Strider Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Hello. This might be a bit of a daft question, but i would just like to make sure. I will be getting a PS3 for Christmas and seeing as my wii takes up the component slot i was thinking of running the PS3 though the DVI-HDCP slot. My monitors DVI slot is DVI-D 24 pin, so would i need to buy a HDMI-DVI cable/adapter with a DVI-D 24 pin or am i safe with otherones? Whats the difference between DVI-D and DVI? Am i able to use a 18 pin in a 24 pin socket? Also about audio. The only imput which i think will work with the DVI is a 3.5mm jack on the monitor. Would i be able to use the composite left and right audio of the PS3 through an adapter to 3.5mm jack? Cheers for any help.
Guest Jordan Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Well, DVI is essentially the video part of HDMI without any protection on it. So what you'de need to do, is a get HDMI to DVI convertor, which should include a standard audio jack too. Look around on maplin.co.uk you'll find something.
