  1. Did I also changed that typo you just wrote? How about the other typos in your past posts? Did I changed those as well? Better be quick and correct them as well! : peace:
  2. Eiji Aonuma GDC Keynote

I didn't see you as a TP basher. I was only saying that despite how messed up the production of the game might've seem to you, I had a different impression based on the articles I read. The devs behind TP sounded to me like people who knew what they were doing. In the articles I speak about, the devs aren't hyping the game like a PR whore, but are just explaining what they contributed to it. And Aonuma knew very well that the future of the franchise rested with him. So to consider his efforts half-arsed in anyway is probably not true. He was sweating bullets all along. The result was a game that is often considered game of the year (1up.com thought so) right up there with Gears of War and Okami. Like I said, Zelda games are no mind-f*cks or one of those dark theme games that make some gothic kid wet his/her pants. Zelda games are usually happy go lucky type of games. With a dark touch here and there. Look back at most of them and you'll see that. Ok, Majora's Mask was a bit dark. Only with the whole doomsday atmosphere. But in general, I don't get why some think that "dark=perfection". It's like when Batman became "dark" and suddenly he was all cool and all that. In the end, he was just a guy wearing spandex and a hat with pointy ears on top. There had to more to it. Like a story. In the case of Zelda, if it doesn't deliver in the gameplay department, it fails. Regardless of graphics or anything else. Sheesh, nobody is asking you to hail anything. Let the PR guys speak and write what they want. They get payed for it. And TP is just another entry in the franchise. One of many. You hardly find a Zelda fan that doesn't have a favorite or who hates one and loves another. You'll get your chance to find a Zelda game that fits your needs... hopefully.
  3. Hips man, the hip movement.
  4. Well, listen... It's a small price to pay to play the games on TV with a similar control pad as the ones some of us used back in the days. Playing those console based games on a PC on a keyboard just doesn't cut it. And the old carts used to have problems when you tried to play them on the NES. Unless you owned the last version of the console.
  5. Imagine typing some codes and making all those typos.... hell, this guy will get work at EA in no time soon! (either that or the local fast food joint) Anywhoo... Speaking of duct-taping together game consoles, check this out... Mueller, an associate professor of computer science, has built a supercomputing cluster capable of both high-performance computing and running the latest in computer gaming. His cluster of eight PS3 machines – the first such academic cluster in the world – packs the power of a small supercomputer, but at a total cost of about $5,000.
  6. Nothing really new here. A Capcom exec mentioned a while ago that the Wii would see certain types of games (read family oriented). The use of RE4's engine for a future Wii project was known also. And the rest (Lost Planet: Extreme Condition not suitable for Wii) was pretty obvious.

That's your particular take on the events behind TP, however, the truth seems to be quite different. I subscribed to Nintendo Power just so I could read the exclusive articles that explained several aspects of the making of the game. And let me tell you, the production of the game wasn't a mess at all. Major figures behind the game spoke about TP and they seemed very-very focused in creating the best Zelda game possible. Aonuma himself knew what direction he wanted TP to take and if there seems to be similar aspects/elements from OoT in TP it's because Aonuma was the man responsible for the dungeons of that game (he was also responsible for Majora's Mask). OoT was basically a rehash of the first game (NES). And every game after it, is basically just a new take on the original. The only thing that noticeably changes are gameplay elements and how they are implemented. The whole argument about lack of soul is silly. And more so to claim that the most important aspect of any Zelda game being character development. This is not a Final Fantasy mind-f*ck. The most important aspect of any Zelda game is gameplay. Besides, the writers behind TP just won an award. So they did something right in that department. The whole Koji Kondo wanting to use orchestral music was not possible on GameCube. Unless they compressed the music files to sound all crappy. And I don't see anything really wrong with TP's music as it is.
  8. call of duty 3 solution

    Is that a question?
  9. Pfft! the thread went back to being about educating ZeldaFreak out of his ignorance (Brain Age games not being games...tsk! tsk!). People must really care for the village idiot. A lot. Carry on...
  10. Eiji Aonuma GDC Keynote

Correct, if they had added orchestrated music it would've been hard for the little G.O.D. discs to deal with all that memory. How people forget that is beyond me... Let's wait for the next Zelda and Kondo and the rest of us, will have our wish granted (maybe). And I agree, Link does not need to talk. Like Miyamoto and Aounuma have said, Link is the link between the gamer and the game. That's why you are always asked to write in your name for the hero. The hero is suppose to be you! : peace:
  11. Resident evil 0

At the end of REmake you had to keep your partner alive until Brad "Chicken heart" Vickers would drop down the rocket launcher. So it was different from the original confrontation. Where you only had to worry about your character staying alive.
  12. I guess this guy considered that it was more important to get his pay check from Maxis/EA than being just another unemployed fanboy speaking his mind (like the rest of the lot). I really didn't mind his opinions. God knows we Ninty gamers have had our share of fanboys bashing our consoles of choice. It's like a fact of life for many of us. So it was fine by me.... it's not like Kojima, Suda 51 or somebody or relevance (somebody that made games I wanted to play) had said those words. Oh well... another crushed ego. :awesome:
  13. Nintendo responds to PS3 Home

