  1. Wii to Launch on November 6th in US

I think Nintendo have learnt very well from past mistakes. Reggie said a while back that the key part of a products life cycle is the forst 6 months where strong games come out (there was a massive drought with the GC). With the Wii however, we have Warioware, Mario and Smash coming out within 3-9months of launch! It's so good!
  2. Wii Price: Whose side is Matt on anyway?

What my dad meant (i think) is that companies won't focus on getting the most out of the Wii's graphics with the Dev kits they have and instead focus on making the gameplay better. I also completely agree with what you say about next gen. I don't see why sony and M$ are always like 'the power of the ps3/360 means its next gen', but next generation is about the next leap, and Wii is THE next leap.
  3. Wii Price: Whose side is Matt on anyway?

My dad just pointed out this article about the Wii's American price. Japanese retailers have begin to accept reservation of the Nintendo Wii console, while an official price hasn't been announced, some Japanese retailers are expecting the price of Wii to be 18,000 yen (US$160)." Source: The-Magicbox Now, the other thread said it's getting released on the 6th November there (possibly), so we could have a $160 Wii soon! I think this could well be true, infact I think Sony and their high price PS3 could have made Nintendo reduce the price...but i guess it's all about supply here, because people WILL queue up for this machine. Also, i also agree that the GPU is the most important. I just hope Nintendo get everything perfect now.
  4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Fox will definately be in it. He's one oif the best characters to use (if your reactions are good enough) and he's like the only character than can kill someone at like 5% (his down B...so good). FOx also has the coolest taunt
  5. Wii Price: Whose side is Matt on anyway?

Basically, the DS has all these 'Non-games' and they are selling well with the console, but that's because the console is cheap and they are people who are interested in it won't mind buying it. However, will people pay $250 for one game (tbh, people who have never played games before aren't going to buy Zelda or metroid are they, they're going to buy Wii Sports, and then MAYBE wario ware, which judging by the interview on IGN won't be a launch title). Secondly, my Dad works for IBM (who are involved with both PS3 and Wii) and has seen the 'final' specs for it and says that the console, though not an upgraded GC, is not a next gen machine (which nintendo made pretty clear at E3; they want the Wii to be about gameplay not extra polygons). The way my dad described is that it's 'somewhere in between, but most game companies won't rely on the extra power' (for example, Tony Hawks was running on 'close to final' hardware and looked like an Xbox game). Nintendo could easily sell for $150 and still make little profit, so $199 seems fair. I think the only reason Nintendo could consider selling for $250 is that they would be adding something to the console, but still.... Anyway, I think we should all remember that Matt is a big nintendo fan and has said in the podcasts and on the site that he wants the Wii to sell very well, and he's just worried that Nintendo won't get through to non-gamers at a price of $250. Personally, i think the price will definately remain at $200, and i think that the statement they made ('no more than $250') was them taking a stab at both Sony and Microsoft. They had a powerful E3 (which Wii won hands down...with the 360 a close second and the ps3 a distant 3rd), and they were making a point to people; that their console, which people queued up for (for almost 5 hours lol) will be a lot cheaper than that other console which costs $600 and has ridge racer on it.
  6. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

I like the way you said that twice to make it dramatic:laughing:
  7. Wii to Launch on November 6th in US

Wow fantastic find! Really hope we get this towards the end of November then, maybe the 20th/27th. SO hyped!
  8. Wii Price: Whose side is Matt on anyway?

Everything he said is completely true, and everyone else on the IGN roundtable last week (i think it was 11 editors) agreed with him. If Nintendo are releasing one simple Wii game that people can 'pick up and play' straight away (Wii sports), Nintendo can't put the price at $250, it's something that's just too much for consumers. First of all, $199 seems ALOT cheaper at a casual glance that $250. Also, the 360's core pack only costs $300, and if parents are looking at the demos showing in shops of the difference in graphical quality, some will choose the 360's core pack. Nintendo would probably sell all the 6million Wii's that they want to release at launch if the price was $250, but still, Nintendo need the price top be $199. It's attractive to new people who want to play games and it isn't expensive conpared to the others at all. Matt is completely right.
  9. The terms of smash

Well, i do try : peace:
  10. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

The grapple works with either Link or samus, it's pretty useful! And yeah that fox player is really good, the stuff he does is crazy! I don't think i could even attempt the stuff he does, my brain isn't as quick as lightning im afaid .
  11. Starfox on Wii!!!!

http://www.cubed3.com/news/5272 Fantastic news! Just what we all wanted!
  12. Christmas 2008

