    No chance.

Firstly, each episode of season six of GOT, on average, will cost $10 million to produce.

They could do a Netflix series which is a completely unique story, but otherwise, you're talking a LOT more than $10 million per episode. Call that $100 million to produce the ten episode season, minimum, and then possibly an equal amount just to market it (it's Star Wars - you know they love marketing).

That's $200 million+ for a show they'll probably make less money from per head than they do when compared to ticket prices at the cinema.

The Force Awakens cost $200 million to produce, and I'd much rather they make another movie (aka continue with what they're already doing) then get some crumby ten parter without the heart of Star Wars. Any story they wish to tell could also be done via animated media - look at how well Rebels and The Clone Wars do, commercially and critically.

No, you're right. A Star Wars TV show would never work.

Nah, by the end of the first episodes of most Trek shows I felt like I knew bridge crew better than I know Discovery’s. The shorter seasons are no excuse.

After four years of Enterprise I never really knew Hoshi or Travis so that's not completely true.

I really hope they spend some extra time on the rest of the crew in season 4. It’s all well and good showing them all loving each other but with other Trek shows we would know them all so much better by now. They need to get their own stories.

True, but other Trek shows had double the amount of episodes. If we're comparing to old shows then we've just hit the middle of season 2 - so I think we're making some pretty good mileage with regards to getting to know the crew.

I'd also be very happy if

End of Season 3 and possible season 4 spoilers (Hide contents)

Next season is mostly them visiting a planet, dropping off dilithium, encountering a problem and solving it. A mixture of old and new planets.

Saru I reckon will be given the role of Ambassador and assigned to Discovery (as far as I can tell from how much Doug Jones is filming, he's still a main character), as Discovery becomes a more diplomatic ship.

I'd love to see an episode on Qo'noS, only to discover that Klingon culture has changed dramatically and that they are a Federation member (and didn't abandon it after The Burn, one of the 30-odd who never left), show that they value honour, but it's about being true, fair and hardworking in whatever field rather than stabby kill kill honour. Like the Klingon lawyer said it used to be like in Enterprise.

The Burn managed to be non-malicious and something that's almost impossible to recreate. This means the galaxy can get to healing now they don't have to worry about it happening again.

All of that would be great! They've got so much scope for stories now we're in (almost) completely new territory.

And whilst I'm completely happy for them to take us on whatever journeys they have planned I am curious about:

    Spoiler

THE BORG! Although to be honest I'm always wondering what they're up to. Would love to see them in Picard too and if they show up anywhere I reckon it'll be there as Seven and Picard both have unresolved Borg issues and what better way to face them than head on?

I can see Saru becoming an ambassador. I think he'll be more comfortable in a less stressful role. He wasn't a bad captain, but I don't think he trusted himself enough. Was lovely seeing Doug's face - he has such a kind face!

  5. I loved this season. Definitely my favourite season of Discovery so far - I much preferred the slower pacing.

My thoughts on the cause of the burn?

    Spoiler

I found it extremely relatable as my mum passed away on November 5th. I think they perfectly summed up how it feels to lose your mother.

  6. If I recall next weeks episode is 82 minutes and yeah, after the whole episode dedicated to The Battle of The Bastards - I'd fully expect the whole thing to be a battle. I think a movie length battle will be a satisfying enough end to a seven-season build up. Well, that's it's good which I have no doubt it will be. :D

    Regarding this week's episode:

    Spoiler

I properly welled up when Brienne got knighted - and I am glad she did too. She's been a really lovely, bloody cool well rounded character.

Have followed you now @Ganepark32 and shared my game scene and puppet in progress, look forward to seeing your creations. Have also followed @somme nice work so far!

Cheers. :D I've bought the Early Access but won't be playing for a while, too busy atm. Just bought it as there were rumblings of limited numbers!

  8. It's not so much the mopey old git he turned out to be - that's perfectly reasonable considering how much of a whiny teenager he was. It's more that there wasn't enough time devoted to him being conflicted about murdering his nephew. Remembering the lengths he went through trying to turn his father back to the light side, I just didn't buy there was no other way than to murder Leia's son while he slept.

Mainly my issue is, that after forty years, that was the best story involving Luke they could come up with.

Nightflyers was one I was interested in, but the first episode is disappointing. It's pretty bad. It looks like they just stuffed in one scifi / horror cliché after another. I'll continue watching for now, to see if it improves, but I suspect it's not a show worth your time.

I watched it until the end. I wished I hadn't. If It'd known SyFy had made it I wouldn't have started. Stop. Stop now. For your own good!

Is your move to Canada based on Brexit or other external factors?

It's hard to say for sure as I have always wanted to migrate back out of the UK (lived in Australia for a while back in the 00s) but Brexit is certainly what drove me to actually start the process. I see a long recession and bitterly divided future for the UK. I'd rather not suffer that if I don't have to.

  11. My hype regarding anything Star Wars has dwindled to nothing. I still cannot fathom why people think TLJ brings anything "new" or "refreshing" to the franchise. It was the Battle/Escape of Hoth drawn out into a whole film, littered with awkward humour and cheap twists. It felt like a bottle-episode of a tv show.
