seriously though... they can't ditch the Wii U, any thoughts otherwise are ridiculous. They can't just bring out another console, they take years and millions of pounds to develop and the one thing Nintendo can't do is ditch the 4 million loyal consumers they have. A console life span is a minimum of 5 years, Nintendo need to ride the storm this year, but make sure that by next Christmas they have games coming out that make the Wii U a desirable item and pitch it at a price point where it become an impulse buy and for christs sake get MK8 and Smash Bros to market. They can ride the storm financially they still sold more hardware than either Sony or Microsoft last year and let's not forget that Sony are in exactly the same boat with Vita People are probably bored of hearing me say this on here, but it's a fantastic console, the problem is re-releasing games like Wii Fit, Wii Party etc don't do enough to make the average Wii owner upgrade, when they can just keep playing the same game on the Wii. The Wii was never about graphics so rehashing games with better graphics is not an enticement.

OUCH! On the plus side, with this latest news I reckon I'll be able to get 2 more pro controllers and Deus Ex for under £50 and then my collection is complete. I'll need a good year to play them all and will take stock next Christmas with a view to picking up a PS4 for next installments of TW, FIFA, COD etc.

why is you comparing Wii U sales against Vita acceptable but when @Serebii compares Wii U release schedule to PS4 schedule you call him out? So basically comparisons are only allowed if they favour Sony.

i'm getting to the point where I am resigned to never playing all these games. Multiplayer is just to tempting. Every time I think I'll start a game, it's like just a couple of COD matches first... I think I now have about 8 what I would call single player games that I have opened to register on club Nintendo but never taken the disc out of the box and another 6 games that I play online multiplayer, but have never even started the single player game. Need to get my skates on because when MK8 comes out it's all over.

Obviously AC isn't a copy. Did you even read my post? My point 1 was the countless platformer, kart, party etc games. Point 2 refers to multi platform releases that historically have been watered down versions. This gen they are not, but the mindset is set in stone. As for listing adult games, you just listed a load yourself. I'm not blaming the 3rd parties for Nintendo's reputation, I'm saying poor sales are their own fault for releasing child friendly versions of their games. Do you even own a Wii U?

The reason 3rd party software struggles on Nintendo platforms is: 1: They copy Nintendo games because Nintendo games sell so well. The flaw here is why would you buy Rayman when you can buy Mario. 2: They assume everybody who plays Nintendo consoles are 7 and therefore release dumbed down ports. My son is 7 and he knows all to well the differences between COD on 360 and COD on the Wii. It's such a retarded assumption and even if it was true, these 7 year old are clued up. Sadly, this gen this has been rectified, but i fear it's too far ingrained in gaming folklore now. Following on from the recent discussion on here, my boy wants an xbox because his best friend at school has one. After much discussion as to why the Wii U was a much better console for the family we did a little test. Out of the 17 Wii U games we own, half of them are available on Xbox. The other half are only available on Wii U. He has FIFA, COD, Batman, Assassins Creed IV, Need for Speed etc. So whilst we may miss out on a Halo or GTA it pales in comparison to what we would miss out on if it was the other way round. Does anybody know when 90's arcade racer is coming out?

No I'm saying Wii U launched with all that support. But since that support has been cut back due to poor hardware sales, you then claim this is why the Wii U has sold poorly.

have you got you're crystal ball out again? Have a look at the charts biggest selling games for PS4 and XB1 are FIFA and COD. Did Wii U launch with these games? There are only 3 games in the charts for PS4 and XB1 that you can't already get. Suckers for paying £500 for a console when they could have just bought the game for £40 and played it on the console they already own. I was at my brother-in-laws at Christmas and he gave me a demo of his XB1, he is a xbox fanboy through and through and at the end of it the only compelling reasons he could give for justifying his purchase was the games that might be out in a year and the voice functions and they didn't work because as he put it "there are too many people in the room" maybe the "one" stands for only works with one person. We couldn't even play multipayer because he could not afford an extra controller after the outlay on console, games and live. Like I said SUCKER!

