  1. In the beginning, I was keen to do all the quests as soon as they came up but some 70 hours later, I'm finding them all a bit repetitive now so I'm not really going out of my way anymore to finish them.

This brings up an interesting point. Has anyone contributing to the thread actually finished the game yet? From the sounds of things most of us are still playing it. Bodes well for me - I am only up to the Satorl Marshes.

How many hours did it take and what is your estimate of side quest completion (percentage)?

  2. Are you stopping under the shadow on the runway? That's where you need to end up for accuracy.

I've got all red border stars on the first class, but getting them for the entire game is going to be a different story. ;)

    2 hours my arse.

What do you have to do to get them?

I think I have 100% for some of the first few levels - do you have to just do it quicker?

  3. Sent mine too! : peace:

When you track your order does it give you any details?

Mine takes me to the tracking website (TNT) but it says 'Please Call' under the status box.

Hhhmm. Wonder if these guys are holding it until release too.

I'm off work tomorrow and friday though so anytime is good with me! So long as if its gonna be friday its early friday!!

Yes mine says that as well. Probably does not mean anything - just a kind of holding status while the delivery kicks into gear.

Anyone with any shopto experience? I am a first timer.

  4. I have a Dell laptop and so does my Dad.

Both have been very reliable (Inspiron 6000) and have a good quality screen.

Both about 3-4 years old now.

As Ike says though the support is awful. The line is always much too quiet and the accents extreme - they clearly don't do the talking to American/English training courses.

Also the parts are VERY expensive:

    Battery: 120 quid

    Ac adaptor: 60 quid

I also had to replace the keyboard. Now Dell don't actually sell this (or keys which was all I needed) and so you have to go to a spares authorised dealer. 90 quid!

So in short I doubt I will get another......

  5. Ten10's link recommends Malwarebytes anti Malware program.

I have also used that to remove a similar virus from our home computer and it works a treat.

The problem is that the virus overwrites part of the registry that loads things like the security centre and task manager - so after I was uninfected I spent some time try to get those all back.

  6. Heh, thanks. I guess I had been quite narrowly focused on Samsung tech at the moment.

I cannot actually buy until November anyway.

It is just annoying not knowing for certain what will be around and what the prices will be. :-(

At least they are not having the stupid Windows 7 on netbooks can only run three programs at once thing anymore.

  7. The recently 'updated' 8GB model is identical to last year's model.

The 16 and 32GB models have had a processor and therefore speed update bringing them in line with the 3GS.

That, and the price cuts, are the only differences. Oh and obviously the 3.1 software comes as standard.

Yes - also don't be tempted by a generation 1 ipod touch like mine.

You lose out on bluetooth connectivity and the potential for headphones with controls and a Mic.

  8. Some of the streamlined EEE's have Linux and solid state drives for starters.

They do have that you are right.

I was under the impression that the Linux was effectively 'Linux Lite' (in some ways) anyway. I must admit I had discounted that because if you are going to get Linux you might as well get the full version and no iTunes support.

The best way to choose between them is simply to go in to a store and try them out, most of the differences are cosmetic or down to the screen (resolution, size and matte/gloss) or battery.

It's a bad time to buy any of them though, Windows 7 is due out next month and there's a load of new hardware launching on the run up to Christmas.

Windows 7 is out next month but I have not heard even the faintest hint that Samsung are going to re-release with it, or even any definite plans for future netbooks beyond the N510.

What new hardware is due for release that you have heard of?

  9. Err...not really. o_O

Not trying to start a flame war - I just meant the fundamentals. N270 Atom processor 1 GB of ram and a 160GB hard drive with Windows XP home.

Lots have 10.1 inch screens as well.

The only real difference seems to be in the other details - quality of screen, keyboard, size of battery - those kinds of things.

  10. Hmm, that's odd. So the Wii version is as faithful a port as can be expected! I wonder if Dave's supercomp runs it better.

Yes probably - the mouse thing was weird though. I mean, it happens on the menu screen!

In terms of the actual reviews, they're never worth reading, but the scores are usually spot on.

Also it means the game will not be universally acclaimed like brawl, for example. That is the level game I was hoping for.

    Perhaps naively. :heh:

  11. Samsung is the only netbook anyone would ever buy when looking for reccomendations from this forum :heh: it has, like a virus, moved from one person to another, monopolising the NE netbook market until nobody would ever consider getting anything else, because everyone would say Samsung.

Not complaining or anything, I'm sure Samsungs are great, but don't get bottlenecked into thinking they're the only option just because everyone here has one.

Anyone got any other netbook experience to share then?

All the same really aren't they?

  12. Nintendo Power has scored some of the Q4 games in this months issue. I very happy with A Boy and his Blob score, looks like its the real deal. Heres a few of the scores.

    Spyborgs - 7.5

Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (Wii) - 7

    TMNT - Smash Up! - 7.5

    Dead Space Extraction - 8

    A Boy And His Blob - 8.5

    Ju-on - 6

Wow, that is quite depressing. I had high hopes for smash up (three rabbids or not) and even Spyborgs.

Dead Space is not a surprise - has a light gun game ever broken the 8/10 barrier.

  13. I saw some pictures of the N150, then thought why they'd done that. A netbook is for portability and doing very simple stuff on. Unless they're trying to create a new market in between for the people who want extreme portability and good graphics?

So you're looking at the N140 being the best of the bunch with it's 9 cell battery?

I think HD video is the thing that it needs the graphics chip for - I would guess they re targeting this at Youtube HD which has been said to stutter on the N270 based netbooks (and even slightly on the NC20). Also the wide screen display is nice.

Windows 7 was also supposed to be a differentiator - they will get it in the states or so says the rumour, but not in this country.

The battery on the N140 does sound good mind you. I doubt it will be 9 hours with bluetooth and wifi but that should mean at least 5-6 which is brilliant.

  14. But then how would I do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs?

Anyone else waiting for Tales of Monkey Island Part II - Siege of Spinner Cay? PC heads have had it for a while now. It seems a little odd to force us Wii-owners to wait for longer, pay more and suffer an inferior version with jerkiness and lack of audio clarity.

Nope, but I just got the PC version of chapter one for free. I can tell you it is also jerky and lacking in audio clarity on my laptop.

The mouse seems to take half an hour to catch up with me. Is this normal?

Would have liked it better for free on the Wii.......

  15. Hey guys, instead of making my own thread I thought I'd ask here.

I now understand why netbooks are good after thinking about it so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference was between the Samsung NC10, the N110 and the N120?

I'm looking on the samsung website and see no difference between the 3 of them.

I think that the N110 and N120 are basically not-much-has-changed updates to the NC-10, with most of the differences being screen and battery as previously suggested. (NC10 has only a 3 cell battery whereas these have 6 cell batteries).

However, this month they released the N130 and N140 which are the latest models again. The N130 is pretty much the NC10 again but the N140 has a 9 cell battery with quoted life of 9 hours. I think both also have the n (almost-)standard for Wifi.

There is also the N510 which is out soon (some retailers claim to have them now - dabs says 5th Oct) which has an accelerated graphics card and HDMI out for watching HD you tube. It also has an 11.6 inch wide screen display as well as the n standard. It has a 6 cell battery. Of course all of these extras cost more monies. :heh:

I am thinking about the N510 but with Windows 7 coming out it seems as if it might be worth leaving it at the moment. Samsung seem to be releasing about 3 laptops a month at the moment.
