  1. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

I always thought the story in POR ended somewhat... abruptly. Maybe it was because the final boss fight was a bit on the easy side. The story was building up to a great climax, Ashnard unlocking some hidden powers or something. Then you defeated him and everything was fine and peaceful again. Quite an anti-climax to me. That's where Radiant Dawn comes in. It continues the story. POR had many supporting characters that weren't really touched upon, like the "lion king" (forgot his name), the dragon tribe and of course the Beignon Commander that took over Daein. From the very beginning the storyline acted as one overarching story. Characters were created for use in the sequel. That's what I like about this game. So those reviewers that say the story element is weak or subpar, I doubt they understand the whole picture. Sure, the story may not be original, I mean, every Fire Emblem title follows a recognizable path. But hey, don't about every other game out there does that? I really hope this game will show up early in 2008. Im not expecting January, but February would be a great month to release this. If March 18 is true, then so be it :P
  2. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Because of this, I think many people are hoping to see a remake of this title on Wii. Let's be realistic here, RE5 on Wii probably won't happen. I do believe we'll see another RE title down the road, as RE4 has shown incredible legs in the US and RE:UC doing decent numbers. An entirely new game would take too much time for Capcom, but they do have the RE4 engine up and running. RE2 hasn't been updated yet, new Wii owners are already introduced to Leon and Ada, the character models are essentially already in place... It's just so natural. Hopefully we'll see it happen. At least make the N64 edition available in the VC shop. I've always wanted to play it, but it was way too expensive back then. Playing RE:UC really re-invigorated my interest in the RE storyline. Well actually RE4 did that already :P
  3. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Reached the final boss yesterday on Normal. Man, that was a tough one. I didnt saved up enough ammo, so basically I was shooting with the handgun mostly in the 2nd part. I still wanted to see the end of the chapter so switched to Easy and see if I could make it. I like how this game is becoming more challenging after each chapter. The Wesker one's can be a tough one. As for the scoring, my main problem are usually the critical hits, though finding the hidden items in the later levels are kinda hard. Is it true that you need a handgun to get your criticals? Cos I dont see the blue flashing light with other guns, while I do hear the same sound effect.
  4. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

I think you're indeed supposed to play this game with a separated nunchuk. I believe the Wii Zapper manual even shows two ways to play. But yeah, i see where you're coming from. It is kinda useless, apart from having a 'proper' gun in your hands. I've finished the Raccoon city part. That definitely was my favorite part! The end of level bosses were giving me quite some problem. The best parts are the amount of (tough) enemies and the flashlight parts. Loved it! I also replayed the first section of Raccoon city, because I had a horrible rating © and i played as Carlos, while previously as Jill. I was making critical after critical, very satisfying! I wonder if I had improved, was just lucky or that Carlos is the better shooter. Still, having 26 criticals at the end earned me nothing better but a C -_-'
  5. I never really liked DA controls. I found the controls in N64 shooters much better. Playing TimeSplitters on the Cube wasn't quite the same. It was passable, but I never got the accuracy. I actually like the Nunchuk/Wiimote combo. You can separate your arms and actually lean on the coach or knees, depending on the way you sit. I've yet to play a well-implemented FPS title for controls (havent gotten my hands on MP3 or MOHH2 yet), but Red Steel wasn't that bad actually. Sure the turning was slow, but the shooting was accurate. As for other games, neh, don't miss the 2nd analog. Occassionally I do miss an extra button in games, but that wouldnt be comfy.
  6. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Played through RE0 and RE1 part in Co-op too today. Damn, that was easy! Haha. The RE3 part is my favorite part so far. It really grows on you and the zombies are getting tougher each time. It sure isnt the same as playing through RE4 with a friend, it goes way too quick for that. Still lots of fun though. Hopefully there's enough content in here. As it seems, you can rush through it pretty quickly. It's long for an on-rail shooter, but short for a RE game.
  7. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Finally got the game in today. Enjoying it a lot. Worked through the RE0 scenarios. Those boss fights are the best. The game is actually quite a challenge at times (Ive started on Normal), both on difficulty and ammo conservation. Quite like a true RE game actually. The tricky bit is finding the secrets and picking them up before the camera swoosh away. Having played through the original RE0 and the first part of REmake, it's kinda odd how the storyline plays through. It skips on some things and certain parts are rewritten, obviously to fit the 2P game. I especially like the extra scenarios that are filling the holes in this game's main story. Overall, like it a lot and cant wait for the first 2P session!
  8. Endless Ocean

