  1. "Wii Appeal will wear off"

Heheh... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwkJSMFdhTI I actually think there's an element of truth in what he's saying. I don't think it will be around as long as the competition, but only because I can see Nintendo upgrading the Wii long before Sony or Microsoft upgrade their consoles. They make money off hardware sales, they've made the Wii brand strong and they've proved they can keep two consoles in the same market (GBA and DS) while they make a slow transition from one to the other being the dominant brand. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about the new, meatier "Nintendo Wii-ii" as soon as three years from now. As for dear old Mr Perry... If i'd created a character as wonderful as Earthworm Jim, I would have done everything in my power to stop "Earthworm Jim 3D" ever happening... that game sucked annelid-ass.
  2. Eat Me, Drink Me

I'm a big Manson fan, but am in two minds about his latest album... It's growing on me though! If I Was Your Vampire is great, but after that I got a bit confused... sounded a bit wet. It all seems to fall into place from "Just a car crash away" onwards. That song is awesome. And what's with all the guitar solos?! John 5 was an amazing guitarist and as soon as Manson boots him, he decided to have loads of guitar solos in his album? Weird.
  3. what the hell is going on?

The Wii will survive until around October, so it's ok. Because around october, nintendo will launch a black and a pink console... and 3 versions of nintendogs. And clean up. At least, if they don't they are very very silly.
  4. Woohoo! Someone else who apreciates it's genius over Super Mario World! (Not that SMW wasn't good, mind). I never completed Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link as there was a bug on the second-to-last boss (and it was ruddy hard anyways), so I'll give that one a go. I'd like to get some Double Dragon games to plough through again too. Hmm what else... Super Smash TV (snes) Duck tales (nes, flameboy's mentioned that, good call!) Probotector/Contra (snes) Life Force: Salamanda (nes) Ogre Battle 64 (N64) I'd also like to see Battletoads and Snake Rattle n Roll but they were made by Rare so the likelyhood of them turning up is doubtful I suppose
  5. The Reviews Thread

I'll second, third and fourth that little beauty. The day I hear Link say anything other than "GYAAAAH!" will be a sad day, i'm sure. I was happy with the wind waker's Kaboooom's, Sploooosh's and Thaaaaankyouu's but anything more would just be illusion-shattering. Hell, I don't want them to give Link text, let alone a voice.
  6. Wii on LCDtv

RGB? LCD? HD TV? BAH! RF & TFT FTW!!
  7. If you paid for your deposit and put through a reward card, then the Wii gift card'll be sent to the address that the reward card is registered to. THEY KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, THEY KNOW EEEEEEVERYTHIIIINNGGGGGG. *ahem* if you didn't use a reward card then you won't get sent a limited edition gift card... but sod that, no biggie. I'd just walk in this friday with your preorder slip and demand one of those packs, they may even phone you to tell you about them.
  8. PAL stock allocations announced today?

I know GAME are supposed to be getting 60% of the UK's Wii stock... if that helps :S
  9. I hope the speaker is utilised in interesting ways, the new red steel news seems really promising. I reckon you'll see stuff like this as well... What with Nintendo's new thing for software for all walks of life... maybe a more successful eye toy chat? maybe a waste of money. probably a waste of money.
  10. I always thought link would be better off with Malon from Lon Lon Ranch than Zelda... She looked malnourished.
  11. Starcraft Ghost aside (is that actually happening anymore? i forget), What else could Blizzard conjour up for Wii? Well, me and my friend were just talking about how cool Warcraft II was... then I got thinking... Hey, Virtual console!! Something I'd really like to know is, seeing as some games are being ported from non-nintendo systems, would it be possible to port something PC-based like Warcraft II? And also, is it possible for the Wii remote and Nunchuck to be used on Virtual Console games? a bit of mouse-like precision... If features such as online play, level editing and Wii Connect 24 support were also there, It'd be an instant buy, for me... If not, I'll just be happy to hopefully see some strategy games done well on a console...
  12. Hopeful for Blizzard Support

As far as I know, Blizzard actually showed some interest in bringing starcraft and diablo to the DS... so there may be more hope than you think. They also brought a handful of games (Lost Vikings, Blackthorne etc) to the GBA. While WoW probably has them set for life (*sigh* I'm contributing to this...), They do still seem to care very much about their products... ah well, it's a nice idea at least
  13. European Event- General Chat

The price and date are fine, kinda what I expected... but... £45 for an extra controller?? That's harsh. I'll sit and hope for a console price drop before launch, like they did with the cube. Then I'll be able to aford an extra controller
  14. Harvest Moon Wii: First scans

Forget the wiimote, I hope this takes full advantage of Wiiconnect24 and other online features. downloadable content will help keep this game really fresh and exciting. Oh, and what about an online farmer's market?
  15. They're gunna taste GREAT!

