  1. I wouldn't say I've ever lost faith. I've had times where I've been frustrated with Nintendo. They have the ability to make amazing games and add a touch of magic to them that only Nintendo can quite do. The problem is, not all of their games are like this and sometimes you can have a long wait between these games. The last game for me to have their magic was Skyward Sword, and Kid Icraus (kinda). The shame for me is that despite how many amazing franchises they own, the releases can be very staggered.

The last 2 years of the wii have been pretty quiet. And with the wii missing out on so many 3rd party titles, I've often had to get my fix from elsewhere. Until the other day, it was too quiet on the WiiU front, now there is more hope of better 3rd party support.

So, no, I have never lost faith in Nintendo. I just don't like the wait between the games. Now we have Nintendo in HD (at long last) to look forward to, 3rd party support. Still waiting for the big epic Nintendo game, but it'll come - plenty of things to keep us going till then.

Nintendo just offers something that little bit different and special that tempts me back. There is no way i'd travel half way across the country to play on a new Xbox or Playstation console, but I did it for Wii U, and i'd do it again. I love Nintendo, it was there for me from Pokémon growing up, and from there I played other titles. It has shaped me as a gamer and it has been a huge part of my life.

  2. I really need to get myself to a carboot sale, probably take @LukeLee along with me, but again, we would probably end up going for the same things :(

Best bargains i've had are in Gamestation, DK Bongo's for 99p and a boxed Gameboy Player for £1.99 come to mind. Shortly after the launch of the GBA I managed to get one from a second hand dealer for just £15 unboxed, it was still around £90 boxed at the time. I had the biggest smile on my face that day!

  3. I've never lost faith in Nintendo, but I have found alternative ways to enjoy games such as my Xbox 360, I never stopped enjoying Wii though. In fact, I rediscovered it again with Monster Hunter Tri, Twilight Princess and now i'm going back and playing the games I missed out on for Gamecube and Wii, so I think there's still plenty of life left in it yet for me personally.

What's your name on Twitter? Also, nice to see another Darren on here! lmao.

You can find my twitter account here feel free to give me a follow! Wasn't aware your name was Darren? :o

  5. My good friend @LukeLee and I went on the national tour of CeX to try and find this a couple of weeks ago. We saw that Sheffield had it, but apparently it wasn't...even though they had it listed on their website. The Leeds store which had it the day before had gone out of stock...we travelled to around 10 CeX stores that week just randomly looking for games that we wanted to get, and we just couldn't find it. Then surprise! @LukeLee went and found a copy! Was really pleased! :D

Anyway i've been playing it recently and i'm kinda stuck. I just got the Water Element and I am kinda stuck as to where to go next. I've beaten the dog ghost and the fat ghost in the dining area...but I have no idea where to go next! The game has been out for 11 years, surely there must be someone who knows where to go next! :P

Update: I figured it out, no worries! :D

  6. The original Metroid is a bit of a pain for me, while I respect the origins of the series, NES games are HARD! I found some parts quite frustrating. For example, there are particular rooms where you have to shoot out blocks and climb them, and unless your timing is perfect, the blocks will respawn and you will take damage and fall back down the shaft. It was unnecessary and annoying. Another was the lack of a map, I guess I am too used to having one when I play my Metroid games. When backtracking through areas I do like to know where i'm going. There were lots of dead ends in the game and I feel a map would have helped drastically.

While I respect the game and its challenge, it's not something I can enjoy. I think the save state feature will be a huge help when I complete the game again.

  7. I like the look of the game, I really do...however at the current price and for what the game is, I honestly do not see much point in buying this game. It feels like we've got too much of the same. I've had a bit of time with it and sadly it just doesn't appeal to me all that much. Perhaps in the future when I don't have many games to play (unlikely) then i'll pick it up.

  8. Let's face it, we all want to dress our Miis up in a Power Suit!!

Haha! Well i've already done that in Animal Crossing: Let's go to the city, but with the Varia Suit!

On a related note, our website put together a preview on Metroid Blast with everything we know so far. We're still adding to it, but feel free to check it out!

  9. I attended this last year and gave coverage. It was really awesome to see so much retro goodness in one place, there was also some very worthy charity work going on. I am hoping that I am going to be able to attend this once again, I strongly recommend it to anyone who is unsure.

This event is among those announced where the Wii U will be playable.

How about a meet up? :)

  10. You are utterly insane. The basic package won't be less than £200, trust me, I hope you're right. And you said YOU'D get the wii for that price, imagine you'll get the bigger more expensive black one :)

If the prices settle at £229.99 and £279.99 I think that'd be good going.

Oh, and amazon upped it to £249.99 hours ago.

After what i've seen today I find it very unlikely we'll see the Premium model anywhere below £250, which is a shame but I kinda expected this would be the case. I just hope my order with Amazon holds out, if so then I got the best deal today. I should be happy, but now i'm filled with worry :(

  11. With 11 weeks left, Tesco and ASDA will start dragging the price way down. Its not worth a pre-order yet. I've made a bet with @dazzybee that you'll be able to buy a WiiU for between £169.99 - £189.99 on day of release. With store bundling on top of SKUs, i'm sticking to it.

No way man, that's not going to happen. I'd say £250 premium from Tesco but that's the best you'll get. The trade price is about £225 from what I hear (could be wrong) so they'd have to eat profit from elsewhere to put it out at that price.

  12. Naturally I could be biast and say Metroid Blast is the best looking game, but in fairness I really like the look of Balloon Flight :D The whole package looks like a very fun experience, i'm so pleased Nintendo are going to bundle it with the system.

  13. I recently bought Pikmin 2 New Play Control, I bought the first a couple of months ago for £4, dirt cheap in comparison to the £18 i've payed for Pikmin 2, but I hear the game is hard to find. With Wii U approaching, I need to give the series one last chance to see if it appeals to me, as i'd like to buy Pikmin 3 if I do.

To be honest, i've actually been working on Gamecube games recently, they're getting much harder to find. Luigi's Mansion was picked up for me after a nation tour of CeX with my friend @LukeLee. Donkey Konga 2 was also added very recently.

I would strongly recommend people pick up Metroid Prime Trilogy if you can find it, it's getting more expensive by the day and is a great compilation. Try and find it with cardboard sleeve and art book if you can. The game is selling upwards of £40 preowned now, but I managed to pick up a copy in my local (ish) GAME a few months ago for £17.99

  14. Windwaker was a very charming game, its cel shaded graphics made the game look less serious than previous games in the series at first, but once I started playing it certainly had the same feel as the previous games. Link had character, the music was incredible, the environments were stunning and that triforce collection was a PAIN IN THE ASS

But seriously, Windwaker will always have a special place in my heart.
