  1. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

But in Dragon Quest, you don't lose anything else than half of your gold when you die. Surely you knew that?
  2. OOOoookkaaayyy Just beat Dragon Quest IV. Took me about 30 hours to finish, which seems to be pretty good lenght for this kind of game, considering the game was originally for NES. The remake was done fairly well by ArtePiazza, as the controls, graphics and sound stood well. The gameplay, I could quess, was pretty much untouched from the original. I can't really say, as I have only tried the original game once. I enjoyed the game thoroughly, adventuring in a fantasyworld is always great, and in Dragon Quest games, they are really tuned to suck you right in. The only complaint I have is that the game rarely tells you where to go or what to do next. After pretty straightforward beginning, the world opened up, but usually you just had to quess where to go. Also, remembering the names for places was a royal pain. But that's that, the game is finished, though I didn't see if there was any post-game content available. I'm also thinkg of stealing H-o-T's idea, and doing a journal of my adventures, as I play Dragon Quest VI. That game, I haven't even tried, but I quess it could have some improvements, since it's originally a SNES game.

@H-o-T If Halycanos was a pain for you, just wait until you face this infernal fiend called
  4. New Super Mario Bros 2

That only concerns American release, if I'm not mistaken.
  5. That looks spectacular! I think the game looks better than in the previous videos I have seen. Now, if they can get an MMO-game looking that good on Wii, I can't even imagine how good the Wii U version could look.
  6. 3DS Console Discussion

Yes, it transfers the Ambassador game too. Just make sure you backup your save files. I lost them all when I transferred between two 3DS consoles.
  7. Bump... Anyway, I just bought DQIV and VI to play on my 3DS. I have been playing IV for about 10 hours now, and I'm hooked. I don't know what makes the Dragon Quest magic, as it's very basic, not very story-driven, and almost driven by constant battles. Still, this game just sucks me right in everytime I boot it up. By the way, I haven't found DQV for reasonable price yet, but I already have part VI in my shelf. The question is, should I play V before VI, as they are parts of the same trilogy, or are the stories only loosely connected, or at all? I'm asking this, for I also bought Dragon Quest IX lately, and thought of playing that before returning to Zenithia Trilogy. That is, if I don't find it before beating IV.
  8. Nintendo development list

I don't know if this list is supposed to list everything, or just the big titles about 3rd parties, but is missing Mirror of Fate by MercuryStream/Konami. I mean, Castlevania is still 'big' franchise. Is it?
  9. If Nintendo go totally HD collection crazy on Wii U...

I would like to see Monolith HD Collection on Wii U, consisting of Baten Kaitos, Baten Kaitos Origins and Disaster: Day of Crisis. Many Americans should anjoy a collection like that. Xenoblade Chronicles is quite a new game and if you ask me, it already looks stunning enough. Just HD-resolution upgrade wouldn't really help anything. By the way, I was wondering one thing. Nintendo bought Monolith Soft in 2007, but Monolith did Xenosaga games and Baten Kaitos games before that. What happened to those rights? Did they transform to Nintendo with Monolith Soft, or are they still held by Namco? I started wondering about this, since Namco uses Xenosaga characters in Project X Zone. If Nintendo has the rights, maybe we'll one day see Xenosaga Trilogy, and maybe even Episodes IV-VI as it was originally planned.
  10. None taken, I was just saying how I felt. I usually grind in my own way: I just keep collecting money in battles until I can buy the best armors for all party members. Altough in Dragon Quest VIII, I just couldn't, too expensive! But I will finish it one day, as it was one hell of a game. Dragon Quest IV for DS also heavily interests me. I still feel a bit bad Square-Enix did not bring Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary game outside of Japan. I would have bought that instantly!
  11. In a Dragon Quest game usually, you mean? I played Dragon Quest VIII quite much back then when I still had it. I thought that the game needed exessive amounts of grinding whenever you moved to a new area. I quit as I reached Rhapthorne's castle, for the enemies were too powerful, and nowhere were there a grinding place, where you would level up quickly enough. I will complete the game one day, tough. But I'm starting it over then. As for Dragon Quest X, I think that the character models make the game look worse than it actually is. T really think those character models look like they are from late PS1/early PS2 era. I don't know why Square-Enix did not put more in those models, but made the monsters look cool, and scenery look awesome. Maybe it was because of Wii's processing power, and they wanted it to run smoothly online. Hopefully this will be corrected in the Wii U version, which should definietly reach western shores soon.
  12. Granted, images have been looking a bit odd. But then I went and checked out that trailer. The game looks gorgeous in it! I also agree on the fact that western world won't get the Wii version. Then again, this could be one big game on Wii U. Nintendo should really push this game here, and should definietly consider making the online play free.
  13. Rhythm Paradise Wii

