  1. Well the jokes on them, ordered a premium console bundled with pro evo, gears of war and an extra wireless controller for £322 instead of £350. Now I could've got better deals in gamestation, but I didn't want PGR3 and all the other crap they throw in.

Virgin do student discounts instore, as it said so on the labels of the bundles when I was pricing 360's up before I got one.

I got mine from Gamestation instore, PGR3 (that I gave to my brother for Xmas as I didn't want it), GoW (Special Edition or whatever it is), Viva Pinata and an extra wireless pad for £320.

  2. For those yet to get Gears of War and are planning to, or for those who haven't played it in Co-op, I highly suggest you do. It's so much more fun.

I played through to the end boss at first (only on casual) by myself, but was having a bit of trouble with him. My computer controlled buddy just kept doing little suicide runs and being useless. My brother came over yesterday and we did it second go. (My brother was a bit of a fool and died the first time, but it was Xmas so I let it go).

Also, having moved up to the next difficulty level I'm only playing it co-op now (played tonight with Haver), I think it's easier than it was on Casual having a human team mate.

Away from GoW, Viva Pinata is still excellent. I'd left it for a while, but got back in to it last couple of days having only just bothered to set up another couple of gardens, makes it so much easier being able to set aside certain gardens for water pinata and stuff like that.

  3. In the last one I tried having clipped a lamp post while riding a motorbike the bike (with me on it) got sort of dragged up to the top of the lamppost.

I think that was about third GTA game I'd given a go. Never played one for more than about 30 mins at a time because I've always been put off by some sort of crash or strange event like the lampost one.

  4. I had a trip into town earlier today. Nothing anywhere as I expected. Checked two Game stores, Tesco, Gamestation, WH Smiths, Woolworths, HMV, Virgin Megastores, Comet, Currys, PC World... the list goes on.

Microsoft really ought to pull their fingers out, these shortages are annoying. I mean, I have the bloody money right here waiting for them to snap it off me but nooooo, they insist on not supplying my demand and therefore I'm stuck in SD DVD land for the time being. I guess the £130 will come in handy next week for the Wii launch, but still. STILL!

This does deserve it's own thread. We can all stalk online stores for the things!

And what may I ask happened to you seeing sense and realising they're a pointless waste of money at the moment?

  5. Is the HD-DVD drive even worth it right now since theres not much movies out for it yet?

Nope, and IMO may never be worth it. Both next generation DVD formats could end up being bypassed by the mainstream in favour of just sticking stuff on hard drives the way things are going.

I'd far rather have more games than an HD DVD drive that could end up being next to useless.

  6. Is it worth someone setting up a 360 console bargains thread or something? I'm thinking of getting one in the next few days you see and can't be bothered to go around checking everywhere.

I was in town on Friday pricing up different options and very nearly started grabbing random kids to see if they had a Virgin student card for the discount.

  7. I listen to the Gervais one always without fail. I sometimes listen to a couple of different World of Warcraft ones, and I also try to catch Audio Fusion just to remember what some of my friends sound like.
