  1. Dead Space

Just finished Chapter 5...........Jesus Fucking Christ, that's all I can say. And HoT, you'll probably be needing to buy some new boxers if you're only on the first chapter and you're like that, the tension just rises and rises.
  2. Dead Space

Been playing this yesterday and it's an experience and a half. The comparison with Resident Evil 4 is definitely something I agree with. For me it's a splice of that along with Bioshock set in a sci-fi environment. I say Bioshock because it borrows a lot of it's best ideas, audio diaries, use of terrifying big shadows on walls, and pieces of the environment art adding to the story with blood messages smeared down walls. The visuals are quite breathtaking (uses deferred rendering) ......but what really is amazing me is the sound design. Stick some decent headphones and play with the lights out and be ready for some jumpy moments. The sound is probably the best I've heard in any game so far this generation. I notice a lot of people a bumming Fable 2 this week (understandably), and a few of you are saying you'll be passing on this until next yr......but I do urge people to definitely play this.
  3. Adobe CS4!

Canvas rotation!!!! At last. I'm still on CS2 here, might be time to upgrade.
  4. Not really wanting to post a long list of games I've started and not finished......but rather a few titles that I really do need to finish that have been sitting there for nearly a year:- Shadow Of The Colossus God Of War 2 Super Mario Galaxy I've got no excuses really for why I've yet to finish them, although I do tend to move on quickly though if a title doesn't keep my attention.
  5. Teh Skunk is having a special day

No thread title mention for us old timers! Cheers for the b'day wishes people, and Happy Birthday to The Villan and Skunky also. Hope you had a good one.
  6. Router Problem

http://www.portforward.com/default.htm Click on Routers, then click on some random program in the list. Then it should tell you the ip address to log onto your router.
  7. So pleased with my purchase of a Gigabyte DS3 mobo over two years ago now, never had a hitch with it. Gone from a Pentium4 D, to a Conroe and then to what I have now being a Quad Core. And I can't see myself needing to upgrade that processor within the next 18 months.........there's just no need.
  8. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Awesomeness. Just checked my mail, and got it as well. Cheers for letting me know on here, as I may not of checked my mail till Monday.
  9. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

I agree with what you're saying, and I so wanted to play the game through without having to resort to a guide. Difference is that my experience of the game towards the latter stages became more of frustration than fun..........and where so many other things in my life deserve time I don't think I want to waste it being pissed off over a game. I'd rather just finish those last jigsaw pieces with a guide and take in the ending. I can imagine I wasn't the only person around here to fall back on a guide for a few puzzle pieces.
  10. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

That is indeed the one............and you just made it sound so simple with what you said there. The youtube video I watched didn't use the 'slowdown thing' for when the ladder dropped, just the rewind time. I've not attempted it since posting here, so I'll go back to it now and give it ago. Gizmo - No Fable Pub House Games code yet at all? Edit - Done it, was more simple than I though......I'm weaksauce!
  11. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

I will finish it.............don't think I'll let myself get this far with the game to then give up. I've been using those vids on youtube as a guide, but even then I'm struggling with this one. Maybe I'll look for someone else's videos, and they may have a different or clearer way of doing it.
  12. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Arrrrgghhhh. Fuck Stage 6 of Braid and that 'backwards mofo of a jump while it's moving backwards ladder.' It's the only puzzle piece I need, and I really want to finish this game so I can drop the points on Castle Crashers and move on. I've loved parts of Braid, but a good third of this game is more frustrating than fun...........hmmmmm.
  13. Virgin Media and torrents

So is the combination of WarezBB and rapidshare the way to go then if using Virgin Media?
  14. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Yeh, would of really expected it today considering the order was placed on Friday. May hit them up an email in a few days. All I want to do is farm some cash up for when Fable 2 releases, as obviously the glitch in the pub house games will be fixed in the retail release in October.
  15. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Personally I'm most looking forward to Fable 2. I'll end up picking that up along with Gears of War 2 and Mirrors Edge most likely. Gizmo - You received a Fable Pub House Games code yet from Game?
  16. LittleBigPlanet Thread

Just seen the update just now. They really need to have their people communicating better with the press.
  17. LittleBigPlanet Thread

Don't get me wrong..........I totally agree with what you said, and I don't think it's a massive deal either. I just find it a bit silly going with the whole premise of the name and also from the beginning the way the game has been marketed as users all over the world sharing content youtube style, and that has been seriously where it's got the majority of its hype. It sucks really that they've decided to region lock it, but I'm sure people will work out some sort of loophole and be able to share across continents.
  18. LittleBigPlanet Thread

They really need to change the name to LittleBigContinent. Guessing other people may have read that news that came out yesterday.
  19. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Cheers Gizmo, just pre-ordered it online as well. I even work at Game, so hoping those codes are sent to stores as well really.
  20. Xbox 360 Console Discussion

Gizmo, considering you pre-ordered it today, have you already received your code? As I don't want to lay down a pre-order and then find out that they've stopped giving the codes out. Pissed off really that they aren't sending these codes to stores and that it's online only it seems.
  21. Learning to draw?

Wow............I'm slow to notice this thread. Andrew Loomis books are regarded as some of the best drawing instruction books available. A few professionals I know swear by them, and because the books are part of the public domain now, then they are free to download. Here is a page which has all 6 of the books for download. I've only recently got hold of them, and not had time to really study them. But from a quick glance through the 'Successful Drawing' book I can tell you that these books really are leagues ahead information wise than anything else, and they still hold up. Click here to download The other really good book I recommend is 'The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards. Has some great little exercises in this book and introduces the reader to perspective, form and progresses your drawing from start to the end of the book. Buy that here at a great price, and again I've seen it recommended by quite a few pros. Like a lot of people have already said........it all comes down to practice and perseverance. Life drawing I'd say is definitely the way to go if you really want to improve at drawing. Where I study we are provided with life drawing classes which are optional, and that's been the problem for me personally. This year I hope I really do turn up to more of those life drawing classes, as it really is stupid for me not to bother with them. Hope those books help a few people in this thread.
  22. Good & free antivirus?

Problems all sorted now, and it wasn't a restart problem oddly enough. Guessing they just have problems with their servers then currently.
  23. Good & free antivirus?

I just installed AVG 8.0 today (installing it over version 7.0), and I'm getting the same error also when I try to update. Really annoying, as I don't like seeing a red explanation mark on my toolbar.
  24. That part on the first page straight away makes me think this is going to be a failure. I wish you the best of luck though, seriously. haha And indeed an Offerman style thread.
  25. 3D Modelling Thread

You've definitely come on leaps and bounds Wes. A hell of a lot faster than me for sure. Good luck with the texturing on that, looking forward to seeing it. Also great job on the Wallace & Gromit cooker. Just to let you know (entirely optional), but when you do some nice beauty shots you could probably also render out an AO pass at the same time from the same angle of the render, then bring both images into PS and comp them together. Just usually adds that nice look where lack of light hits divots and small cranny's for example. ------------------------- Here's the final Scream Park trailer that I worked on in the 2nd semester of Yr 2. Unfortunately we won't be uploading the mod and files to be playable in the Crysis game, but we did have playable demo's of it at our Uni's animation film day. Went down quite well in the end, and had a lot of interest in general. Anyway, all assets, characters and textures in the trailer are created by the team, with the only exception being the ground texturing (CryEngine has an awesome terrain editor you see). Hope you enjoy it. Scream Park trailer (dodgy sound at beginning, and Vimeo has made the vid quite desaturated)