Yep Shibata became NoE's president in 2000. Before that, he was the president of Nintendo of Australia.
  14. Kirby 20th Anniversary Disc

Castlevania was forgotten. Frogger wasn't... Metal Gear won't be... Sometimes I hate Konami.
  15. We Megaman fans have the right to disagree on that. At least if they will never bring back Megaman Legends 3.
  16. Pandora's Tower

It seems like HMV has an exclusive Collector's Edition on Pandora's Tower. It includes the normal Limited Edition, but also a cardboard sleeve for these three Wii-RPG's. Also included is an artbook, which has artwork from all three titles. I already pre-ordered mine.
  17. 3DS eShop Thread

Shining force for Game Gear? Could be interesting, as it's not included on Sega MegaDrive Ultimate Collection. Fun games, they are, altough not completely my cup of tea.
  18. Final Fantasy Official Thread

There is this bug in the game, or at least there was in Origins-version. Let's assume you attack with Firion, and choose your target. Next is Maria's turn, since these old games didn't have ATB. Instead of attacking with Maria, cancel her turn, so it's Firion's turn again. As you already know, the skill with equipped weapon increases every 100th attack you do with it. You could just cancels Maria's turn every time and return to Firion. This way you could easily attack 100 times in every battle. This also works for spells, so you could level up all your spells without consuming any MP. You could just level up too much by mistake. That makes grinding way faster, me thinks.
  19. Final Fantasy Official Thread

No, there really are no downsides. The only one I think is possible, at least in the Origins version, is to boost uo your spells, but not MP, that way, you'll quickly run out of MP, and if your HP/MP decrease to 0, and you revive it from there, there's no HP up bonus at the end of battle. Yeah, the Inn takes money depending on your current HP/MP it's 1 gil for 1 HP and 4 gil for 1 MP.
  20. The Last Story Official Topic

AAAaannd it's done. What a game that was! As I first set my foor into Lazulis City, I knew I would like this game, and the story completely blew me away. It took me 25 hours to finish it, and I'm not quite sure if I did all the chapters. I lost cound at some point. There surely are some side-quests I missed, of that I'm sure. Great game, well worth the money. Not as good as Xenoblade Chronicles or Lost Odyssey, but a marvelous title in it's own right.

  23. Pandora's Tower

Bump. Once again, sorry for double post. Anyway, this game is also crawling at us, little by little. It currently stands on Q2 release, but I personally think it will be released in May. June just doesn't sound like a good month to release games. Anyway, both Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story have had Limited Edition, but does anyone else think that Pandora's Tower might be left out on that. What I mean is, the game was really a niche title even in Japan, it barely sold 70k in Japan (as of now) and I just can't see it being very successfull in Europe. I really think it won't sell anywhere near XC or TLS numbers. I could be wrong, though. Whatever is the case, I really hope that NoE will keep the black box from Japan.
  24. The Last Story (24th February)

I preordered the Limited Edition from TheHut when the price was 104€. Now the price is reduced, tough. Does TheHut automatically resuce the placeholder price, or do I have to cancel an re-order? In the summary, it still says 104€. EDIT: Few localised screens from the PAL version.