Charlie Brooker had this advert on "Screenwipe." Ad - "...I can hear the sound of Frosties hitting my plate!" Brooker - "Frosties go in a bowl, you prick." Perfect.
  16. IGN... Hmmm...

I've been thinking about this for a while... I really reckon the Portable gamecube will be the next Gameboy. Think about it... Nintendo spent a long time saying "DS is not the new Game Boy." and why? maybe because the game boy has always gone down a traditional gaming route... it's always been about upgrades to graphics and sounds, not really to gameplay. The other thing is... why would nintendo spend so much time and effort making the Wii backwards compatible? AND in such a special way? They have made the world's first multi-sized-disc slot-loading drive, and it's only there to support a pretty-much failed console?? I somehow doubt it. Nintendo were the one company who didn't need to support backwards compatibility... unless... ... If they make the next Gameboy a portable gamecube, then people will be able to play the new games on the Wii as well... increasing the amount of games available for the home console, and also making it super-easy for developers due to their previous gamecube experience. Basically... people will keep making (and buying) Gamecube games. Didn't Nintendo say they wanted gamecube to continue through the Wii's lifetime? PLUS... get this, If the DS can handle online gameplay, a new handheld gamecube will. What if New Gameboy/Portable Gamecube games are supported by Wifi Connection AND are Wii/PortableGamecube compatible? So you can play awesome quality games at home and on the move, against anyone, anywhere. If you ask me, this just seems like too good an opportunity for old Ninty to miss... Especially as the Cube discs are already portble sized (It's like they were planning it all along!!!). Honestly though... if there is another secret to the Nintendo Wii... I hope this is it. As for the price and release date? yeah, kinda expecting November for uk, at a Gamecube pricepoint (£129 - £179)
  17. Square-Enix Talk Wii, Innovation And Hardware

Genius. God, I just hope Blizzard don't pick up on this idea or my life really will be over.
  18. Potential Uses for the Wii-mote's speaker

What about a multiplayer shoot em up or strategy game where your controller rings like a phone, indicating to you to hold the speaker up to your ear. When you do, it whispers secret information or objectives that your opponents won't know about. Either that or just turn it into a very expensive maracca.
  19. The flap development..

Err... Hang on a sec. Go Back and look at the 'behind the scenes' picture of the bloke opening the front flap. I know the inside looks different but... is it me or is there a small raised white circle just above the black void? I'll try do some photoshopping when I get home to illustrate this a bit more clearly... if someone hasn't already, that is.
  20. Wii for £120!!!?

The N64 launched at £250, then went down to £150 in about a fortnight. The Cube was meant to launch at £180, but a week or so before the launch they cut the price to £130. I was expecting Wii to launch at around £150. Even at a price like £199 it'd still have a massive advantage price-wise, that is unless the 360 has had a price cut by then (Which I imagine it will).
  21. Nintendo Conference Disscussion

"After the fist glass you see things as they are not. After the second, you see things as you wish they were. But afer the third glass you see things as they really are, and that is the most terrible experience of them all!" Oscar Wilde. Fellow dabbler in the delightful green liquid, I salute thee. Back on topic: Nintendo is nice.
  22. Nintendo Conference Disscussion

Oh for pity's sake I'm sick to death of this cocking kiddy games/adult games debate. Does everyone loose their imagination at the age of 18 (when they can buy games with boobies in!!!!!!!!!!!)? An adult game to me is one which doesn't insult my intelligence with obvious gameplay and shoddy glitches, no matter how brightly coloured or cutesy eyed it may be. No blood in red steel? *sobs into his cock* Maybe theyve put all the blood into mario galaxy and we'll be seeing some totally unbearable, Irreversable-style violence involving a goomba and a fire extinguisher. Some of these so-called adults need to grow up... I know I have. I've been drinking. On a high note...! I thought what Ninty showed was awesome A new metroid's always welcome, Disaster looks promising, Hammer could be an awesome Arcadey/gauntlet legendsy/freedom fightersy/smash TV...ey Online gem!! And Mario? AHHHH!!! Looks so cool, like mini levels each on a planet, and it seemed to me like you could fly from one to another in real time
  23. Nintendo Conference Disscussion

I'm sure that at one point in the conference Iwata says something like "when a serious gamer plays these games..." but due to his accent, he says "when Seriousgamer plays these games..." and it gets a bit of a laugh Ah, god bless the internet.
  24. Tool Album May 2nd

Man I can't stop listening to it... have they done it? Have they bettered Lateralus? As for Tool being similar to APC.. You'll probably feel at ease and comfortable due to Maynard's voice. But Tool will take you different places... Eleven minute, spooky places that'll play with yer mind-tank for days. Ah, how good is Wings pt 2??? Makes me want to weep.
