Totally agree with this. Current system benefits those with divorced parents far too much, it's a joke.
I expect to be in debt of around £15k I believe, but hopefully if I can get some work every now and then over Christmas and the Summer months then I may be able to get that total down to £10k.

You must of been playing some Dreamcast games that no-one else got to see then. IGN has some very bad vids up, but the game does look amazing in 720p and upwards. I've heard the 360 version does 1080p as well apparently.

Wicked. Sounds good. Was tempted to change my fan (got the same as you currently remember), but from what you're getting seems like a waste to go spend another £30 on another fan. I'll only be overclocking to 3GHz though, but will be running it constant from there.

Sega Rally won't make it this year. There hasnt even been 1 in game screen...The game will be finished this Monday/Tuesday.

Sorry, but can't agree with this. In the past I gave news to this site over a week before it broke about a title with proof and saying I had played it. Then later on someone posts up a news story on the frontpage sourcing somewhere else. Nowt to do with Wispa chocolate bars, but it this did anger me a good while ago when I saw that.
Great to see Wispa coming back, best be doing the Wispa Golds as well. Aero bars have nothing on them I think.

Burnout 3 was the awesome. The old ones for me just lack everything after three arrived.
Well hyped for Paradise, and will be buying it on 360 to see those smashes and environments all in great visuals. No need for a Wii version, and wouldn't buy it either. Prob just be a port of dominator anyway.

No offense, but game developers don't give a fuck about any ideas the audience has. Only way nowadays that they'll consider your ideas is when they ask the audience themselves as to what would be nice to have in the game, and that only really happens with sequels.
They employ people for this anyway called script writers and designers, who are usually qualified or experienced.

I work for Sega doing games testing at the moment, as back from Uni for summer. Been there 4 weeks or so, and in a way just can't wait to get back to Uni.
I'd rather be a student lay about currently, but there's things to pay out for, so it's not possible for me to do that.

Not anymore because everyone has merge into other teams and some reason Sega lets other companies do games than themself as well.Not really true. For what they lost studio wise in the East, they easily replaced it with Western studio buy outs..............although obviously you won't be getting the same sort of games from around the Dreamcast years.
Let me just say, I've been told they have something really awesome currently under wraps and that it'll most likely be shown before the end of this year at some point. (I've been told it's awesome, but then again we all have different opinions to awesomeness)

When the Wii controller was first announced we all chucked ideas around as to how this new controller would improve the genres we had been playing for the last few generations of consoles, and we all felt we would get that. Problem is it's not happening at all............or when it is, it's just tacked on controls or we are waiting a good year from when it should be in our hands (Mario Galaxy).
Wii Sports is all good in some situations for parties and when people want to play drunk multiplayer, but after a few hours on launch day playing it I had got the point. It's not a 'gamers' platform I feel, and I've not played mine since April which is when I completed Zelda. Really should pack it away in its box.

Good news for Take Two, doubt it seen as they have been laying people off around the world, and needed GTA 4 to try to balance their debts up.Surely bad news for Take Two.
Well they were complaining about there being a lack of console hardware in homes from both Microsoft and Sony for them to be able to do the numbers they want with GTA IV. Suppose it could be good and bad news for them really and I see your point.
They do have Bioshock left for this holiday season, and with some of the phenomenal reviews that are coming in, then it could end up selling really well.

Good news for Microsoft, good news for Take Two, good news for Nintendo and bad news for Sony. That's how I see this announcement of the new date.
Not sure if it's a good thing for us gamers. Depends on how much you were looking forward to the game, and whether there are other releases you would be buying this fall.

£100, same as the lowest Quad Core, which is, according to benchmarking tests, worse than the E6850.
Depends what you're doing with it really. A Quad would blaze the E6850 on rendering and video compression, while for purely gaming, then yes, the E6850 is much better.
I would be getting the E6850 though if I didn't have a need for the quad, as it does look damn good overall and at a really good price when you consider the E6600's were around the same amount not long ago.

Core 2 Quad is where it's at.Shhhhhhh! Don't talk about that, as I need to back up my statement of taking the top of the benchmarking thread.
No point in getting one though unless you're into crunching video or using any DCC apps.

Lack of DVI makes it lol worthy in my eyes. I'd say if you're buying a new monitor you may as well have one with it.
Cheaper, plus DVI, and has a lot of recommendations at overclockers.

Tbh, from your comments, it sounds like you haven't got a clue as to what you want to get into. I'd decide on that before anything else, and also decide if it's possible for you to even achieve it without giving up when things starts to get tough.

Yeah, I've heard about Digipen I even have a vague memory of mailing them about how much it cost and things like that, and I got a nice reply but since I don't have money myself for that, and since I'm still more into making music than games I passed on it, but I mean sure, I could probably begg for money and as for music vs gamedesign it's really just a matter of what you dedicate your creativity to I guess so...sorry but rarely save a mail, this one I didn't save, so you can't see what I wrote to nintendo..
No problem. If you want to work straight for Nintendo from anywhere, then Digipen is the place, considering their offices are in the same building as the NST development house.
And to those few that are coming in this thread and just dishing out burns, even if the OP is just posting here to get some reactions from people..........then I say leave it out. Every now and then people on this forum are interested in how to get into development, and any discussion should be encouraged surely.
Edit - Ahhhh, disabling signatures is just bliss on this forum.

If you really want to work for Nintendo in design I'd say your only hope is to get some massive cash behind you and go and enroll at Digipen in Redmond (beaten above). That's all coding and design from what I know. Nintendo has no development in Europe itself accept for Fuse Games, and any 3rd parties it collaborates with.
Chris the great's advice will be of the most help to you if you want to get into design. And for purely design, Huddersfield is one of the better courses IIRC. These things take shitloads of dedication though.........if you really want to get where you want to be, then say goodbye to most of your social life for a few years.
Oh, and please post up what you sent to Nintendo for thread purposes. :wink:

I was going to save making this thread until after E3, as we would of known all the beef then really. There's just far too many games coming out though at the end of this year, and some AAA titles I won't be able to buy either because of lack of money or time to actually play them.
Anyway, will most likely be purchasing the following:
Burnout Paradise
Project Gotham Racing 4
Halo 3
Grand Theft Auto IV
Assassin's Creed
Half Life 2: Episode 2 (fuck you Valve/EA with cancelling black box ed. Not going to buy Portal or TFC because of this)
That's the most I'm going to buy at the end of this year (although Wii Metroid, SSBB, and Mario Galaxy are no-brainers if they come out).

Respect to you for sticking by your guns. He isn't amazing, but for having that extra cover on the bench could be quite a positive for having him in a squad.
