  1. 3DS Console Discussion

Well, sort of good news. Gamestation have just emailed to say their preorder price instore has dropped to £219.99 Still not great but at least it's moving in the right direction!
  2. 3DS Console Discussion

Well I feel I have to stick with my Gamestation order, purely because I've got £160 of store credit from trade-in's I did the other week.
  3. 3DS Console Discussion

I'm just hoping that Gamestation will follow suit with the price reduction. I'll be pretty peeved if I end up paying £229 when everywhere else is sub £200. Am I not right in thinking that Game and Gamestation are owned by the same company? That being the case I see no reason why they shouldn't reduce their price. Also, is that price for Game online only or in store as well?
  4. 3DS Console Discussion

I seem to recall that every game I played at the London event I used the thumb pad and it just seemed so natural - totally incomparable to the rubbish Sony put on the PSP. I also thought the blue looked a lot better 'in the flesh' than in photos, but I really don't like the grey thumb pad. It looks good on the black console, but I would have thought they could have had a different colour on the blue console.
  5. 3DS Console Discussion

I found it so natural to use I can't say I even thought about working out where the middle was. If it comes to it, I can see the D pad being a waste of space, unless it's only there for backward compatibility.
  6. 3DS Console Discussion

It sounds to me, from what I've read posted here, that the London event was a lot better than others as I too had nearly an hour at it. We were moved on from the first set of consoles after a while, but in the second room with the augmented reality games and others, we could be there as long as we wanted. They also were showing 3DS's with Sky 3D being advertised on them, and the pictures were, I thought, amazing. I thought that the build quality of the 3DS's seemed a lot better than my DSi and the thumb pad worked really well. Having a PSP, I was a little worried that it might be as awful as Sony's pathetic attempt at an analogue thumb stick, but I should have know Nintendo better than that! Overall, I was very impressed with the whole event (although a freebie or two would have been nice!). It's been mentioned about Game getting 3Ds's in store from the 14th Feb, well this also applies to Gamestation as I was told about this by them last Friday.
  7. DS/DSi General Discussion

The battery life seems a bit shorter to me than the ds lite, but it may just be because I've been playing with it more and so are having to charge it up more frequently. However, it's still MILES better life than my PSP battery. Yes, the charger is different yet again. So I now have to keep tabs on 3 types of DS charger in my house until such time as I trade my kid's DS phats in for DSi's.
  8. DS/DSi General Discussion

From the extract, I'd take it that it doesn't deliver to the Republic of Ireland (as it's not part of the UK). Might be worth ringing them on 0844 824 3000 between 8am and 8pm any day to check?
  9. DS/DSi General Discussion

Hmmmmm. . . . so will it come in at the same price as the DS is at present, with the DS falling in price, or will it be £20 or so more expensive? Don't expect anyone to be able to answer this. I was going to trade in my kid's old DSs for lites, but now have the dilema - trade in now, or wait and see how the pricing works out and either still get them DSs, but at a cheaper price (although the trade-in value of the orig DSs may fall), or go all out for the DSis. Whatever, I'll still be getting a DSi for myself and will keep my DS lite for the GBA compatibility - I can't give up my Warioware Twisted!
  10. DS/DSi General Discussion

Any idea if this is a replacement for the DS lite or if it's going to be sold alongside it?
  11. Wii, I hardly knew you!

Wouldn't it be good if there was a way that Nintendo could 'deactivate' a Wii if you gave them your console number? A bit like when you have a phone stolen, the companies can block it based on the IMEI number. Obviously, it wouldn't work if the stolen console never attached to the internet. But really sorry to hear about this. Christmas seems to bring out the scum bags. I hope whoever took it get's their comeuppance.
  12. Nintendo Enhancing VC games?

I know the N64 games take longer to download than others, but when I downloaded Pokemon Snap last night, it couldn't have been longer than a couple of minutes. Then again, as I'm on a 20Mb cable link, this could be why
  13. NEW NoE Site is up!

There's nothing wrong with the site. I've just gone back in and can get into the club section and the stars catalogue. Then again, if you're not logged in then I wouldn't expect you to be able to get into these areas. Try clearing down all your cookies and temporary internet files and then try again?
  14. NEW NoE Site is up!

I think flameboy might be right about people who didn't agree to the new T&Cs. I personally have had no problem logging on to the site and all my points were still there, so I suspect most people's problems are probably of their own making. OK, the site was VERY slow when it first re-opened, but this was obviously due to the shear volume of traffic. I've just been on it again and it's flying. The new site is a lot better than the old one, and the Gifts have also improved. HOWEVER, at the end of the day, the Stars system isn't costing anyone any money (you're hardly likely to go and buy a game JUST to get the star points), so I don't really know why people are getting so upset over something that is free! Don't forget that Nintendo is not a charity, they're a business and as such their first priority is to make money. The fact that they are giving anything away has to be looked on as a bonus. But as it's only marketing at the end of the day, there has to be a limit to how much can be given away. I was lucky and was able to get 2000 Wii points, but I've missed out on other items in the past. As with any Marketing 'gimmick', you just have to be lucky to be in the right place at the right time. When I got out of Liverpool Street station this morning, I was given a free T-shirt. But I'm sure than a few minutes later they would have run out and some people would have missed out. Would it be reasonable if those people who missed out, rang up the company who were giving away the T-shirts and complained? I wouldn't have thought so, but then again, maybe I'm just old fashioned! But the principle is the same. So what I think I'm trying to say here is, be grateful when you do get something, but don't throw your toys out of your pram when you miss out.
  15. Link's Crossbow Training

You can still pre-order from here http://www.choicesuk.com/Product.aspx/!828866 - Only £17.99
  16. "We Need Locking Mechanisms On The Car Doors"

You needed them? How many times has the Wii remote slipped out of your hand? I've had my Wii since release day and not once have I let go of it whilst playing, so in theory I've NEVER needed them.
  17. Wii games for kids?

At the moment she's playing the Gamecube version in our Wii. Will be getting the Wii version when it comes out (16th Novermber?)
  18. Wii games for kids?

My daughter has just turned 7, so I've got first hand experience of what she enjoys playing:- Wii Sports Wii Play Mario Party 8 Lego Star Wars Excite Truck She also loves Mario Kart on the DS and Gamecube so I'm sure will enjoy it when it comes out for the Wii. I also reckon that she'll like Endless Ocean when I get it. I've also just downloaded Yoshi's Story for the VC which she's enjoying. Can't think of any others at the moment.
  19. Endless Ocean

If anyone's interested, Powerplay Direct http://www.powerplaydirect.com/asp/itemdetails.asp?prodID=1543315&currsec=ga are selling it for £15.99
  20. An extra/spare Sensor bar?

I think you'll find that the sensor bar doesn't give out any signals. All it does is shine a couple of lights for the controller to pick up. In which case, it's the controller where the problem is. Of course I could just be talking b***sh*t in which case I'm sure someone will point it out!
  21. Transformers - any good?

My son is mad about Transformers and we both saw the film at the weekend which was excellent. I know he'd want the game, but I've not read any reviews about it. Has anyone got it, and is it any good? We have a Wii, DS's and a PSP, so if someone can also give a comparison between these versions and which is best (or the least worse!) then all the better. Thanks.
  22. Transformers - any good?

Thanks for the replies. It will probably be my son more than me who plays it. He's 9 so I guess that he'll probably enjoy it, as long as it's not so bad as to make it unplayable. I see that ONM are doing a full review of the game next month, so will probably wait until I've seen what they've got to say about it.
  23. Mario Party 8

    Well it's August 3rd according to Nintendo-europe.com
  24. Gottlieb Pinball Classics

Yes, I've got it, but haven't really played it much. The tables are good and the controls very user friendly - my 6 year old daughter played it with no problem. As your mum likes pinball games, I'm sure she'll enjoy this one too. It's not as 'gimmicky' as Metroid with all it's mini games, but more true to arcade pinball machines. You should also be able to pick it up quite cheaply as it's been out a while.
  25. ... and something strange happened

Yes, I had this happen to me once about a week after getting the Wii on launch day. It did worry me at first, but as it was the only time it has ever happened I'd almost forgotten about it now. If it keeps happening on a regular basis, then I'd see about getting a replacement unit, otherwise, don't worry about it, these things happen - nothing these days is ever 100% bug free.