I was just wondering, what do you guys think the industry will be like in 3 years time (so 2006, 2007 and 2008), after all the consoles will have settled? The ps2 sold 100mil (roughly), the Xbox 24mil (roughly) and the GC about 19mil. By 2009, i'm thinking the sales of the new consoles would be something like this: Xbox 360: 25 million (halo 3 could well make this happen) Nintendo Wii: 25-30 million (I'm thinking this will REALLY take off) Playstation 3: 20 Million (coming out a year after 360.....hmmmmm) and for the sake of it, Nintendo DS: 45 million:yay: Please offer your own opinions on what you think the future will like!
  13. The terms of smash

Let's just play for fun. nintendo made this game to bring us together, not tear us apart.
  14. OMG! The screen where Link's on the horse....amazing....
  15. Hmmmm, it'd have to be completing ToS on the hardest diifficulty mode (with myself playing as Kratos, haven't done that yet).
  16. The terms of smash

Ok let's all agree. We all have different types of playing and aslong as we have fun like Nintendo want us to, it's all good. If i play you guys on Online smash, i would gladly play with items on, just don't go saying you're better than me if you win :P
  17. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

I hope one of the features of this game is that you can save your fights onto your memory card. It's such a pain hitting an awesome combo and not remembering how you did it
  18. The terms of smash

You don't need proof. When you make a game, you make a physics engine. Certain things in a physics overlap, and they got rid of any mistakes in the engine, but Wavedashing is something that they couldn't really get rid of anyway, because they would had to of started to engine from basics which is fairly pointless. Also, smash is NOT about playing with items, trust me mate. The game designers know this, anyone good knows it. Items are just a way of getting into the game and to keep people playing Adventure mode etc (especially to get the Mew trophy, All Star on Hard without losing a continue). Playing with items means the game is VERY boring, honestly, there is no skill factor at all. Learning these advanced techniques takes 10mins, tops. And you say that these techniques are exploits? You mean to say short hopping you air moves and fast falling them is a glitch? I'm pretty sure the developers put both short hopping and fast falling moves into a game. There was also an interview in a magazine when smash came out (think it was in CUBE), and it said that the developers had been playing competitive smash since they finished it and that they didn't play with items on. Smash is about speed and style of the way you win, and by doing this, you have a lot more fun than you could ever have with items, trust me i was an item noob a while back, and so was thesupersmashbrother, and he'd tell you how much better it is. I'm not saying you should learn these things, I'm saying there's no need to criticise the good smash players because they could probably beat you or whatever. Seriously, it takes 10mins to learn the most useful advance technique, tops. Also, being an 'Elite idiot' i think you'll find is a lot more fun and tense, unlike n00b play, which is like Smash attack, Dodge, and repeat. These elite players don't exploit these glitches, and glitches are banned from tounies anyway. If you watch these so called 'Elite Idiots' play, they just know what move to use and when to use it. They don't exploit glitches mate, trust me.
  19. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

OMG Tom nook would rock! His Up+B would make him fly though (raccoons can fly, didn't you know? another thing Super Mario Bros. 3 taught me )
  20. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Jigglypuff is one the best characters if masterred (shes ranked 8th and for good reason). Her rest move is actually the most powerful move in the game and she has great recovery aswell as amazing air attacks (they have high priority...which is very good). Pichu is shit i agree, and Mewtwo is FAR too underpowered, honestly, he should be god!
  21. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee are perfect for Smash. I've always wondered why Nintendo never put them in, because they would be much better than pichu :P
  22. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Mewtwo is the weakest character in the game already, so I doubt that Mew would be weaker. Maybe he'd be Stronger and faster, but have worser recovery (mewtwos recovery is so awesome lol). I think Mew could be like Falco, quick and strong but with a poor recovery.
  23. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Here you go mate...Just one tip... DONT BLINK!
  24. The terms of smash

    1. Wavedashing was discovered by the designers and left in deliberately. 2. You call these silly techniques...So according to you, SHFFL and air attack (short hopping and fastfalling and air attack) doesn't make a different, because believe me it does. 3. 'Silly idiots' makes no sense, because they have just played the game enough to do these skills without messing up. Tbh, when you play online smash against these 'Elite players' as you call them, you will realise how useful these techniques are. I thought they were pointless until I lost to my friend Matt, then i realised I was gona have to get good, and now i rekon i could beat these Pros (well maybe, I've seen a lot of vids and i think i could....). Anyway, these advanced techniques arent for you if you don't want to use them, but when you realise what smash is like when you learn some basic skills and can apply them often against a skilled opponent, you'll love online smash more than your mum
  25. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

Yeh, Mew-Three Falco and Fox are similar and have the same moves, but there styles are so different. It's physically impossible for a human to master Fox (ure brain and hands can't work fast enough; see the video Shined Blind on youtube.com) whilst falco isn't as good at comboing but stronger. I hope they don't have too many clones in SSB:B, would piss me off so much
