  1. Wii U General Discussion

I do find it funny that the catalyst for these bitchfests seems to be some positive Nintendo news. I've not noticed gaf being 'worse' at all but maybe that's because I've not been around there much. What strikes me is the Nintendo topics are filled with people who love Nintendo. You only really get that sense here whenever a new Direct is announced.
  2. Wii U General Discussion

Yep, must be really off putting. You can't even talk about how many Wii U games are out next year before someone pointlessly shoots you down for daring to be positive. No wonder so many people have left the board.
  3. No Man's Sky

You felt like you were exploring a giant open world with Wind Waker. The fact that you can just from a planet on one system to one in another system in 10 seconds doesn't say much for how large the world is. We'll see I guess, just speculation at this point.
  4. Wii U General Discussion

Can't be bothered with this any more. If you think the AAA landscape is diverse with a wide range of different games then it's pointless arguing with you. I believe it's restricted to a few smaller genres of games. Titles like No Man's Sky and what Nintendo are offering are a breath of fresh air. Sunset Overdrive, yet another openworld killing game deserves some credit for taking the piss out of the usual grey war shooters and doing something different. But otherwise AAA gaming is just dull IMO. But sadly it's what sells so they keep making the same games over and over, can't blame them.
  5. Wii U General Discussion

Tearaway was amazing. Wish we could see more games like that and No Man's Sky. Dear oh dear. I was using it to illustrate my wish that triple AAA gaming could be that diverse. If ONE developer can do that kind of breadth of content the rest of the gaming world should be more diverse. But it isn't. My point about Nintendo PLUS indies being a breath of fresh air still stands. I listed 14 first party Nintendo games planned for 2015 then said: "I wouldn't be surprised if we saw about one game per month in 2015". If you think that's an "absurd" thing to say and worthy of arguing so much against then that says it all. Your ridiculous offence at such a simple comment is what's utterly pointless, not me bringing it up again when you're once again arguing for the sake of arguing. I'm talking about AAA gaming. That's all I've been talking about these past couple of pages. Destiny, Titanfall, Borderlands, COD, AC, watch dogs, Rainbow Six, Battlefield, Shadow of Mordor.... Quality contribution as per. I didn't say the above.
  6. Wii U General Discussion

My point is that IMO, AAA gaming is very very samey, in general. The nemesis system is all well and good, but I'm asking you to look in a broader context. What are these types of games all these nifty innovations are added to. Sorry but you arguing with me about the innocent one game a month comment was pointless. It does indeed have to be diverse but they've been creating diverse games since the beginning. It's nothing new. I was merely suggesting the breadth of content gaming COULD be. That's what I would love to see from AAA games. Not the same old FPSs or fantasy kill-a-thons like AC or Mordor.

I don't think its a controversial statement to say that AAA gaming isn't very diverse. Those aspects you listed have to be implemented otherwise we literally would have the exact same game rehashed all the time. But then I didn't think listing 14 first party Nintendo games planned for 2015 and suggesting it wouldn't be a surprise to expect one a month to be worthy of such uproar and debate. Nintendo have an adventure game, an open world RPG, a cooperative shooter, 2D platformers, a level creator, a space shooter, a diorama style puzzler and more racing DLC all planned for next year. THAT is a diverse line up of games. And who knows add a Metroid game in there maybe.
  8. Wii U General Discussion

Aren't coppoerative gameplay, online battles and players communicating all the same thing? And a graphics leap from the previous generation isn't exactly anything of note. A great set of studios you listed, they make fantastic games of course. My point was the vast majority of those major releases are either FPSs or games where you walk around killing people in a fantasy setting. As I said I don't blame them for making the same game over and over, it's what sells. I'm just glad Nintendo and indies are around that offer something different from the usual.
  9. Wii U General Discussion

Agree with all that though I wasn't saying indie games are the saviour, just that I find the gems amongst them far more fun, interesting and innovative than the latest sequels on PS4 and XBO. I don't begrudge people like Ubisoft releasing an AC every year, it sells huge numbers so you can't blame them.
  10. Wii U General Discussion

You could also label Nintendo with things like top quality games, lovable IP, unparalleled levels of polish, the fact that games actually work out of the box unlike the latest AAAs. Gaming is all about war shooters and killing sprees these days, the Call of Duty generation is pretty depressing IMO. Thankfully there's Nintendo and indie games as a balance.
  11. 3DS Retail Game of the Year

Yeah I gave Fantasy Life my vote as well, Kirby Triple Deluxe a very close second, then Mario Golf and Smash.
  12. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

    Dammit. Ok thanks
  13. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

Out of curiosity, is the special edition ordered from the Nintendo store likely to have the obnoxious big green ratings logo on the cover or will it be the UK version? I remember ordering a special edition Skyward Sword from Amazon and the cover art was ruined by the ratings logos.
  14. Wii U eShop Game of the Year

Simple... Shovel Knight on 3DS, Guacamelee on Wii U
  15. Wii U eShop Game of the Year

Guacamelee was fantastic, loved every second of it.
  16. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

That's exactly what it'll be. Still tempting, but I prefer the special edition with the pin badge, poster etc
  17. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

Eh? What do I need to get over exactly? I know it's a short game and I'm loving every second of it. Yes the time spent playing is the same whether you blitz through it or take it slowly, but that completely misses the point. Personally I wait a long time for these games, I want to enjoy it over time rather than a 24 hour marathon where you most likely forget most of the levels in between. That's just my opinion and how I like to enjoy games, obviously others disagree.
  18. Wii U General Discussion

Ok so let's take Pokemon X/Y as one game, get rid of OOT3D cause it's a very old remake, mix the two Smash Bros together, those crippling losses leaves the ratio down to a measly 16 > 8. Ouch. They could have gated it at 90%+, probably would have been 9 > 4. Oh and most of those games are exclusives so I think it's fair to say they've got a lot to shout about. Quality is never an issue with Nintendo games, that's all this poster is boasting about.
  19. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

I prefer that in a game like this than blasting through 20 levels at a time. Plus I'm playing Fantasy Life and Elite Dangerous so plenty to go around. From what I've played so far each level is polished to perfection. Loved the double cherry one especially.
  20. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

Nearly finished? I'm taking my time with it and only playing 6 levels a day, helps me savour the experience that way. Each level has been a joy to play.
  21. Wii U General Discussion

I think it's pretty clear by this point that I'm not. And he has the nerve to call other people liars. I'll cut down on the provocative posts, but it's very hard to ignore when I see his rubbish.
  22. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

You really need to stop using the word lie to plead your case, not to mention using two decade old Simpsons jokes to try and be funny. You're the only one who spouts bull$hit on here and it's why people call you out on it. Mario 3D World was under 2GB and it went from E3 reveal to release in under six months, does that mean it's not a fully fledged game? No.
  23. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

    LIES!!!!!!!!!
  24. Wii U General Discussion

I love @Wii's thinking when it comes to games. He "wasn't happy" they decided to make an amazing game, so didn't buy it. Brilliant.
