  1. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I think even the most loyal of Nintendo fans would probably impale their faces with a collective face palm if they pulled this shit again, it's essentially suicide at this point.
  2. Wii U General Discussion

Could be an amazing deal at £200, not sure if it'll tempt any one at £250 or above.
  3. Star Fox Zero

    Delayed until Q1 2016.
  4. Pokemon X & Y

I've booked too, shit is going to be mad cool
  5. Super Mario Maker

I'm not even touching that. What s bitch of a stage to turn up during the 100 Mario challenge
  6. Super Mario Maker

Got mine, pretty fun so far but the vanilla stuff you get to build your courses is very lacking, so I probably will be sticking to playing the levels online for a week or so. Really not liking this daily unlock business.
  7. Pokémon Go! (Android/iOS)

I loved Ingress so this is immediately very attractive to me!
  8. Super Mario Maker

So, where's everybody ordering from? I'm considering ShopTo, but they haven't been great the last couple of times I used them, any places that are decently priced that also get it out to you fast enough for launch day or beforehand?
  9. amiibo (NFC)

Well, I'm starting to hear more about Amiiqo lately, any one here both one or interested? Sounds like it'll be somewhat future proof, not exactly sure how Nintendo can counteract it but it'll be pretty handy to circumvent what essentially is figure-locked dlc

  13. HOLY SHIT THREE DIFFERENT GRAPHICAL STYLES?! TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY! Fuck I need a PS4 too..
  14. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

Well considering your attitude of blaming Square Enix when other companies clearly have the option to licence it from them, it did seem that you had forgot that even Nintendo gave up on the thing. I think you're not really getting it mate. Either there is no profit and that's why they're not even bothering, or the profit margin is so small it's not even worth trying. Thinking that a publisher is deliberately holding back a series, even if it made a lot of money, is incredibly naïve, do you not understand this? If it made enough money of course they would release it. You seem to know a lot about how much Dragon Quest makes in the west. Do you have any numbers in regards to localisation costs, and the generated revenue? Plus, it's not your IP, you don't get to decide that. It's a shame they won't release it here, I completely agree, but as much as I hate the phrase "entitled gamer", that's the impression I'm getting from you right now.
  15. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

How conveniently you seem to have forgotten that Nintendo themselves published several Dragon Quest games in the West. If SE isn't keen and neither is Nintendo, then that speaks volumes regarding the sales they garner. Let's be honest with ourselves, it just doesn't sell very well here, and no one wants to take the risk and who can blame them? They're companies, not charities. There's no "Onry grorious Nippon" attitude, that would imply xenophobia and utter stupidity.
  16. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

It's very hard to understand given the photo cuts out half of the Japanese text, but yeah, given there's a black border around the DQM3J reveal, it's most likely to do with the 3DS release of VIII and having new costumes. Given how bad Joker 2 sold here, this will never be released in the West. I remember picking up a sealed copy for £5
  17. R.I.P Satoru Iwata

Saw this earlier whilst at work on a night shift, genuinely feeling wrote depressed, he contributed so much to the industry and it just feels so sobering after all the fun I had at the Nintendo booth at Hyper Japan this weekend. I bet the folks all over Nintendo are completely devastated.
  18. Star Fox Zero

I played it today at Hyper Japan. Impressions coming soon, but it's mostly negative ( @Guy disagrees with my views on a few points though so maybe he'll post his too). They did say to me that gyro controls can be disabled in the final release, and I hadn't heard about that before.
  19. Pokemon on Home Consoles

I have, and I do understand that Pokémon will never ever move from being focused on portables, but I'm not sure if any one here is actually arguing this. What people want is a separate set of games. The portable main serious and a fully fleshed out console game. I really enjoyed Colosseum and XD but they were held back by their mechanics, only in XD did we see 'wild' Pokémon but it was very limited. An example of something I'd like to see is something like this.. Let's use the 20th anniversary of Pokémon next year. Let's say they have somehow secretly developed a Pokemon game for the Wii U in celebration and it's been to where it all began, Kanto. It's a full, 3D, free roaming game. Once you get your starter, you're free to go wherever you want once you're out of Pallet Town. You could go the traditional route, but let's say you decide to head northeast. You navigate the terrain of forests, mountains, you can start to see the distant Cycling Road creep up on the horizon, all the while you're seeing roaming Pokémon that you can catch. You go straight north and wind up in Cerulean City, and face Misty for your first badge and because the game recognises it's your first badge, she uses a limited version of her team (this was implied in Origins, when Brock only takes two Pokémon when he has many more available). I would LOVE that kind of game. My favourite part of any Pokémon game is traversing areas to find secrets after the Elite Four has been defeated and the world is so well imagined that I do curse it sometimes for being held back technically as it could be utterly breathtaking and it could have been that way starting with the Wii. I'm not sure I understand why you would be so against a reimagination like that.
  20. Pokemon on Home Consoles

