Nice game, but nowhere near the quality of say Pilotwings on the SNES. This one just felt very barebones in comparison, typical Nintendo of the last few years I suppose.

Excite Truck 2, Mario Galaxy 3 and Super Paper Mario 2 would be great

Any original 2D worlds that go beyond green fields > desert > tropical > ice > forest > sky > mountain > lava zzzzzzzzzzz... would be good. (not played NSMB2 yet but I can't imagine it's much different to that (I'm not asking thanks ))

Well apart from NSMB, NSMBWii, NSMB2 and (probably) NSMBU that are practically the definition of rehashed and unoriginal

I think control mechanisms are the least of Zelda's problems at the moment and I find the OTT focus on them a bit odd. Motion, 1:1, buttons, I don't care, just give me a quality Zelda game like the best in the series. Far more important things to worry about

Totally agree. The boss fights were very disappointing, especially compared to the ones in TP and WW. I also hated the soundtrack for the most part, thought it was ridiculously forgettable compared to Wind Waker for instance

Why do some get so wound up and place so much importance in a numerical value at the end of a review? What's important are the paragraphs beforehand: it's a great game but as a Mario game it's lazy and rehashed.

Predictable, boring, safe, rehashed map. But at least it seems to have a nice rough paper texture effect

The new footage that actually has some hint of originality is definitely making the game more attractive Has anyone seen what the map/level select screen looks like? I'm expecting the exact same thing as the first NSMB but you never know....

Thrilled the Reznor is back from SMW, great retro boss. That new trailer recently posted looked great as well, and I was a huge skeptic of the game. The first two levels especially, finally something new looking and not rehashed!

Personally I love that about it, keeps things fresh like in the Mario games. You can practically guess what the next world will be in the NSMB games

I'm not sure how you can call Galaxy 'safe' and 'samey', it was very original at the time. Fair enough 2, but that was just a direct sequel which everyone was fine with because the first was so stellar

Yeah totally agree. The Wii was a genius idea, they struck gold there. Much tougher to make the Wii U look good
