The eShop update was unexpected and much appreciated. It really needed those categories present at all times. One minor gripe though, the eShop doesn't save your filter settings for the bottom 4 categories (it always defaults to Most Popular) and the eShop STILL isn't fully controllable with d-pad and buttons only (it's a bit clunky to have to switch between touch and buttons if you can't be bothered to get the stylus out) Also, glad to see they took my advice and have finally moved the search option to the top of the screen. It's really funny going to other sites and seeing people discovering the search option for the first time The web browser also got a slight update too (from version 1.7455 to version 1.7498) Seems a bit faster when loading 3D pictures, but I cant see anything else different. While it's nice having folders at last, am I the only one who feels that their Home screen is a bit empty now? I kinda miss the hustle and bustle of that messy Home screen Also, it's a bit of a shame that you can't change the folder colour or make your own icon for it; feels a bit too functional and not very Nintendo like. Oh well, I guess they've gotta save something for future updates!

The web store/smartphone app wouldn't need to necessarily come as part of a 3DS update; after all, the whole point is that it's separate from the 3DS!

That crash happened to me quite a bit. Really surprised that Nintendo let that one slip through!

Did anyone get a Fire Emblem puzzle piece? Or did we all just get a Mario Tennis one?

They've avoided de-valuing the VC releases with their past anniversary offerings (SMAll Stars coudn't be released on the VC without devaluing the NES versions and NOA's request for a Zelda anniversary ROM collection disc was turned down by NCL, who didn't want to ruin the value of the original VC versions), so it'll be interesting to see if these are indeed just ROM dumps or if they have done something to differentiate these versions from their originals. Besides, with them releasing 3D Classics Kirby's Adventure on the JPN eShop, I doubt they'd want to devalue it right away by releasing a ROM collection. If it does turn out to be a ROM collection, I'll pass. I already own all of the Kirby games on VC (and the remaining ones on cartridge)

OH YOU BUNCH OF CUNTS!!!!! I'VE ALREADY IMPORTED THE US VERSION!!! Bastards! The US soundtrack is perfect (I actually prefer it to the JPN version) but I don't think I can resist double dipping anyway. It's Luigi's Mansion/Metroid Prime all over again.

If it includes every Pokemon, then I think it's safe to say that Gen 6 will be using these 3D models. They'd be crazy not to!

I prefer Y & B, but I have no real issues with B & A. The issue is really overblown, the space between the buttons on the DS/DSi/3DS is so small that it doesn't really matter either way. It's nothing like playing Super Mario World with a GCN controller (now THAT is a fucking nightmare!)

I wonder if there will be an option to play without the patch. Would be a shame to have the original version of the game (with the glitch enabled) lost forever. It's good that they're fixing it, but then I look back on the kinds of glitches you saw in Mario Kart 64 (Wario Stadium, Rainbow Road) and it got me thinking that today's Nintendo would've patched those shortcuts out of the game. It would've been sad to see those go, they make MK64 much more fun!

Colour me enormously disappointed, it looks nearly identical to the DS game (not even the Wii one) I love the DS and Wii games and I don't mind the art style, but this looks to be doing nothing new so far. Granted, all we have are a few screenshots but this looks to be entirely derivative so far. NSMB DS was the glorious return of 2D Mario (with new items and mechanics, married with the new jumping moves you got in Mario 64), while NSMB Wii was the impossible (a 4 player Mario game that was as fun in co-op as in single player), made possible by a revelation in level design and the Super Guide & Bubble mechanics (throw in new items and level mechanics for good measure, plus that godly shake move!) What's this game's hook?! A rehash of the raccoon leaf?! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, but this reveal doesn't give off a good first impression. The first trailer of this game better blow me away, I want to see something groundbreaking and creative in order to make it worthy of the New moniker! I want NSMB 2, Not NSMB The Lost Levels!

Well I guess we can knock off one of those possible Wii trailers, now that it has already been released on the official site (Project Zero 2) That means that either this EU Nintendo Direct video will be featuring only one Wii trailer (Beat the Beat Rhythm Paradise), or there are some Wii surprises coming our way!

I feel a strange urge to play Banjo Kazooie now...

(considering that they don't usually make any Pokemon related announcements at E3) If they're keeping the DS alive for a little longer, please let Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem come along with Pokemon!

Nicked this from GAF Japanese event is at 4 AM for me, Nice. I can wake up to the JPN event video and then watch the EU one right afterwards I would've thought that likely too, but they did specifically mention that this event is about "new info, trailers and other news about the latest games - as well as titles coming up on the horizon - for Nintendo 3DS and Wii" (no mention of DS), so I'm not expecting any DS/DSi announcements here myself.

Ahh, good point! I forgot about that. Unless they're saving it for E3 (like they did with Last Specter) now would be a good time to announce its release date.

They did that last time too (that's actually where we heard about Project Zero 2 and Spirit Camera coming to EU - for some bizzare reason, it wasn't mentioned in the video)

Interesting to see that NOE is getting their own separate version this time. EU specific announcements? Localisation details? (MONSTER HUNTER 3G!?) ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN!!!11! Well, each Nintendo Direct has always had some new announcements, be it new games or release dates, so I'd expect something new here. A Fire Emblem EU release date (and possibly release dates for Luigi's Mansion 2, Animal Crossing 3DS and Paper Mario) isn't too unlikely. Excellent news! Ghostlight are the best thing that has happened to the UK publishing industry for years! Will buy both!