As for the connectivity part, have people forgotten that the 3DS can communicate with the Wii U? Make an app for streetpass, sync your save with it and off you go! A home console Pokemon game can not be a part of the main series because of the tournaments, but there is no excuse as to why we couldn't get a huge adventure every 4 years or so on a home console. Most of those who claim it can not be done seem to be lacking in imagination and only think within the current envelope that is Pokémon.
  21. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I think you may have misunderstood my point. I'm not saying that it's all down to the power, power itself does not sell a console and the first few years of the PS3 proves that. What equal power helps though is a steady stream of ports for multiplatform games. These aren't essentially all AAA games. Without third parties, Nintendo is left to ensure a steady stream of games by itself which it just can not sustain. It also makes the hardware less appealing to many others, which may be the big problem for the Wii U. May I ask why you use the term 'sadly' when you refer to how the industry has moved on to the other two consoles? The consumer base flocks to where they're going to be catered to, I don't believe there is anything sad about that. I think it's more sad that Nintendo insists on walking down a path that doesn't work for them because it's clearly alienating it's audience.
  22. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

Why do you feel that way? I think, if it is a new home console, it will need to match the current capabilities of the other consoles. This will be the biggest drive needed to secure third party support, as the Wii needed it's own specific versions of games as it could not be ported straight over due to hardware restraints. The Wii U can handle last generation ports but seems to require an extensive amount of development time. It can not handle ports of current gen games, but my only source for this is Project Cars as no other developer has dared to even try. But if Nintendo is on the same footing as the other manufacturers, it's less costly for publishers to have an NX port made of their games. This is why it makes a lot of sense to make a home console of equal power to your rivals and is seen as the thing Nintendo must do if they want to regain third party support.
  23. Let's talk about this place.

Clownferret, do you kind quoting these posts that you're talking about? I haven't seen any pro-Playstation derailment, I usually see Ronnie do the exact opposite though.
  24. Let's talk about this place.

I'm noticing this too lately. It seems certain reactions are being geared towards certain posters saying things and using their character against them rather than challenging their opinions in a constructive manner. Essentially ad hominem, no? Serebii, from the 'positive' crowd and Wii from the 'negative' crowd, are going to be the two posters which I have seen often attracting unwarranted flack. Looking at Serebii's comments in this thread has opened my eyes a little to a certain hypocrisy I've had in this forum. Although I do think he needs to get in control of his arrogance (you can not even dare flirt with the idea with a 3D main series Pokémon game for example), the annoyance I've had of the defence of Nintendo of things they should be called out on purely for being Nintendo can apply in reverse, that some people may feel we are attacking Nintendo purely for being Nintendo, which I'm pretty sure is not the case. As for Wii, a very vocal poster for sure which tends to attract a lot of flack that is mostly unwarranted. And this is where my annoyance comes in because it's so simple to just ignore these things if you don't like what's being said, but there are members that I can only assume sit by their computers ready to ambush him and this kicks off a lot of drama as we know the baiting and insults aren't at all welcome. And, in a certain someone's case, are going to be completely unheard thanks to the magic of having an ignore list feature.
  25. Let's talk about this place.

My main gripe is that a lot of people assume that those who air complaints in the Nintendo board are Sony fanboys. You could be completely on topic, you could have a justified and well reasoned criticism of a game or Nintendo themselves, but someone is bound to assume you're from another board on the forum who has come to stir some shit. Yet the problem here is obvious. Chances are, if you're a member of this board, you are a Nintendo fan. You've probably lost interest in the past generation, and who can blame you as Nintendo did indeed go against the grain with the Wii and that was always going to be divisive. The same for Wii U. And I don't think people realise that. The only other console I game on these days is a Vita. My main sources of gaming are from my Wii U and 3DS but because I've been critical of Nintendo quite often recently, it's like I'm being lumped with a group which, in all likelihood, probably doesn't even exist. Not to say I'm a saint myself though, I do jokingly bait some responses from time to time but I have let it be known I've done it in jest (like I did with Serebii by hoping for a 3D Pokémon game (I'm not sure why he gets so riled up by the idea though?)). One thing I thought was a very smart move this year is the making of general grievances threads once a certain topic started dominating the main thread for a game that it was genuinely hampering the main discussion. It filtered out that conversation, and people had a place to talk about it. What I did not understand was why the people who complained about that discussion were then going into these new threads. I honestly couldn't tell whether it was blind fanboyism and they just felt they had the obligation to defend things to the death or they were just flat out trolling.
