Falcon_BlizZACK Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Just to clarify I don't know anything about the two, but which do you consider to be the superior music maker? Since my sister got me both software from the States. I just want one that would allow me to plug in my instruments and just jam.
or else you will DIE Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I personally much prefer Logic. Mainly because that's what I use, and Reason has sooooo much on it, it can be totally over whelming. Logic is cake to learn and use. I say Logic. By the way, you have a mac right? Logic only runs on macs.
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 Ya, I have a Mac Mini. In terms of content, would you say both are similar? Or one has a bit more than the other?
chhang7 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I just started working as a sound engineer and to tell you the truth more studios use logic for recording music and midi stuff, but they also use reason as a vst plug-in for processing and effects. just use logic u can do way way more on it than u can even imagine. Just remember logic only works on macs and u need an audio interface for all your instruments and mics
Twozzok Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Reason is totally contained, meaning you can't load VST's in it, it's main purpose is more for live environments then actual music creating. Saying that though, it all depends on what kind of music you'll be creating... if you're recording go for Logic or Protools, but if you're making electronic I'd say Fruity Loops as software for beginners. EDIT: Oops, misread your post. Use Logic and load Reason as a vst if needed (using ReWire), if you're just gonna plug an instrument in use Logic and don't bother with reason.
or else you will DIE Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 You can't use FruityLoops on macs unless you got bootcamp or something. He says he wants to plug in and play instruments too, so Logic is no doubt the best for that.

Do you need logic Studio or just Express. If your not doing it professionally you may want to think about just getting express.
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Ahhh...Thanks for the advice. Went in to the Apple Store this evening for a little demo....Logic is sweet, man. It is so simple. It seems my 2.0ghz is a bit slow for running some of Reasons tracks anyway. :/
