  1. Huh? Why downgrade from something that works across all phones to something that only works on one brand of phones?

Interestingly, BlackBerry may be announcing an Android version of BBM later this month.

Simply because all my friends are too cheap to pay the tiny amount for WhatsApp and since I'll be moving back to Aus soon, hopefully, the only person I do use WhatsApp for I will be able to use the retro IM service of actually talking to. WhatsApp is great, and really kept my relationship going however regarding messaging people back in the UK when I'm gone is not really something I'm interested in. Maybe die to time difference and locality but I prefer waiting a week or two and then writhing them an email. So essentially once I'm back with before mentioned fella I'll only want to overseas IM parents/siblings maybe in the case of an emergency who all have iPhones and are too cheap to buy whatsapp. Aussie friends I'll just get back my unlimited messaging plan for.

  2. Flameboy if you and your girlfreind ever want to change phones, then you should consider to get whatsapp, and you don't have to pay extra for a service like bis, just uses your standard interent. It's also cross platform.

Me and my fella use Whatsapp (although probably ill change to iMessenger when it's out) and it's been a godsend. Couldn't recommend it enough.

  3. Hmm you know what as I'm away for the next few days with work/a wedding

What Ash meant to add there is; "And Fresh is in charge, obey minions."

    [sometime later upon Ashleys return]

But, but, but... Ashley... I promise you this battle-station will be fully operational.

  4. 2009-10 he had quite a few injuries, but checking wiki he seems to make there-or-abouts 30 league apps a year. Which isn't too bad. And yeah I think he does take set pieces for Everton.

As someone said on twitter a few minutes ago this deal is similar to when we almost got Xabi Alonso. Took the piss making our mind up, left it too late and missed out.

Well he looks just the player you need, PL experience, relatively inexpensive for a player of his quality, creative, and right footed (for free kicks as oppose to left footed RvP)

    Arsène....

  5. Apparently we're still working hard to sign M'villa.

As for the pace thing, That's good enough for me.

That is against JT though. Lets not use his pace as a benchmark for quick CB's. Plus neither of them would keep up that kind of rapid acceleration for 90mins.

Apparently we're now in for Arteta, I'd be happy with that. The right type of player and has loads of premier league experience.

Would be a cracking buy, always liked Artete. Moyes might dig his heals in though. And what's his injury record like? Would like to see him at Le Arse, could complement their play. Does he also take set pieces?

  6. According to L'Equipe we're close to finalising a deal for Mertesacker. Link.

I think we've got a hectic two days ahead of us.

Would be a handy deal, rumors are that up to eight players may join before the deadline. Realistically don't see eight joining but may get a few in, Gotze is brilliant but it won't happen. Mertesaker I could see joining but I don't know is he is quite the player to partner Vermarlen (sp?), he will protect against an aerial bombardments but his lack of pace would have made Sunday's debacle even worse.I would think Wenger would only go for him over someone with PL experience if he was available below £10M, then again a experienced defender is an experienced defender and 75 caps for his country is quite impressive for a 26 year old.

The most likely (aside from Park but he's been mentioned before) looks to be the finalization of the Andre Santos deal. It would worry me that the Brazilian first choice left back is only worth an apparent £7M, then again they also have Kleber and Gilberto in the Brazilian team so that tells you everything about their team selection. Still Arsenal need bodies and a left back certainly would help.

Anyway back to United, I can't talk about Arsenal for too long without invoking horrific vomiting, and this really is just for @Fierce_LiNk it seems that Macheda might be off to Newcastle on a loan deal. Would be much happier seeing him playing than on the bench and he does need PL experience to push him to the next level. We can see how invaluable that is with the examples of Evans/Welbeck/Cleverley. Howevere I don't think Newcastle is the place for him, we know what happens when we send Italians there. Then again that was a different time, Santon is arriving (another Italian) and Obertan and Simpson are there so he might get more playtime there than at Sunderland where he has Gyan, Wickham, that Korean fella and Campbell all competing for those forward positions. He defiantly needs a loan though.

    Edit: Since reading further I have found that I was correct in my assumption that Park Chu-young will have to do military service. The quite from his agent is;

"Could you imagine how a player from Monaco could refuse such a club?

"As he should come back to his native Korea later in 2013 for military duties, this could be his last contract in Europe.

"When Arsene Wenger directly calls a player and asks him to join Arsenal, it is difficult to refuse."

So you will get two years from him.