Look, Sony is really trying to make the PS3 something else than a shelve space waster. Let's cut them some slack. They basically look at what MS and Ninty are doing and implement what works. And Mii's work. If I payed $600.00 for a console I would want it to make me an expensive dinner every day and anything in between.
  14. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

You get "embarrased" easily. Don't know what is so shocking about the sig. It's basically saved me having to explain stuff to the ones that used to make fun of the name. I understand that it's outdated these days, when hardly anybody (except that Saria geezer) makes pissing jokes. So I don't really need it. If you can make me a signature that doesn't "embarrase" me, I'll remove it and take the one you make. Otherwise..... shush!
  15. ExciteTruck

Heh! I dunno if anybody is familiar with "Wii Advance", a gaming site. The editor there usually bases his Wii reviews on ign's reviews... and I suspect he does it because scoring a Wii game is so damn complicated (for them, not us lowly gamers).
  16. Nintendo responds to PS3 Home

Heh! that sounds familiar to me... I used to hang out with some people that played videogames, back in the (N64) days. The problem was that they had little tolerance for anything Nintendo. And me, being a Zelda/Mario fan, made me the target of much of their flaming and bashing. Those were the good old days. These days, I've been busy returning them the favor... they especially hate it when I salute them either with "riiiiiiiidge racer!" or "giant enemy crabs" and other Sony exec nonesense. Good times.
  17. ExciteTruck

The game reviewers are confused themselves about how to review Wii games. Like for instance, Matt Casamassina of IGN didn't scored Wii Sports very highly, and yet he has mentioned that it's the game that get's more action at his house. On top of that, it became a huge hit in Japan. And so far it recently won 2 awards at the Game Dev's Conference thingy. Users wrote Matt about that and he said that he reviewed the game for those who consider themselves "hardcore" and thus he gave the game a low score. But for casual gamers, he thinks the game should score a lot better. So I agree... the scores are so relative.
  18. ExciteTruck

The average score for this game is 7.5 (source: gamerankings.com) That doesn't qualify as "so poorly"... a 7.5 is= acceptable/good. Plus the user reviews are a lot better (8.5 average)
  19. Eiji Aonuma GDC Keynote

He should have added that there was gaming crisis in Japan (before the DS came in the scene, that is). And that these days, most games are designed for western tastes in mind. Because games still sell better over here. Like Twilight Princess sold better in the States and everywhere else than in Japan. Capcom designed RE4 for western gamers (thus the action focused action and such). The company even spoke about that in their annual report, about making their games to fit the needs of gamers of western countries.
  20. Nintendo responds to PS3 Home

It's because Nintendo usually doesn't go on the offensive, that the R&D hacks at Sony have been feeling like it's ok to take ideas that Ninty has implemented in it's consoles and use them on theirs. I still remember when the N64 was revealed at the E3 event. With it's analog controller and Star Fox 64 using rumble features and such. By the next E3, Sony comes up with the dual shock controller with analog dual sticks. And it's been like that since. So, Nintendo has to speak up about in once in a while, and not look like a company that is going to bend down and take it up the arse. They need to show that Reggie isn't the only one taking names and kicking a$$.
  21. New screens of games from GDC

Well, the whole stocks argument is valid, however maybe it's just about not making the mistake Nintendo made with GCN. In the sense that Ninty want's to "spread out" the good games and not have any of those long periods where there are no good games available. So it makes sense to push back some games to a 2008 release. However, not having a Super Mario to play on a new big N console... is kinda weird. But then again, that Super Paper Mario game looks pretty good. Retro-ish.
  22. Lesser known 3D platformers

There were plenty. The Spongebob and other Nickelodeon games. I sometimes had to play those games to help my young cousins get through some tricky parts. Some levels are just a bit hard for small kids.
  23. Resident evil 0

And apart from the intro that explains the fate of Umbrella... And I''l try to avoid spoilers (for the guy who has not played RE4), but in RE4 you understand that Leon suspected that a certain spy was not only alive, but was working for the guy who wears sunglasses at night. It might not seem like much, but I know of a few RE plot writers had to adjust their plot lines because of that. RE4 also hints of a power struggle going on in the shadows, after the fall of Umbrella. The game basically takes place in a period of transition. When Umbrella is supposed to be dead and others try to fill the void. We won't see the results of the struggle until RE5 pops around in 2008-2009. And I agree, no "magic boxes" in RE0 was a good thing.
  24. New screens of games from GDC

    What about Super Mario Galaxy?
  25. So your daddy is a pussy...what else is new. And this is how threads get off topic. And possibly... locked. : peace:
