  1. Posting in here, because need a few questions answered. (and you people are great :heh: )

Anyway, my 360 RROD a few days ago, and I've not even had it a year yet.

So because it is within that 1st year, it still gives me the option to take it back to Game and exchange it for a brand-new one.

Right now here's the problem. Because they've changed the size of the HD now, I'm feeling like grabbing the 60GB and letting them take in my 20GB as faulty......problem is I have quite a few downloadable games on that hard-drive and I'd like to know whether I'd be fine to just download them again to my new 360 and its new 60GB hard-drive with no problems whatsoever.

The reason I ask this is because I've heard about DRM issues, and also the fact that downloaded games are tied to the 360 they are purchased on?

If anyone can answer my concerns here would be greatly appreciated. I just feel that because I'm within a year that I should just try and take that 60GB hard-drive with the swapped hardware and let them take my 20GB as faulty.

Edit - Just going to say that I would love some help with this by late tonight, as meant to be exchanging tomorrow morning at some point.

Edit2 - I've found my answer. Just use the new DRM transfer tool on the xbox website that MS put in place 6 months ago.

.... And mine was here first! :P I guess I'll be changing mine schoooon...

    Berluddy hell! lulz.

Originally I wanted to make mine look like me clothes wise, but couldn't change the polo tee colour to black, so in the end I just decided to fuck it up a little.

I have a monocle, so automatically I have a higher sense of value on the street! :heh:

  3. That would of most likely been done with a dirt layer with it's blending changed to 'overlay' above the base texture. You would then lower the opacity or fill on that layer, and use the rubber tool with a splattered brush maybe to brush out parts of that layer while changing the opacity for the rubber tool to get the right result. The splattered brush is just an example, obviously choose a brush for the rubber that fits with what you're trying to achieve with the dirt.

It's the way I would tackle it personally, and I use if very often with textures for 3d objects, e.g. dirty brickwork. This method is used in both textures and when creating 2d concept art like you posted.

Your lecturer was probably telling you to use masks which affect the layer it's applied to. Apparently this is a slightly better way to deal with it, but I've become accustomed to adding the layer above and changing to 'overlay' like I said.

Give it ago and post the results up, although the contents of your image that you want to edit look kind of small pixel wise for the framing.....blah blah. Try and make the glasses a lot bigger or something for when you post the next image up.

  4. Just finished Chapter 5...........Jesus Fucking Christ, that's all I can say.

And HoT, you'll probably be needing to buy some new boxers if you're only on the first chapter and you're like that, the tension just rises and rises.

  5. This game is top notch! Excellent atmospheric horror with a spice of Resident Evil 4 gameplay. You really can't go wrong with it!

Been playing this yesterday and it's an experience and a half.

The comparison with Resident Evil 4 is definitely something I agree with. For me it's a splice of that along with Bioshock set in a sci-fi environment. I say Bioshock because it borrows a lot of it's best ideas, audio diaries, use of terrifying big shadows on walls, and pieces of the environment art adding to the story with blood messages smeared down walls.

The visuals are quite breathtaking (uses deferred rendering) ......but what really is amazing me is the sound design. Stick some decent headphones and play with the lights out and be ready for some jumpy moments. The sound is probably the best I've heard in any game so far this generation.

I notice a lot of people a bumming Fable 2 this week (understandably), and a few of you are saying you'll be passing on this until next yr......but I do urge people to definitely play this.

  6. Not really wanting to post a long list of games I've started and not finished......but rather a few titles that I really do need to finish that have been sitting there for nearly a year:-

    Shadow Of The Colossus

    God Of War 2

    Super Mario Galaxy

I've got no excuses really for why I've yet to finish them, although I do tend to move on quickly though if a title doesn't keep my attention. :blank:

  7. But srsly, Braid is quite short, why on Earth would you use a youtube video to do it? Then you basically didn't play the game. The whole point of the game is to figure it out... take that away and... :/

I agree with what you're saying, and I so wanted to play the game through without having to resort to a guide.

Difference is that my experience of the game towards the latter stages became more of frustration than fun..........and where so many other things in my life deserve time I don't think I want to waste it being pissed off over a game. I'd rather just finish those last jigsaw pieces with a guide and take in the ending.

I can imagine I wasn't the only person around here to fall back on a guide for a few puzzle pieces.

  8. Is that the one where you have to drop the ladder, then rewind?

You drop it, go onto the platform that lets you rewind without moving yourself, and put the slowdown thing next to the ladder so it falls slowly.

That is indeed the one............and you just made it sound so simple with what you said there. The youtube video I watched didn't use the 'slowdown thing' for when the ladder dropped, just the rewind time.

I've not attempted it since posting here, so I'll go back to it now and give it ago.

Gizmo - No Fable Pub House Games code yet at all?

Edit - Done it, was more simple than I though......I'm weaksauce!

  9. The final level of it is worth it alone :)

If you're getting frustrated use a walkthrough (there's tonnes on youtube) because if the difficulty is ruining your fun it might be worth it.

I will finish it.............don't think I'll let myself get this far with the game to then give up. I've been using those vids on youtube as a guide, but even then I'm struggling with this one.

Maybe I'll look for someone else's videos, and they may have a different or clearer way of doing it.

  10. Arrrrgghhhh. Fuck Stage 6 of Braid and that 'backwards mofo of a jump while it's moving backwards ladder.'

It's the only puzzle piece I need, and I really want to finish this game so I can drop the points on Castle Crashers and move on.

I've loved parts of Braid, but a good third of this game is more frustrating than fun...........hmmmmm.

  11. Yeh, would of really expected it today considering the order was placed on Friday. May hit them up an email in a few days.

All I want to do is farm some cash up for when Fable 2 releases, as obviously the glitch in the pub house games will be fixed in the retail release in October.

  12. Content sharing is region free but there may be exceptions depending on laws of a country/region. But in essence its region free. So we wont be restricted over 99% of the time i imagine.

Just seen the update just now. They really need to have their people communicating better with the press.

  13. I did..i don't know what to think of it..it's kinda ashame..but not a massive deal..i think every country has someone in it whos massively creative and will make good levels etc..but i can see why people wouldn't want it region-locked to specific countries.

Don't get me wrong..........I totally agree with what you said, and I don't think it's a massive deal either.

I just find it a bit silly going with the whole premise of the name and also from the beginning the way the game has been marketed as users all over the world sharing content youtube style, and that has been seriously where it's got the majority of its hype. It sucks really that they've decided to region lock it, but I'm sure people will work out some sort of loophole and be able to share across continents.
