Its a terrible game. Unlike the first 2... well 1 with 2 parts. But never mind, its just not that great to be honest.i only played 1/10 of the first 2 games (due a crappy pc that died on me), anyhowi enjoyed ss2's demo, and at £17.99 is a bargain

Whats wrong with you people! Serious Sam 2 (PC) for £17.99 !!!!!!!!!

Yeah I agree with you on that. Windows ME was just a complete mess,Windows.
WinME is not a complete mess. It runs just fine today. The same was not true when it was first released because the third party people were told that the 9x drivers would work just fine with ME. In 90% of the cases, that was true. But the other 10% gave 100% of the users tremendous problems, to the point where they blamed ME for everything from devices not working to stubbing their toe on the door frame of their bedroom. The stupid third party people, being the capitalists that they are, never bothered to actually test their stuff with ME, they just sold their products. It got to the point where OEMs told M$ to either fix the issues or they would discontinue selling windows with their machines. Of course, the actual problems with ME weren't M$'s issues, but maybe it was them that told the third party people the lies. Over time, manufacturers came to adjust their drivers so that they worked with ME, but by that time, it was too late. Too many people were burned way too bad to ever hope for recovery.
To ME's credit, it has never had a service pack released. How many other OSs can make that claim? The core routines were actually pretty stable, and only new security issues had to be addressed during it's time. If you get a system today, load ME fresh, get all updated drivers for your devices, ME runs as solid as any M$ product, maybe even a little more so. I will show you hundreds of desktops in business environments still using ME with zero issues. I had two myself, running current hardware, that went for over two years with no memory leaks and no BSODs. It was just in the last two months that I retired those machines for new machines on XP. And, quite honestly, I have had more BSODs with WinXP that I ever had with ME. I think I finally have those issues resolved, but it certainly has brought down my expectations of XP.
ME was really only '98 with system restore. ME didn't give you anything else in terms of features. It was much thinner than XP and didn't require near the resources the XP requires. Trying to draw comparisons between the two is like trying to compare a carburettor with a fuel injector. They have the same function, but they are vastly different.
The bad reputation for ME will, undoubtedly, live on for many years. But the problems were really with the drivers. That won't change people’s opinions, however.
my two cents

First of all that router won't work, as it's an ADSL router. You need a Cable/DSL one, that'll be a good start.I use a Belkin F5D7230UK4 with my Telewest connection, and it works a treat.
It's out of stock on ebuyer at the mo, but they usually have it in stock, or you could look elsewhere for a similar device.
thanks u saved me £66, if i had brought that other router, thanks again, i new belkein, but there was so much of them i did not know witch one to get, thanks, now all i have to do is wait for the 4mb speed update

Dude 9800 Pro doesn't suck...i know, but i was in shocked, that it still ran a next gen game flawlessly at high
-
hope fully i can get it for £24 (Ebay), i need it to relieve some stress , from my comp sci course,
-
lol guys i just spend £250 of my student loan , on a brand new tft monitor, check it out what a Beauty
will post a review on it once it comes

Why do you feel the need to ditch you're 9800 pro? It's a good card and can run the latest games piss easy.it is a good card I do not denigh it (heck it provided me with valuable halo experience at high fsp to which i will never forget) but dude have u ran fear? the damn game near melted the 9800 pro, (literally), secondly x800xtpe for £175, is a damn near steal
Furthermore i have a mate who may buy the 9800 pro off me for a £100, to which i just a £90 more and get the x800xtpe
-
suprisingly it runs great on my old 9800 pro @ high, in dx9.0x mode
-
update , i just checked £174.95, so what should i do?
-
With an AthlonXP 3200, anything more than an X800 XT PE is overkill, as you'll be bottlenecked by the processor. Overclockers.co.uk have ASUS's X800 XT PE on their sale this week for £205. It's a fantastic card - I've got one sitting in my machine overclocked to 540mhz core and 590mhz memory, and it runs very well.£205 are you sure?
so what should i do then, i want to play fear at high, £205 is very appealing...
-
Damn, you make me feel inadquete.I have a Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm not upgrading anytime soon.
As for your question, probably a 6800 Ultra or X800 XT.
Honestly though, I'd suggest you save up some more pennies and buy a new system, chances are you'll get CPU limited quicker than GPU limited... That is unless you have a really fast machine.
What's the spec of the rest of your machine?
asus a78nx delux (bios rev 1008 for PCB 2.0)
amd athlon xp 3200+ @ 2.21ghz
1.5gb Pc3200 ram
9800 Pro 128mb (256bit) With omega 5.9's
Win Xp pro sp2 (LEGIT )
p.s i will be properly buying a new machine when Windows vista specs or when the o/s is itself is released
ipod nano w/WinXp pro
