  1. Anything cool/of note worth getting when my wii u arrives tomorrow?

My favourite WiiU eShop game is Nano Assault Neo, if you like twin stick shooters this is a must. Also download the free starter pack of Tank Tank Tank, a good laugh in Japanese B-Movie Monster genre territory.

  2. A short session today, where I managed to pick up a few supplies by backtracking through lots of areas quickly. Also managed to get my 4th letter. And, thankfully still on my 6th survivor.

Should be able to go to the nursery tomorrow, any weapon in particular good for that section?

  3. I never turn the 3D off, it a must for me and whacked up at full at all times. It's now come to a point where if there is no 3D on, the game feels strange and I can't play it, especially things like KI, MK7, SM3DL, RE:R and Pilotwings. I hope it's included in every Nintendo handheld in the future.

  4. Is it because the game is so big in GB terms that it couldn't fit on the Wii U's internal memory? I mean I have about 25GB of space still on mine and the discs on the WiiU only hold about that much. They must be worried about Basic Console package owners.

  5. I've had about 70 hours out of it, too. AND it's still going strong, but that's due to the little one and his cousins, who frequent my place as often as they can. If you've got a few children to play along this becomes a huge time consumer and well worth the price. Playing single player enticed me up to about 3 weeks ago, when I decided I had better sit down and finish ZombiU and Batman before MH comes. I'm sure I'll pick it up in single player again, but having Gold Starred everything it's now relegated to a multiplayer only affair.

  6. Still on my 6th survivor, and finally made it through the Tower of London section. Quite a thrill ride it seemed, just don't let that woman rush you into making stupid mistakes, take your time, etc.

Quite happy that I found the crossbow, 770 Carbine Rifle, and the AK47 all in one session, my weapon collection is growing nicely.

Saw absolutely no notifications, but came across 2 friend zombies, both are now laid to rest.

  7. Just downloaded this game. It is a GEM.

Lovely arcade shooter. Only played on Single Player so far.... what the difference with Arcade mode?

Can't believe I waited so long to download it. Was waiting to see if it would get a sale but today said "frak it" and paid full price anyway. And it is worth every penny!

Thinking I'll get the 3DS version a bit down the line too now. Bet the Cells look awesome in 3D :D

But wondering how do you control the shooting on the 3DS without a CPP?

Also bloody amazed at the file size, well done Shin'en on that! And the game doesn't appear comprimised at all either.

Looks awesome, no slow down and gets bloody hectic :D

Only played Epsilon and Zeta so far and a bit of the 3rd level (can't remember name) but died on the first stage :p

Took a while to finish Zeta, kept dying on the 3rd stage. Finally beat it and got ranked 385th in world, not bad :D

And 3rd amongst my Friends list. @madeinbeats and @RedShell I am coming for yer scores!

Oh and the bonus rounds are awesome... reminds me of Sonic and Earthworm Jim bonus stages :D so far best I managed was 43 seconds :p

It is a GEM. Arcade mode is about playing only one level for high scores. The 3D cells on the 3DS version do look nice in 3D, but after the lovely HD visuals on the WiiU, it is a little bit of a comedown. I believe the shooting is controlled, on the 3DS without the CPP, with the A B X Y buttons, which would be like the old Geometry Wars DS' second control scheme.

I can't seem to top the high score charts on the single player, but on 2 player mode my 6 year old son and I rule the boards, on Epsilon and Zeta. Try it out, 2 player is fun, and if your partner is shite, they can steal your extra lives to continue.

  8. Things are really hotting up in Episode 13.

Merle was right Rick should have shot him when he had the chance. Daryl could have taken that single gun man out and then they could have run a raid onto Woodbury, but we need climatic TV and the pressure is building. If you've read the comics I hope it all ends just like it did within those pages

    ;)

3 episodes left. My point about the Governor stands, he just isn't psychopathic enough, yet, but he sure is a cool customer.

  9. This got a 90% in ONM. First review of it.

Who's getting it? Hope a few people pick it up, the social aspects sounds awesome so be good to battle online with a few of you. I know @david\.dakota is getting it. Anyone else?

Definitely getting this, pre-ordered and raring to go. It's been a long time since I've played a good arcade style racing game, and this looks shit hot.

  10. They're both completely different games, so really you should get both eventually.

Still, get the Wii U one first since it's cheaper and if you like it, get the 3DS game as well.