  7. Liverpool are indeed looking like the real deal. Very impressed with Jose particually, still can't believe Newcastle bought him for £6M, established him as one of the best full backs in the league and then sold him for £7M. I will never understand Mike Ashley. Oh well. Regarding Liverpool id much rather be fighting for the title agaist them than Chelsea, can't stand Chelsea fans. Not that I'm suggesting that Liverpool will be huge title contenders at the end of the season. I still believe it might be a season or two before that happens. However...

I do have a question of Liverpool fans. With Steven sounding like he will be back mid September, how would you fit him into the team? Would you even want to? Is he still cut out to be a top top player? Also, the bench of Liverpool is looking very strong however I do worry about it. You have a £35M man on the bench, as well as this with rumours of Bellamy possibly rejoining would you play him? How? He is known never to be happy being sat on the bench and a unhappy Bellamy in the dressingroom could be quite disruptive.

  8. Seems as though Arsenal might have swiped Park Chu Young from Lille who had agreed terms with the striker, he didn't attend the second part of his medical with the French club and seems to be at the Emirates. Both Lille and his current club Monaco seem baffled by this turn of events.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14692916.stm

This is quite the unexpected development.

Need a CB? Buy a winger from Ligue 2! :yay:

Seriously though, looks be another value buy from Wenger. A decent player, not going to set the league alight and would probably just be back up for RvP as they both play similar roles. Defiantly couldn't be the no. 9 Arsenal would like. Also rumors that he has yet to have completed his mandatory 2 years military service for Korea that all Korean men must do before the age of 30, he's 26 now. Most footballers do have to complete the service and it is only vary rarely that exemptions are given, they are quite strict. If he played at the 2002 world cup then he might have an exemption but I'm too lazy to Google him right now to find out.

Also, here is Fabregas. Getting a taste of what it's like to win his third trophy in what must be just over an hours worth of pitch time.

    Cesc2-650x487.jpg

Alongside Andres Iniesta who, as you can see, seems to have lost his underwear.

Also Cesc seems to have got himself into a little bit of trouble already by wrapping the Catalan independence flag around himself after the game and then claiming he didn't know what it was.

  9. We're close to signing Coates aswell, 20 year-old Uruguayan CB.

City have got a tough group, Bayern are a top side. Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Ribery, Robben, Lahm, Neuer and Gomez are all brilliant players. Bayern are my pick to win the whole thing.

Napoli have brilliant attackers. Cavani, Lavezzi, and Hamsik are all class.

Villarreal are a solid side aswell.

Really don't think it'll be a walk in the park like the press do.

I don't think there as been one press report that has said city have an easy game....

Manchester City eye European glory despite tough Champions League draw

Manchester City handed tough Champions League draw

Champions League: Roberto Mancini's Manchester City handed exciting draw for English clubs

    City handed baptism of fire

Although the Blues avoided a potential 'group of death' scenario, they still face a tricky task to progress against German, Spanish and Italian opposition.

    Also, Bayern?

    Seriously?

Dark horse maybe, but ridiculously early to be calling them potential winners.

  10. So that's the Nasri deal done then, £24M for a player on his last year of contract. I'm sure Wenger didn't want him to go however £24M is a hefty fee and, provided reinvestment, I'm sure he could pick up 2-3 decent players with that money. It's a four year deal with €ity and he will be wearing the number 19 shirt. Here is a little video of him arriving;

Always surprised me Patrick is working at city now, thought he would so some coaching at Arsenal. Oh well. In much better news here is a video of Bursaspor’s new 45,000 seater Timsah Arena.

    timsah-crocodile-stadium-outside2.jpg

It's a friggin' crocodile! Incredible! And under construction now!

(Timsah means crocodile in Turkish, apparently Bursaspor are known as the Green Crocodiles? Why wouldn’t they put a giant kitschy crocodile’s head on their brand new stadium’s roof?)

  11.

Just the video of Fabregas joining, He went on to kiss the badge.

    fabregas_kiss_1972242c.jpg

    Which really shouldn't annoy anyone since he has been wanting to join them for about 3 seasons now. One thing that does make me laugh is;

Imagine the worst situation, that we lose Nasri and Fabregas, you cannot convince people you are ambitious after that.

It is strange in a world where Carol is £35M, Downing £20M that Fabregas ins only a reported £35M. Really should be worth nearer £45M in any market let alone this inflated one we are in. Still Barca have just a unbelievable team now. Actually staggering the amount of quality players they have. Questions over how much game time Thiago will get now, he's been looking promising and I'd love to see someone who can promise him game time and ambitions to put in a bid for around £15M.
