Q. After my Nintendo Switch Online subscription expires, will my Save Data Cloud files and Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online save data be erased?
A. Save data stored with Save Data Cloud cannot be kept outside of the duration of your Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online also uses the Save Data Cloud, so the same applies. However, if you keep the Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online save data saved locally on your Nintendo Switch console, then you can use it again if you purchase another membership.Shitty move Nintendo

The third party situation hasnt really improved. Just a real lack of third party titles.

I can't quite recall - Wasn't there a lot we didn't know about Breath of The Wild back then? This took the piss naming every character and then going through (nearly?) all of them just to say "we've tweaked them a little"
Exactly. Just padded the video as they had nothing else to show.

That's literally what they did with Breath of the Wild and no-one complained then.
I would of thought this year they would have more to show. Its a year on since the platform released and woukd expect more development than last year.

Far too much Smash Bros. They could have had a smash Bros direct for that at another time. E3 not the place to dedicate so much time to one game.

Very underwhelming

This is something Nintendo really needs to address and comment on, if it is indeed what they plan on doing. As it stands, the message is getting mixed and reactions are pretty negative.
It's been pretty sloppy how this has been handled. Nintendo knows their user base is interested in their classic games, so why not just be upfront about it instead of dropping bits and bobs of information. All they need to say is either yes or no as to whether their legacy console games will arrive on the Switch. It baffles me that Nintendo have created this perfect handheld device but aren't letting it live up to its potential in terms of their back catalogue, at least at the moment.
I think a lot of anger and disappointment could have been avoided if they went with Gamecube or even N64 titles. Starting from scratch again with NES stuff is just asking for trouble. N64 games are well known for their multiplayer component and having these games online for the launch of the service would have been a home run.
This.
Why do we always have to start with nes. There isn't some set rule which says must start at the beginning of nintendo games.

Because they're adding them on their online subscription service.
Other people do?
It takes time to convert and test the games too, don't forget that. I have no doubt we'll be seeing the other consoles added as time passes
This is what we've been asking for, a Netflix style subscription to play classic games (with added features) and now we've got it, we're still complaining because they're not dumping everything in one go with no care for quality control.
We have every right to complain if their is a lack of content. 18 months since launch and come up with some nes games. It's poor.
Should I just assume snes, N64, Gamecube games will come? Why would I do that.
This company has a snes mini and will probably release an N64 mini so can't see any rush to get titles on switch.
The only people winning are the homebrew community.

“There are currently no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has been done on other Nintendo systems,” a Nintendo spokesperson told Kotaku in an e-mail late last night.

Why NES games? Just skip the nes.
No interest at all in classic nes games

Rip virtual console

Very very clever

The attach rates are crazy. Mario still as popular as ever.

Just connecting the dots, if they're confident of selling 20 million Switches in 12 months they'll need at least one huge hitter, quite likely Pokemon.
The console should see growth. The 2nd year of any successful platform will almost always outstrip year 1. Wii U even did better in its second year.
If they are on course to do 15 mil year 1 I can see why year two they have forecasted 20 mil.

Fully deserved Game of the Year. The game is a masterpiece.
Recently started Horizon and its a dope game but I do miss being able to go wherever I please and to explore wherever I want.
Playing Horizon emphasizes to me just how much of a different open world game BotW is.

The Switch will get western support. Some games just won't run but there will be enough that can.
The hardware is selling and more importantly software is selling. Developers won't ignore that. Publishers can't just leave money on the table.
The demographics are different with the switch.
- 86% of the Switch’s install base is 18 or older.
- 69% of the Switch install base falls within the 19-34 age group.
- 90% of the Switch install base is male
That's the demographic with buying power and the demographic which appeals to third party publishers.
Now those numbers will change especially after holiday season as switch will be gifted to teenagers and kids but still the numbers will be similar to the xbox/ps4 demographic.
Games take time to be produced but I'm expecting 2018 to see western third parties announce plenty of games.

Includes all of the SF2, SF3 and SFA series. SFII: Hyper Fighting, SSFII: Turbo, SF Alpha 3 and SFIII: Third Strike all have online play.
Switch passed the test. This is a great package. Nintendo need to release some Dpad joycons though!!!
Capcom releasing SF2 on switch @ full price then releasing this is a dick move.

Bought it for my son. Played a couple of levels and man I thought it was terrible. The controls are a joke, never felt like I was fully in control of the character.

Well that's insane! Guess that means they're coming to Switch as well at some point, given that the Switch is literally an enhanced Nvidia Shield internally.
Lol. Only Nintendo would ignore everyone calling the GC VC and then announce those games are going to a non Nintendo platform.

From Digital Foundry :
Undocked:
- Dynamic resolution, very low, down to 368p at its lowest and up to 552p;
- Worst image quality in a Switch game in portable mode; That's unacceptable. 368p is ridiculous. Wasn't sure about this game but the handheld performance really keeps me from getting this.
Can't believe they couldn't do stable 540p minimum.