Since my copy of REUC still hasnt arrived yet, Im giving more and more time to Endless Ocean. I've spent quite a bit more time to it and it amazes me how much stuff there is hidden in this game. Well, at least i wasnt expecting so much stuff. I really love the camera and taking photographs, especially since you can only see them once you're back on board again. I shot some seriously bad stuff :P I seem to discover more stuff and species every time i revisit places. For some it can get really boring, but to me, I like to explore the area, diving around in first person view. Quite addictive actually. Just yesterday, I wanted to have a quick dive, turned out I was diving for 20 mins. And that was in an area without much to see anyway.
  9. Parodius

IMO Parodius kicks Gradius' ass anytime. While I do love the Gradius serie, Parodius is just so much more fun. It's wacky, it's diverse. The Octopus makes a fart when Speeding up, how crazy can it get? I played the NES version to death, but it's the 2nd and 3rd iteration that Parodius got at its best. Who can remember the "paperplane man" shooting sperm as bullets and having a condom as shield? Hilarious! Shame about the slowdown though. I'd love to see the serie return. I did had a PSP collection last year and there's a touchscreen semi-sequel in the arcades in Japan (either released or in the making). Who knows, maybe it'll head to Wii, WiiWare or DS some time...
  10. Now don't get excited yet. I bet we won't hear anything about it till next year, but here's the thing: I saw several job listings on Next-Gen. Apparently Rainbow Studios is working on a exclusive original IP for Wii. The good thing is that this game is no party or casual title. It's an action thriller. Sounds good so far. Here's an excerpt and the link: Rainbow Studios is searching for a qualified Senior Environment Artist for our Wii exclusive original intellectual property Action Thriller. http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8149&Itemid=58 Im not too excited about their trackrecord though. It's a THQ studio, so they did the Disney/Pixar titles, as well as the ATV games. While the latter are supposedly good games, it's not really my type of games. We'll have to wait and see. Happy to see another developer trying a non-party, non-casual type of game.
  11. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Damn, you people sure are lucky to be playing this game already. I hope mine is shipped and arriving today. They better be! Otherwise I might have just gone out and bought it. I like the sound of a challenging experience. It may not be a true lightgun experience, but I think Ghost Squad is filling that gap for me. Like some site mentioned, GH and RE:UC are quite the opposite of each other and a great combo together. One is traditional, short and pure action. The other is long, story-driven and just quite different to other games in the genre.
  12. Ghost Squad Wii

damn, i was shocked to see the release date being pushed back. It was really on top of my list along with RE:UC and SMG. Europe is getting a delay after delay. First SSBB, Z&W, now Ghost Squad. There's not much left, huh? To me personally, I still have enough to get and play. I mean, RE:UC has yet to arrive. Still gotta buy SMG, MP3 and SPM. I guess I'll have more time to explore titles like MOHH2 and Mario & Sonic. January is shaping up to be quite a nice month though.
  13. No More Heroes

True, I had to get used to it at first. Actually, I think that system is pretty good, especially since it's a weekly magazine, so most likely, they've been covering the game for several weeks, if not months. All the details are known to the readers, why repeat it?
  14. Endless Ocean

Hehe, i see where you're coming from. It definitely isnt something for everyone. Hope you can still trade it in
  15. Endless Ocean

