The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Kav replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You know it's a port though, right? It only started development last spring... it's in no way a Switch game in the most true sense. In mind of that, I can't wait to see what a ground-up Switch Zelda would be like! -
No idea what might be shown or told. For me to even consider they need to add another couple games that might interest me, make the online features be on the Switch itself at OS level and drop the price of Switch plus a game to £250. Otherwise it'll be a second-hand purchase once maybe Mario and a Metroid are both out. The first year doesn't have enough killer apps to entice me to make a purchase.
-
If it was £250, I'd consider jumping in, even with the shambolic online the console has. I just don't see £280 for the console alone being a figure of worth.

You can see they're at different times, seasons specifically, as one the WiiU shot there's snow covering the ground to the left of the screen from Link. We know there'll be a difference between the versions but how big a difference isn't yet clear. -

Were the comparison shots taken from the same stages in each games build? All the comparisons I've seen so far have the E3 206 WiiU build showing against this latest Switch version, which isn't exactly representative of the real difference. -

Ordered on Amazon Prime for £38, WiiU version of course. I've also booked time off work for this, 3/3 through 10/3, haha. Cannot wait! -
I don't get the dislike for this... It's clean, clear and easy to navigate. One of the best OS I've ever seen... except for the slowness of it of course!
-
Of course it will tarnish your experience! Having to use another device alongside the Switch is unwieldy. No game audio coming through the headphones from the smart device. Possible interruptions from your smart device notifications. Draining of battery on the smart device. It's an awful decision! For all the above they are even going to be charging you for the inconvenience! It's a total dick move! They should've had these on the Switch OS and released a wireless headset to go with it (wireless so that when the Switch is docked you aren't tied to the console by a cable).

One thing they need to do is sort out the god-awful online options/features in this game! They need to add parties, so you can search for online lobbies in a group together, as a team, and not have to play privately together, or on different teams like the first game does. They also need to allow you to have a few custom loadouts preset and for you to be able to take these into a game and give you the possibility to change them on the fly in-game (upon respawn of course). None of this utter dog-shit having to back out of the lobbies to do so... what a wank idea that was!

I honestly think this smart device online app has come as an afterthought. I believe that the Switch hardware was more or less finalised without these bloody features and after they'd been hearing a bit of an outcry for them, they've shoehorned them into this app. Because they're having to create this app, they're now charging for the service to cover themselves.

Switch development started a year back. [tweet]822006983880482817[/tweet] -
Why? Because Nintendo may be retarded? Seriously, that's all I can't think of!
-
If you could pick one 3rd Party game not known to be coming to Switch to be on the console, what would it be and why? I'd go for Titanfall 2. I can't see many games of similar ilk coming out for the system so it'd not have all too much competition, it's a fantastic game too and funnily enough it feels like it would be a fit for the console... to quote the Eurogamer review: Plus, the more people that play this game the better, it's fantastic and it's a shame it's sold so poorly!
-
I dunno, to me both sound too expensive, haha. I see a little more value for money with the additional JoyCons as for some games they're not just one additional controller, they're two! Living in a house of 4, this increases their value for money greatly for me. I'd still want a Pro Controller though.

Nintendo have stated the differences between WiiU and Switch version: http://m.uk.ign.com/articles/2017/01/17/nintendo-explains-differences-between-switch-wii-u-versions-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild -
It WAS that price, they now have preorders for all their allocation and so it's not up for preorder any longer... they're saying they are honouring the price for people who preordered it but once it goes back up for preorder you can expect the price to go to the RRP.

It needs a campaign like Bomberman 64... man, that game!

To be fair, the WiiU pic is from E3 last year, it may well have come a way since then. I'd imagine the two versions will be closer than people think. -
Yep. Nailed it.

Good weekend for the London clubs!

It doesn't help that I think "on my hour+ commute to work it'll come in handy"... I read on the journey at the mo, which I would still do with the Switch out if I had any particular books I wanted to read.
-
With them having HD Rumble they should really look more into VR... I think HD Rumble would make the VR experience even better. The joycons really are suited to VR play! I hate that I want the Switch... I know I will half-hate the console and complain about it like I did the WiiU, but it's Nintendo... part of me wants it.
-
They throw in these features that more than likely won't be taken advantage of in meaningful ways, but won't put basic online/social features on the system itself!
-
I do not get why they've put it in there. Like @Ashley said, what uses will it have and those it might have, will that really bring something to the table over normal rumble..?! Nothing game-changing I imagine!
