Tito Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 It seems that our industry is obsessed with "first week sales" and "top 10". As soon as a titles drops off the chart, it's like it ceases to exist altogether, and sometimes they become huge hits, like R.E 4, that just hit the 1 million mark. But I have trouble finding up to date info on games sales, other than the top 10 charts that are weekly released in Japan, and the monthly NPD charts in the U.S. Sometimes I find something, often I do not. For example, I was just looking for up to date sales of Dragon Quest Swords in Japan, and worldwide sales of Prime 3: Corruption, but my Google searches mostly bring back their first week charts! Does anybody know a good site to find this kind of info? Thanks!
Emasher Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Try changing the keywords in your google searches.
Tito Posted November 4, 2007 Author Posted November 4, 2007 I tried, still no luck, probably I'm not searching for the right keywords. What keywords do you suggest?
jammy2211 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 http://www.vgchartz.org It's the best site for sales estimations. They're not going to be 100% correct but it's the best source you're going to find without paying the NPD $1000's to get the data. They correct all their data with official NPD sales when it's released and don't hide the fact they're not 100% correct. But yeah, best you're gonna find.
Tito Posted November 4, 2007 Author Posted November 4, 2007 Thank you. Looks like an interesting site. I'm not an analyst, so I don't need 100% correct data, I am happy enough with estimates. Thanks again!
Zechs Merquise Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Wikipedia is a great place for long term sales and info on the best selling games etc.