I finally got this game in yesterday. Enjoyed the first 30 mins I had with the game. Its pace is so different. Especially since I'm playing this along with a new round of RE4. No shooting, no explosion, but so beautiful and relaxed. I found myself just swimming around to see what there is to explore. Definitely like it and for its price, it's a must-buy for those that want something a little different.
  16. Fragile Dreams

I like the looks of it. The screens look a bit PS2-like, but the style and the moods are great. Sounds promising!
  17. House of the Dead 2/3 Return

Awesome if true. We're getting a renaissance of lightgun/arcade style shooters! Of course, HotD is one of the classics in the genre. Great to see it coming to Wii. I doubt they'll update the graphics. I'd love to see them do it and pay a 'regular' price for it. If not, it gotta be a budget price. I believe Konami is also working on an arcade shooter. Might be a port as well. Now, if Namco would release Time Crisis on Wii...
  18. Fragile Dreams

Im liking the title and the artwork. It sets the mood right. It seems like a different RPG. Seems like it's set in a modern world. It supposed to be a dungeon crawler though. We'll have to wait and see. Apparently there'll be a press conference at the end of the month to show off the game.
  19. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Well, that more or less has surpassed RE4's sales in Japan. Didn't Galaxy open with about 100K in Japan on day 1 as well? We might see it sell 200-250 first week. That's pretty decent I suppose.
  20. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

I believe it's only Japan that's getting the Zapper bundles. They already have a Ghost Squad bundle and there's one for RE:UC too. As for Europe and US? We get the shaft. Again!
  21. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Yeah the shaky reticule bothers me too. From what I've seen in footage so far, it moves all around the place. Still, I think this game is gonna rock. I have only played RE0, REmake and RE4, but I do know what generally happened in RE2 and 3. Im really looking forward playing this title, esp. in 2P. According to the IGN review, there's quite some replay-value in here. It certainly is a lot longer than I expected. This title may not be AAA status, but to me, this game is my most-wanted title this year. Topping even *gasp* Galaxy From what I've seen so far, I think it's a 'solid 8' title.
  22. My Wii wish list

I would like to add a Castlevania game to this list. Likelihood: 40% Koji Igarashi, ie producer of Castlevania mentioned on several occasions what he thinks of a possible Castlevania on Wii. He's thinking about it, yet he doesnt know what it would be like. Apparently he's thinking about a 360/PS3 version for the next 3D entry in the series. As for another Resident Evil title? Quite likely. RE4 exceeded everyone's expectations, RE:UC seems to be a hit title as well. So there's definitely the audience for it. Will we see a RE5? Probably not, unless it's seriously scaled down and lots of things removed. Would we want that? Eh, no thanks. RE2 remake? Could very well happen. RE:UC doesn't cover much about RE2, apart from Ada part. Leon and Claire don't seem to be in there. So the main RE2 story isn't told in UC. I'd say it's quite likely. Capcom doesnt have time to think up a brand new RE title, which could hurt RE5 sales. So they'd either go for a remake or some kind of side-story. To me, an RE2 title with RE4 setup would be awesome. I've never played RE2 anyway. Im all up for it.
  23. Endless Ocean

This game sounds so awesome. I've got it ordered last week, still hasn't been dispatched yet! I guess the game is so much more than it seems. Can't wait to play it
  24. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Ghost Squad is apparently very short if you view it as Start -> End. But doesn't that go for most of the on-rails shooters out there? I believe there are three missions in GQ, but there are multiple routes to take, which you can only get access to if played multiple times. Besides, there are tons of unlockables including modes like Paradise, Ninja, Panda, Virtua Cop. Some have different gameplay nuances, some are pure cosmetic. So there's definitely a lot of replay value in it. It's not a full price game either, which definitely makes it more recommendable. The icing on the cake is the 4P multiplayer mode, it'll be a great title to play on parties! Personally, I'm excited for both. So i'll probably get them both on the same day. Oh joy!
  25. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Apparently Nov. 30. It's going to be published by Nintendo I believe, which should be a little bit cheaper than most games. Well, here's hoping