they really do. I think I've only paid full price for 3 or 4 out of the 17 games I own. I'm loving the Wii U doom and gloom, I've got console, 2 pro controllers, Wiimote+, tons of games and all for the cost of an Xbox 1 + Live... suckers!

spot on. If we are not getting EA's sports franchises then Nintendo need to fill this void and not with with Wii Sports, but proper games. They have done it before but it seems more and more that we just get party versions of proper games these days. Where have titles like Super Tennis, PES, 1080, Wave Race, F-Zero gone?

depends on the game. some wii u games support the classic controller. Most Wii controllers work on Wii U but Wii U controllers like the game pad and pro crontroller are not backwards compatible.

my views on the Oscar & Young incidents. Oscar's was bizarre because he was clean through on goal, he could have just gone past the keeper and scored. Fair play to the ref, in real time it looked a blatant penalty, if for no other reason than he just did not need to go over. I can only assume that he thought the keeper was going to take him out and was already on his way down, when the keeper pulled out of the challenge. Also fair to play to Mourinho for supporting the ref's decision. I think the Ashley Young incident was never a penalty. He had already played the ball when he got caught so it had no impact on the attack. The Welbeck one was more of a penalty for me. People want red cards and penalties for everything these days. A penalty is as good as a goal and in my humble opinion the punishment has to fit the crime in that you need to have prevented a goal scoring opportunity to give away a penalty.

well at least those sales figures show that Wii U is salvageable. PS3 went on to sell 70+ million units and right now I think Nintendo would happily take half that. A major price cut is going to create the required momentum, the problem Nintendo face is do they continue to sell low numbers at break even or do they take a hit a get consoles in peoples house and hope to get the money back on game sales.

they could do worse than start advertising the mature games that are available on Wii U. All their ads are Mario & Pokemon, whilst Sony and Microsoft advertise COD & Battlefield. I'm sure most people don't even know COD is available on Wii U.

has anybody played a guy at tennis called "toss" he swerves the ball so much you can't even hit it, it either looks like it's going 3 feet out then swerves just in or it will be on your forehand and swerve so much it ends up on your backhand, have not got a clue how he does it, wondering if holding A or B will do something like in Bowling. @Mokong @RedShell can't remember who mentioned about rematches but usually if you go straight into another match you will more often than not play the same person again. I played about 15 matches last night and it was always the same 3 players.

I was looking at picking up a couple of gamecube games yesterday that I missed out on first time around and after some searching realised just how many classics were on that system. And it dawned on me that this is where Nintendo need to get back to. Don't get me wrong I love Wii Party/Fit/Play etc. They are great games that work really well for the whole family, BUT what has happened to Wave Race, 1080 & F-Zero? I know they are are in effect racing games but they were all so brilliant and have all been replaced by dumbed down family versions and imagine how awesome 8 player online would be for these, especially the F-Zero game where you have to knock everybody off the track until only one car remains, that would be insane online. Likewise Mario Golf & Tennis were brilliant and deep sports games, which have been dumbed down for Wii Sports. If we are not getting 3rd party games like Tiger Woods & Top Spin then Nintendo need to give Wii U owners an equivalent.

MK8 all day long and 90's arcade racer could be brilliant. Apart from Watchdogs which I don't think we are actually going to get anymore, nothing else is floating my boat. Never got Smash Bros at all, although my boy loves it. But just purchased SM3DW and AC4 and already have at least 6 Wii U games to play through and I think I'll get Deus Ex, so my new years resolution is to get all these games played and finished before MK8. My aim is to not be propping up the MK league next year so once it's out I need to playing that bad boy to death.

a hybrid of goldeneye and perfect dark, with 12 player online and voicechat. Heck it doesn't even need to be a new game just update the graphics and the online, I miss the farsight.
