  1. I had a look at Edge's review of Twilight Princess online earlier, and all they went on about (understandably so) was how traditional and 'safe' it was, celebrating everything that made Zelda Zelda, without expressing itself as Wind Waker and Majora's Mask had done.

Given they gave Skyward Sword 10/10 it stands to reason the game breaks out of the Zelda box quite a bit, which is great.

  2. People would have liked Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks more if they at least let you move Link with the D-Pad.

I think people would have liked both games more if they weren't dumbed down and for all intents and purposes, 'Zelda Lite', never mind using the D-pad intead of the stylus. But I still loved Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass was just tedious.

  3. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just looks too much like Twilight Princess for it to be another milestone in the series (like Ocarina of Time and WindWaker in my eyes).

From what I've seen, this game has far more of a Wind Waker vibe IMO. Twilight Princess was dull and lifeless, Skyward Sword looks full of magic and charm.

  4. He does appear laughing at you, but it's after the extended credits with the piano improv on the main theme.

    Yeah spotted that afterwards. Rubbish.

On a relatively unrelated note, does anyone else think the music in the last 30 seconds of the closing credits (the sunset part), is very similar to the last 30 seconds of Ocarina of Time (Link walking away, camera zooming on Master Sword)?

  5. They've screwed up the timing with the victory fanfare and the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED text. It's now totally rubbish and badly timed. Oh well.

Also when you beat Andross via the easy route, why doesn't he appear at the end of the credits in the sky laughing, teasing you go the difficult route?

  6. I'm pretty sure it's been said that the leaf power-up doesn't allow you to fly in this game, but it's hard to believe the whole point of the main power-up in the game is to just give you a tail.

The reason I posted was because to me, the image of the tail in this game always equated to Racoon Mario. The Tanooki suit from SMB3 was so rare that I'm just surprised that's what people associated with the racoon tail, given that you usually got a leaf power-up in every level in SMB3. Hopefully I'm making sense, but probably not.

  7. Sorry I didn't mean the feather, I meant the leaf.

which turns Mario into 'Racoon Mario'.

It's just that the feather appeared far far more in SMB3 than the Tanooki suit, and so I'm just surprised people refer to a racoon tail as the latter.

In fact you get the racoon tail in this game by picking up the leaf power-up, so I really have no idea why Tanooki Mario keeps popping up in reference to this game.

  8. Why is a racoon tail always associated with Takooni Mario, a suit that appeared every so often in SMB3 but nowhere near as much as the feather, which also gave you a racoon tail? Wasn't Tanooki Mario the suit that made you turn to stone? Surely Mario doesn't have that power in this game!
