simple as them not having the time to implement it because they're working on other projects and want to get something out for Revo launch without too much effort.
  10. Your GameCube collections

I have it on PS2 (It was a third of the price) - Its an awesome game, easy but everyone should own it
  11. Didn't a developer already say that they were using the third secret before they even knew it was a secret? I think it was Ubi Soft? I think this seems very probable to be honest. Maybe for example in an FPS you could slash the Analogue attachment up and down to perform a melee attack, or move it right to left in order to strafe. Certainly would give more options for control and there has to be something more in the Analogue Stick attachment or it'll feel almost weightless.
  12. Indeed, they have to be amongst the most drab and dull FPS games ever created.
  13. They did, and you could shoot chunks out of people if you were that way inclined. Postal 2 is a pretty brutal game too, although the graphics are slightly cartoony. Also I don't understand how the Ada missions aren't worth it but slightly better graphics are - The fact that you can still get about £20 for the gamecube version on trade and pick up the PS2 version for £15 makes it even better. I wouldn't recommend buying a PS2 just to pay it, or paying any extra but the Ada missions add a lot to the overall story and the graphics are still amazing.
  14. Or there could be the fact that its an excellent game. The last one was perhaps a disappointment however its an extremely well developed game, creates a truly immersive environment and is a whole lot of fun, the plot may not be too great in any of the games and some may see the violence as excessive but its still an excellent series. It sometimes seems to me that the cool thing to do is to slag it off just because casual gamers like it, despite the fact that it just happens to be a rare game that almost everyone can enjoy in some capacity.
  15. I don't think Nintendo should go all out and fill the game with characters from other developers, but putting Sonic in it would finally bring an end to the Sonic vs. Mario debate that anybody who's been playing since the Mega Drive vs. SNES era knows needs settling. I wouldn't like to see him start cropping up in Mario Kart etc. though For Smash Bros as long as they remove some of the crap characters, remove the clones (give them all individual abilities, its not hard!) and add a few characters who belong in it (Especially Wario!) then I'll be happy with the character list. Add in to that improved single player and huge online tournaments and it'll probably be the best fighting game any of us ever play. I want them to keep the format though, not change it to a powerstone syle format - Powerstone is Powerstone, Smash Bros is Smash Bros. It should stay that way.
  16. Most gory game ever? Far from it I'm afraid - Its no more gory than your average action game. Soldier of Fortune (and its sequel) are what I'd call gory games. However, Resi 4 is probably the best 3rd person action game ever developed. It doesn't do anything unique or new but what it does do it does beautifully. It basically takes the genre as it exists and refines it so much so that its almost flawless. Which versions best? Well I owned the cube version until I bought a PS2, it seemed senseless to own both games and I wanted the extras of the PS2 version. Overall, the PS2 version is not as nice graphically although its not terribly noticeable most of the time, its only certain times where things such as steam/gas effects are used that it really stands out. The new Ada missions are perhaps more enjoyable than most full game releases, and a decent length to boot - If you haven't played them through then you really haven't seen all of what Resi 4 has to offer, they're outstanding. Regardless of which system you own it on its definitley an incredible title.
  17. Force Feedback for Rev?

It makes sense and is in all honesty quite likely, a rumble pack won't do the trick. In reality this is most probably the much fabled 'other secret'.
  18. Donkey Kong Revolution Confirmed!

Unless you cancel the direct debit before the next payments due. You're only contracted to that first 3 month subscription. You can cancel at anytime.
  19. Virtual Console Wish List

To be honest Paper Mario is probably one of the nicest looking N64 games, we all know that 3D on the N64 was generally quite blocky, however it was only used in the backgrounds of Paper Mario and thats the style, it works well. The character sprites are well animated and look almost identical to their Paper Mario 2 counterparts. Think lower-res Paper Mario 2 with less detailed backgrounds and you're there, it should still look great, certainly does on my N64
  20. VISUAL DISRUPTOR!

Nintendo are trying to bring in non-gamers as well as the traditional crowd, something like this or VR will scare them off. It'd totally go against everything they've said so far. Also, explain the Red Steel pictures, just standard screenshots and thats all we have to go on so far. I highly doubt this 'final secret' is anything visual. Nintendo have gone on about wanting to change the whole 'plugging a system into a tv' thing but it doesn't mean it'll happen with the Revo.
  21. Virtual Console Wish List

Those of you who missed out on Paper Mario for the N64 are in for a treat, you'll probably neglect your new Revo games to play it if its available from day one. The best game on the N64 in my opinion and a superior game to Paper Mario 2 without a doubt.
  22. What's in the Flap...

Problem being that SD cards are tiny, you could probably fit 6 or more SD cards in that flap quite easily. Its certainly possible (And I'm sure IGN confirmed it) that the flap will be where the SD cards go, but its perfectly feasible that something else could go there as well.
  23. Not a chance, I'm a collector and although my Cube won't be hooked up to my TV - It'll find itself sat on a shelf, looking pretty with all its leads tucked away in a cupboard. My 64, NES and SNES will probably all remain plugged into the TV though, as such I won't be buying too much on the Virtual Console, it just isn't the same as playing the original game, on the original system with the original controller.
  24. I don't want to see the shell used for too many games as I feel most often it'll just get used for lazy ports, however certain games may just work better on it and if the developer feels the shell is best suited for that type of game then fair do's. I think largely though it'll be used as an alternative for people who don't own gamecube controllers and want to play Virtual Console games. As for the virtual console control schemes? I think its most likely you'll be able to choose your own configuration.
  25. Hell yes There's honour in being beaten by someone like Roy or Link but when Kirby/Pichu/Pink Luigi kick your ass it really does, as you say, rub salt into the wound