Agree with this, that they are both very different games. ATM I slightly prefer the WiiU version for its feel while playing. The control of your ship, and fire power, feels so much better using the gamepad, but the 3DS game has so much more to it. At first I couldn't get used to the flying forward sections. It looks like Kid Icarus, but with no touch screen control for shooting. Thus, those sections feel clunky, until you realise that it is probably better to play it like StarFox and not use the 2nd circle pad to move the reticle, but keep it positioned in the centre and move your ship only. After playing the first 2 levels (of the 3DS version) I realise it is a very good game, and feels more like a retail purchase than the Wii U version, but I still prefer the Wii U version, especially because of the local 2 player which goes down a treat in my household.

The WiiU version has 16 stages in an Arcade Mode style only, with online leaderbaords, that's it.

The 3DS version has a Story Mode (with more levels), the online leaderboard Arcade Mode (where you can collect coins from challenges and spend them on unlockables like artwork, songs, etc.), and more variety in its stages.

I agree with DCubed get the WiiU version first, if you like it buy the 3DS version later.

  11.

Though one thing didn't sit well for me.... how far has Rick actually travelled in the whole show? I always assumed he'd travelled further away from "home" every time they moved.

Yeah, LOL, but in the first episode of season 3, they were all looking at a map on the bonnet of the car, and Rick said they were travelling in circles. That's the only explanation you get of his adventures so far. Plus I've read all the comics and I mix the two up completely, he was off to Washington DC once in them.:heh:

  12.

    As for the Ron's place:

When you first go down the stairs into the basement it's really irritating, they all seem to notice you at exactly the same time and rush you,

The only things that tarnished the experience for me were the randomly spawning Zombies and the glitches. Other than that, it's great and a pretty unique experience, which is a rare thing in gaming today!

At Ron's place that what caught me out. I descended the stairs turned left and bang 4 or 5 zombies on top of me. Managed a cricket bat to two. Then turn around back upstairs, got clawed in the back by a third. Turned to molotov and didn't give myself enough space. I went up in flames with the lot of them :heh:

I had my first floating zombie glitches in that area too. Still a damn good game.

  13. Was doing really well with the 4th, then going to Ron Freeman's place and ambushed by 5, so died in close confines, but not before releasing a Molotov and killing them all at the same time. The 4th was my best attempt and reached over 2000 points, so collected the UPlay bonus, happy. 5th survivor lasted an incredibly short time due to the section with the double elevators and going up, was ambushed by at least 7 pouring in through the open roof. I then realised that this game is going to throw zombies at me when I am in the smallest confines possible and can't do anything but use a shotgun.

Zechs said it earlier that he checked everywhere, taking his time, then out of nowhere from behind him he's ambushed from spawning zombies. Well, this is true and has happened to me at least twice.

In Buckingham Palace I had checked everywhere on top of the first stairs. The whole area was clear, there were no places that a zombie could climb over like at the supermarket walls when the alarm goes off. Yet, after passing a certain spot it triggered a kind of event in which 2 zombies crawl over a partition from the smoked out room, and a zombie appeared from behind me, but as the music changed to warn me of this event I ran backwards to cover myself, and I saw the single zombie spawn in a corner that previously had no zombie, corpse or whatever. Anyway, didn't die that time, took all 3 down no probs.

The second time this happened was this morning with another triggered event. This one is more understandable though

After opening the safe in Ron's flat [1527] it triggers an attack that comes from the front and sides. I knew this was going to happen and scoured everywhere, cleaned all the corpses up, yet when I entered the safe code 3 zombies spawn practically on top of the doors and air duct that were not there literally 15 seconds earlier. The one coming from the duct would never have had enough time to get through the previous room and crawl the length of the duct, Anyway, did them in with a minimum of fuss as it was all telegraphed.

Even with these slightly out of place spawnings, it still is a roller coaster ride of emotions every time I load it up, and I do love it. It's just getting a little predictable in its attack patterns.

  14. Another day, another successful return to the safe house. Still on the fourth survivor, working my way through Buckingham Palace,

back to the Scientist who is starting to look on the dodgy side, updated the GamePad and obtained the viricide. Had a long session today, and made it through the brick lane market entrance that leads to Brick Lane Flats. Wow, that one section with the 7 or 8 zombies in one room with the forklift truck, thank heavens for the flares and Molotovs, a brilliant combination.

Got into the room where you drop in through the ceiling and obtained the shotgun, with little incident after the 'busy' room, then back to the safe house in time for lunch.

Be still my beating heart. Looking forward to visiting the Raven founder. The Nut Job as the Prepper calls him.

  15. Yeah, I'll be picking this up... I still need to get AC3 mind! Haha

Yeah, me too. Still waiting for a good price point for AC3. This and ME3 have kept their price up, whilst Batman (one of the best games I've played on the WiiU yet) dropped rather quickly. Maybe after the 2nd tranche of quality titles is released then a price drop may rear its head.
