i love this chip, has been all over the web for about a week with some daft people saying "waste of time, Nintendo will just brake it with a firmware update" despite about 6 posts per thread saying the chip cant be touched by the firmware... i wish these modders would spend their time on something more useful, Region Unlocking, Homebrew or Wii Media Center for example

I was talking about console bundles, the Xbox 360 deals are far better than the Wii ones and actually bring the prices down to just about level. As you decided to go down this road though: Wiimote + Nunchuck retails at £45, 360 Wireless controller retails at £33. Bit more than a £5 difference, especially if you add a classic controller on top of that. New Xbox 360 games might be a little bit more (£40 to the Wii's £35) but again there are some excellent deals around at the moment. Argos are doing 2 for £40 on some brilliant 360 games and Tesco have some good games at £18. Right now the 360 is the better machine, it has a decent back catalogue of games, many of which are available on the cheap. Microsoft seem to be doing a good job of keeping gamers involved in the community and keeping them informed about what is going on. The Wii on the other hand has a limited catalogue of games, all at full price. The release radar is looking a bit confused and Nintendo dont seem to be in the mood for telling us what will be happening when (online play, connect24 updates, game releases).

Not after Vista for gaming, just as a more stable/secure/better looking OS to dual boot with XP. I gave up on PC gaming a while ago, Battlefield 2 was the last. My laptops 64MB X700 can only just handle that... Was keeping XP because of Vista's DRM, if it started causing me problems i could just reboot and load XP

Actually, there isnt as big a price difference as you would think. Once you shop around for bundles the £100 difference in price soon shrinks down, start looking around the £320+ mark and the Xbox 360 actually becomes cheaper!

laser sword I love that weapon so much, especially on cramped maps. Dont own an Xbox but i could still beat all of my 'amazing' mates who 'did' beat the single player mode on the hardest setting using that weapon. Last time we played it was 3 on me and i won 20 kills to 4 deaths They better bring that back for Halo 3, maybe a little more balanced though

I think the biggest problem with the Wii is the lack of a decent release list. Not only is there only 1 'AAA' title out but we also have no idea when the next one is coming. Looking at the GC launch, we had Rogue Squadron, Smash Bros, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin and Wave Race all either at launch or close to it. We knew Sunshine would be with us before too long too. With Wii we get Zelda and Excite Truck with nothing much confirmed for any time in the next 6 months

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I wish i bought a 360 instead, games are cheaper, theres more of them and i could rent them as part of my LoveFilm package The Wii is fun(ish). Zelda is great! Actually really enjoying playing it Wii Sports is OK, but its starting to get infuriating (putting in golf ) Wii Play is terrible! Awaiting Monkey Ball to see what i think of that but the way things are going my Wii will be up for sale by the end of next week. Im not saying i wont buy it again, i'll probably pick one up on Smash Bros Brawl release day

I had this problem last week and ended up with a Wii. I regret it now 1. More games on 360 and they're available cheaply 2. 360 is online 3. There is hardly any price difference between the 2 consoles. Wii bundles are around £240 with 2 games, 360 Premium bundles can be had for around £280 with 2 games 4. Once you look at multiplayer the Wii becomes very expensive, for a full 4 player set-up it costs £195 over and above the price of the console 5. Xbox 360 plays DVDs and other media 6. With the add-on Xbox 360 is the cheapest HD-DVD player around Im now thinking about selling my Wii, will buy a new one next year

do Game, Gamestation etc still allow you to play a game and then return it a few days later? Might give this a go and then return it for Red Steel/Call of Duty/Rayman or a Classic controller and some Wii Points

i would, but after working out that i'll need Vista HP (about £120) + a gig of ram to replace my existing (£80) + a bigger HDD (£50) i decided not to bother. £250 is WAY too much money! you do know that wont work, right?

WOOHOO Xbox 360 version! UT2004 was one of my most played games of all time, was begining to think i'd have to shell out on a new PC to play it. UET support would have been nice, but if its saves me £500 then i'll pass I wonder what will turn out better UT3 or Halo 3?

The only thing i want more of are cutscenes, far better than the endless text that are in previous FE games. Happy with every other part of the series

I voted TP, im actually enjoying it which is pretty rare for a Zelda game. Only this, Four Swords Adventures and A Link To The Past have actually kept me playing for longer than a few hours I enjoyed Wind Waker, but lost my save game half way through and couldnt be bothered to retrace my steps Ocarina i thought was ok, some sections were fun and others werent. Maybe i was too young to truly appreciate the game?

Whatever it is he does for Wii it wont be a MGS game, the guy has been trying to leave it alone so he can start something new for the last 5 years or so

Heres my setup: Old 15" CRT, Printer, Wii, Sky Box, VCR, Speakers and a 'Serano' Stand (actually worth more than the TV, VCR and Sky Box combined lol) Will be buying an LCD monitor soon to replace the TV and an Xbox 360 or PS3 will be going in where the printer is. My laptop is going on top of the Sky box when i get the monitor, with an IR remote and a copy of XP MCE or Vista. Anyone see why im a little narked about the Wii's lack of DVD player? Im currently having to rip dvds, convert it to Flash, put them on an SD card, put SD into Wii and then i can finally sit back and enjoy (yes i know, i should stop being a cheapskate and just buy a DVD player)

hope for a bit of luck? what about going to your local games shop and seeing if they will hold one back for you? I know most of the ones in my area have fulfilled their preorders so theres a good chance you'd get one soon

Or if they had some titles worth buying. Nearly every title on the VC has been on GBA or DS as well as the original console! I REALLY dont feel the need to play through Mario 64 or Donkey Kong Country again! Bomberman is the only title thats on there that i want at the moment and i cant buy that without spending £15 on Wii Points. Maestro/Switch/Solo/Paypal support would have been a nice feature too

hmm, Nintendo seem very keen on Wii 'upgrades'. I wouldnt be supprised if they announce a HD Wii with Hard-Drive, these new Wiimotes and DVD playback Next one im waiting on is an announcement to say theyre making a GC compatable Classic controller (it needs to be done, difficult to find GC pads these days)

Theres loads of publishers holding back, i note you only managed to come up with EA, Sega and Ubisoft as supporting names. Activision have taken an interest too, but even with them the line-up is hardly stellar. Looking at the 3rd party games that have been released, how many actually had much effort put into them? The LG badge doesnt necessarily mean its a good TV, its like saying Tesco's Basics range is the same as its Finest. o rly? to be fair the graphics arent going to be miles better, eye candy isnt really a Fire Emblem thing but that SS looks amazing! Out of interest, what are the chances of the Jap release having an English language option? Im guessing slim? Would be nice in Nintendo could release a patch to make the Jap text English (not a proper conversion, just a 'fed through a translation program' sort of thing)
