I find that if I watch a trailer half-arsed without really paying too much attention, it fulfils my inner Zelda geek, but I tend to forget most of what I saw a few weeks later. Best of both worlds

I had a look at Edge's review of Twilight Princess online earlier, and all they went on about (understandably so) was how traditional and 'safe' it was, celebrating everything that made Zelda Zelda, without expressing itself as Wind Waker and Majora's Mask had done.
Given they gave Skyward Sword 10/10 it stands to reason the game breaks out of the Zelda box quite a bit, which is great.

People would have liked Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks more if they at least let you move Link with the D-Pad.I think people would have liked both games more if they weren't dumbed down and for all intents and purposes, 'Zelda Lite', never mind using the D-pad intead of the stylus. But I still loved Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass was just tedious.

Phantom Hourglass (95%)
Spirit Tracks (91%)
W. TF.
Spirit Tracks is superior to PH is every way. But regardless, 95% for Phantom Hourglass... really?

I heard, not seen it yet, that Edge has given the game a 10I hope you're right
EDIT: And indeed you are!

It's worth remembering that they gave Twilight Princess 97%...Good point, there goes its credibility.
Personally I find it hard to take /100 review scores seriously anyway.

Jeff Gerstmann is on GiantBomb and this week he said the last time he played it it was "a hastily slapped together set of Wii MotionPlus tech demos. I assume it's a real game now.".That's good assuming

I forgot about the infamous 8.8! That's another reviewer to listen to then.
-
Be interesting to see what Edge give it in their review. Most reviews went OTT in their praise of TP, 'best Zelda game evaaa' etc, but Edge ones are usually pretty spot on when assessing Zelda.

Whats going on with this? What new features does the 4s have and where is the 5?Thought of reading the original post? Or spending 30 seconds doing some research yourself?
-
I LOVE that they have brought the sounds it makes when you land a hit on an enemy with your sword.Same here, love that

Fuck me this game looks amazing. Love all the vibrant colours!
That new trailer is awesome. The bit around 0:45 where Link is running up into a tree was particularly impressive looking. Love the marketplace bit near the end too.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just looks too much like Twilight Princess for it to be another milestone in the series (like Ocarina of Time and WindWaker in my eyes).
From what I've seen, this game has far more of a Wind Waker vibe IMO. Twilight Princess was dull and lifeless, Skyward Sword looks full of magic and charm.
-
It does seem like we've only been drip-fed info about this game to avoid the ridiculous over-hyping Twilight Princess suffered. It's now close enough to avoid any spoilers.
-
Is it just me or are bombs useless in this re-make? Not so much during a level, but in the boss fight, they don't seem to do any damage.
-
Listening to a few Wind Waker tracks again, unbelievable soundtrack. IMO it's such a shame the same guy(s) aren't in charge of Skyward Sword's music. I couldn't care less if it's orchestrated or not, if it sounds as good as Wind Waker's tracks.

He does appear laughing at you, but it's after the extended credits with the piano improv on the main theme.Yeah spotted that afterwards. Rubbish.
On a relatively unrelated note, does anyone else think the music in the last 30 seconds of the closing credits (the sunset part), is very similar to the last 30 seconds of Ocarina of Time (Link walking away, camera zooming on Master Sword)?
-
They've screwed up the timing with the victory fanfare and the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED text. It's now totally rubbish and badly timed. Oh well.
Also when you beat Andross via the easy route, why doesn't he appear at the end of the credits in the sky laughing, teasing you go the difficult route?
-
Ahh fair enough, sorry somehow I didn't spot that.
D'oh.

I'm pretty sure it's been said that the leaf power-up doesn't allow you to fly in this game, but it's hard to believe the whole point of the main power-up in the game is to just give you a tail.
The reason I posted was because to me, the image of the tail in this game always equated to Racoon Mario. The Tanooki suit from SMB3 was so rare that I'm just surprised that's what people associated with the racoon tail, given that you usually got a leaf power-up in every level in SMB3. Hopefully I'm making sense, but probably not.
-
Sorry I didn't mean the feather, I meant the leaf.
http://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Leaf
which turns Mario into 'Racoon Mario'.
It's just that the feather appeared far far more in SMB3 than the Tanooki suit, and so I'm just surprised people refer to a racoon tail as the latter.
In fact you get the racoon tail in this game by picking up the leaf power-up, so I really have no idea why Tanooki Mario keeps popping up in reference to this game.
-
Why is a racoon tail always associated with Takooni Mario, a suit that appeared every so often in SMB3 but nowhere near as much as the feather, which also gave you a racoon tail? Wasn't Tanooki Mario the suit that made you turn to stone? Surely Mario doesn't have that power in this game!

Lovely, can't wait for this game.
(but thanks to Nintendo's bizarre release schedule, I'll be waiting another month or so after launch to buy because of Skyward Sword goodness)
-
I could put up with some of the cutscenes being pre-rendered like that as well If that's the case they would only be ones that don't involve Link and the environment he's in at that moment. The ones that have a tendancy to start: 'Long ago.....' etc

I'm amazed that some people can be stingy enough to devote pages upon pages in a topic on how and where to save 5 quid on a game's preorder, yet shell out 100 quid because of a 'meet and greet' and un-named 'memorabilia'
