  1. Anyone know of any easy beginner tutorials for 3ds max 9?

The ones i find are a mess with half assed explanations.

Not sure if you'll come back to this thread, as your reply was a while ago, but check out this link below. I found it really helpful as it includes videos with voice-over covering what's being shown. Few lessons to be learnt there.

    http://forums.ego-farms.com/index.php?topic=78.0

Also check out the CGtalk.com 3DSmax board, as there's a sub-forum there that id dedicated to tutorials (although a lot of the links are broken these days).

My latest assignment we were given was to practice making a basic character mesh, and getting used to using edge loops properly. Result is below. (non smoothed, then smoothed model).

Over Easter break we've got to create a basic model of our own character from our own concepts, and then when we come back we'll be taking it into Z Brush and sculpting it to above 1M polys. Looking forward to it.

  2. I know that but thats because of the incompentant senior management in the game.

Still, it's no reason to call them out on making it cell shaded and being in the future. Just wouldn't happen..........but I'm guessing your comment was trying to take the piss in some way.

  3. inelligent systems are better developers than nintendo themselves. The best games ever were made by them.

Intelligent Systems are Nintendo fool. Before it was formed it was R&D1 before the whole division of teams thing.

  4. Maybe do it in wind waker style graphics.

Set in the year 3XXX, something other than keep setting in the same place - where its kill dudes earn money buy cars.

Maybe where you play as a cop.

Take Two aren't doing too well currently btw. :indeed:

  5. gta6.jpg

Placeholder textures FTL. Sort that fricking bridge out.

I still think it looks damn good though, and I can't stand GTA.

    gta3.jpg

That screen backs up my opinion on it looking good I feel.

  6. Looks really nice. And a lot better than I was expecting, and I'm even yet to watch the 720p version (currently downloading).

Meh. Looks no better graphically than say Alan Wake and it looks just like more of the same from what I can gather.

Alan Wake doesn't exactly include streets buzzing with cars and loads of separate activities for NPC's. Unfair comparison.

  7. u guys are just obsessed with everything thats japanese

Check out the Eternal Sonata thread for more proof of that. Anime styled wankfest for sure...........and generic all the way.

Hoping for a European setting personally with GTA. Maybe Barcelona or London again possibly.

  8. and the other saying it was me!!

Get new mates for a start probably. If you did say it, then you prob deserve what's coming to ya.

Another alternative is to just go find the bloke, and apologise to him for your mates calling his girl a bit of a slut, and explain that they are pussyholes for blaming you.

  9. Know any UK site that have it for sale? that looks like just what I'm looking for.

Sorry, didn't see your comment until now. But I did search to see if any other places were selling it from the UK, but didn't look like it. But these guys ship to the UK, so not all is lost. Good price as well.

Might consider one in the future. Will just have to see what my set-up is like next year when I move out of halls.

  10. Are you actully crazy?

I wish I could totally understand why you wrote that, and to what part of his comment you were referring to.............although I'm guessing it's the Crackdown comparisons.

  11. Only just finished watching it now. Was excellent, and I'm now annoyed that it won't be on each week now............suppose that shows how much I've enjoyed it since it started.

Does anyone know if there's a listing of music tracks for each episode anyway? As some of the music on the series is really quite good.

    Edit - Don't worry, found it. :)

  12. I can't find official press release yet, which probably means the finnish gaming site broke the street date...

    Huh?

    Here's the press release anyway.

Montreal, Canada – March 23, 2007 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that Boogie™ – an all new intellectual property in development at EA Montreal will be released exclusively for the Wii™ worldwide in 2007. Boogie is a unique music/rhythm-based game that takes advantage of the innovative Wii controls to get gamers off their couch, playing and dancing to a new beat.

“We’re creating something new and different for gamers of all ages to enjoy; the complete party package where gamers can dance as well as sing,†said Alain Tascan, Vice President and General Manager, EA Montreal. “Nintendo’s Wii is an amazing console that really gives us a platform to be creative and to re-think traditional game development.â€

Boogie will have gamers dancing, singing and starring in their own music videos. Players can also choose and customize different characters in the game to best show off their dancing style and karaoke skills. With innovative gameplay that perfectly matches the unique Wii controls, Boogie is the ultimate videogame party package.

Boogie is the latest addition to EA Montreal’s roster of high profile games including SSX™ Blur and ARMY OF TWO™. SSX Blur is the newest version of the critically acclaimed snowboarding franchise that shipped exclusively for the Wii in February.

  13. I've heard the Vdigi's do quite a good job. Does it have component inputs on it by any chance, as your saying it's a bit dodge with 480i?

Another solution is to buy this here. Supports loads of signals and inputs, and it's at a decent price.

I originally was well interested in connecting the Wii up to a pc monitor, but I managed to persuade my lil sister to give me her small tv for Uni.

  14. What is so good about the legendary one...except for the Helmut?

The second bonus disk, an exclusive to the Legendary Edition, will include completely remastered cinematic material from "Halo: Combat Evolved" and "Halo 2," supplemented with developer commentaries, to provide a refresher course on the thrilling "Halo" story so far, and a featurette documenting a day in the life at Bungie. Exclusive content from the creative minds behind Machinima artists "Red vs. Blue" and "This Spartan Life" will also be included.

Finally, fans who purchase the Legendary Edition will receive an illuminating collection of original "Halo 3" storyboard art from artist Lee Wilson, depicting key moments and pivotal scenes from the epic cinematic production of "Halo."

I'll be getting the Collectors Edition hopefully. If I'm that bothered about that extra interview, then I'll just download it from somewhere.

If you're a massive Halo fan though, you'll definitely want to get the Legendary Edition.
